Redmond Gerard made a statement at the first medal event of the Snowboarding competition: the Final of men's slopestyle at the Olympic Winter Games 2018 in PyeongChang. Canada and Norway had dominated qualifying but the 17-year old Gerard showed the biggest run of his life including a perfect backside triple

half cab up the lip -> 50/50 to backside 360 off -> indy tweak over the rail -> 50/50 to back board (lip?) 270 off -> backside 360 nose tap melon -> miller flip indy (not 100% sure on this and there's probably a better word for it bc he lands switch) -> backside double cork 1260 indy -> frontside hardway 1080 indy -> backside triple cork 1440 mute!

SSX where you at? I remember watching this run in London. Me and my family were staying at a hotel and there was the live morning broadcast of this event before we headed out for the day and seeing this run was so slick and amazing. These types of riders are what inspire the stunts you see in video games such as SSX. Well done Gerard

It's interesting to compare it with the winning run 4 years earlier. Compared to Sage his run in 2014, the run isn''t really creative, especially the rail Section. Thats pretty mutch the trick list that comes to your mind first when doing a basic park run. Sage his rail section was all the way trough switch to switch. Also Sage his jumps were more unusual with difficult grabs and a 1080 Hardway and had in total only 360° less rotation. But Reds run was completely flawless and seemed effortless, whlie Sage had barely a complete clean landing. Big fan of both of them!
