I personally wouldn't classify it as a cruiser, but as an armed merchant, or merchant marine ship. When you classify things with a combat bent, you tend to use it for the heaviest role. For example, the Battle of Jutland and the usage of battlecruisers in a battle line with battleships.

That is why it has the combined class as cargo and cruiser, I feel like the role I want to describe does not exist in real life so it had to be estimated. I try to keep my class system fairly linear in order to be able to keep track of the actual combat capabilities, if you are interested the class system is in the discord pinned.

I dont know if you have anything like it in your army yet and i sadly dont have the money to spare to support you but a destroyer type ship that has its main focus be ciws to escort offensive ships and protect them from most crams and missiles and itself from big aps shells would be nice. With multiple ways of dealing with incoming threats like aps ciws and interceptors for cram and missiles from far away and a pretty strong lams that really only works as a last line of defence for itself would be nice to see. Sadly i myself am not good enough to build a ship like this so that it looks good and doesnt blow up the budget.

It's a cool suggestion, however since most ships choose to go for the biggest enemy it might be hard, and the budget for something like this will be significant, however making this an airship that hovers above the ship it protects might do the trick! That may have to be controlled with breadboard though... Needs some though!
