Since creating this video Luminar Neo has been updated and improved. You can get the newest version on sale here: bit.ly/NeoSale and maybe save more with coupon: ATNEO10 (sometimes Skylum de-activate the code if there's already a promotion running but worth giving a go!)

As I watched this video, I was that guy saying OUT LOUD "why not just do a linear gradient from the bottom up?" well sir... you got me. Touché brother. You humbled me. Great video and tutorial. Now you need to pay me rent for living in my head cause it's like you already know what I'm going to say and have answered it. 😅 You're the man Anthony!

You’re a brilliant teacher, Anthony. Calm soothing voice, no fussing about and a fountain of knowledge. Keep up the brilliant work 👍 One question, in case you can answer in the future: I’ve tried automatically blending 360º HDR photos in Luminar and they do not work correctly afterwards when viewed in 360º software, where the photo joins there is always a clear line which breaks the immersion. Lightroom on the other hand blends them perfectly and looks seamless. Any tips to resolve that issue in Luminar? Thanks

Thx Anthony. What if you wanted to use a full set of (say) 5 bracketed images. Presumably you would have to repeat the process another 3 times. HDR is certainly easier.
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 4 месяца назад
It's unlikely you'd need to use 5. If I shoot 5 or even 7 I'll just choose the most appropriate base exposure, one for the highlights and one for the shadows and just discard the others.

Thanks for that! I have a weird unrelated question - which model of microphone is that? I'm looking at upgrading to a Shure but I was told that you have to be no more than 6" away from it to pick up voice. I see you're not that close and your sound is good so I'm wondering which mic this is?
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 4 месяца назад
Hi Darlene, I'm overseas at the moment (pre-recorded this one) so I can't double check. But I'll look into it and let you know. It's the all in one shure (ie no hardware booster needed). Tbh, I've had to set up a bit of a process in Adobe Audition to clean the audio and it does sound way better up close. I used to use the rode nt USB but I never quite figured out a setting I liked. This is definitely an improvement.
@AnthonyTurnham

Okay, I got my wife to check. It's the Shure MV7 I still think I'll boom arm it at some point

@@AnthonyTurnham Thanks I have the Rode now and it picks up too much room noise. Sounds like the Shure is more work though. Also looking at the Rode lavalier mic so direction isn't an issue

Total newbie question Anthony - how are you getting 3/4 different exposure pics of exactly the same scene to work with? Is this done inside the camera at the point of shooting, e.g. it'll give you the same still shot and split that out x3 or x4 with different exposure settings automatically, or are you taking the one image then using LN or another app to over or under-expose the 3 or 4 versions so you can then layer them? Sorry about my ineptitude here....Many thanks!
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 3 месяца назад
Yeah good question. It's done in camera. It's called exposure bracketing. Most cameras have that function.
@davidbinks817
@davidbinks817 2 месяца назад
Hi Anthony I was not no aware you can bracket moving scenes like waterfall successfully. I have long exposure waterfall shot can I use this technique with only a single shot using layer blend modes? Or some other way thanks David
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 2 месяца назад
Sure. Use the luminosity mask to select the bright parts of the water and then use a develop tool adjustment to reduce the highlights, either with that slider or pulling down the curves, or a mixture of both. :)

They did make one of the best updates, but the expected that was the hdr in batch, it makes a mess between the images. It would be nice if it had an option to put the image quality to the HDR merge, 3 or 7 for example . Do you have any solutions for this?
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 4 месяца назад
No solution at the moment other than dragging and dropping the photos if they get inadvertently shuffled. I'm going to message Skylum about it and see if they can get on to improving that part of it.

Hi Anthony. Thank you for providing such great, educational content. Appreciate what you do! Question for you: In my workflow up to this point i've been loading my images and sorting them in Lightroom. Then i'll work on them in photoshop. How do you get multiple images to show up in Luminar Neo? And do your Luminar edits get automatically saved in Lightroom? Thanks so much.
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 4 месяца назад
If you're enjoying your lightroom workflow for culling and raw editing you could always run an export of your selected photos to a separate folder. Then if you point Neo to that folder of, say tiffs for maximum quality, then you can continue to edit and play with those photos in Luminar without ruining the original. Neo works similar to LR in that nothing actually changes to the original file and you only get access to the edited work outside of Neo if you export it. Your Neo edits are only saved in Neo as a set of instructions in the database (same as LR) If you want LR to load the new versions you'd need to export them from Neo and load those new files into LR.
@manicproject
@manicproject 4 месяца назад
I see. Sounds like it’s kind of one or the other… I take it you prefer Luminar over Lightroom? Thank you for your reply Anthony!
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 4 месяца назад
@manicproject tbh I like them both. LR is brilliant for cataloguing and organization, also a great raw editor. But Luminar has the edge with more creative edits as its toolset is more comprehensive. Luminar is my go-to these days
