I've never clicked on a video faster in my life. Seen a few of your other headunit videos but as soon as I saw this video and your name in the sidebar I subbed. Been looking like crazy for an android HU with 8 core, 32 rom 2 ram and with flush fitment on FT86 cars. Just wish it had android 7 nougat and it would be perfect!
Yeah, thats the way i wanted to Mario 8 core with 7.1. I just couldn't find it! they just don't make it (afaik). I didn't mind the 6.0, because i can help you guys out by giving you my experience 6.0 vs 7.1. I'm still testing and wil give you guys my feedback this week. i need to test out the gpu performance of each. I know thats where the px5 vs rk3188 really shine. However, i dont really run 3d apps on a car head unit. haha
John Nguyen I found a company by the name of “XTrons” that makes 7.0 8 cores! Look into them maybe? Could be an awesome HU. I havent pulled the trigger on getting one yet but maybe you can help me lean towards the better company brand!
honestly haven't been to thrilled with the 8-core right now. For some app it doesn't run as smoothly as a quad core. 8 weaker men < 4 stronger men (especially for compatibility) I need more testing
FYI, The part you linked for the back up camera harness + AUX is actually different from the one you use for your instructions (AX-SUB28SWC). I think the one linked for amazon to buy is actually for the Toyota (AX-TOY28SWC). They are actually completely different in the 28 pin setup.
i am on my 3rd android unit. Good concept with quality issues. The section of bandwidth that they should be using for high quality bluetooth music is not being used hence the music comes with no fidelity on some units if you are using music on your phone. Currently having an issue with the mic not working and trying to get the supplier to sort.
I see spaghetti nice double din though. How's the EQ and dsp? High pass filter (Hpf), bandpass filter (bpf), low pad filter (lpf)? Does it have good voltage running off the rca's? Meaning audio output front, rear and subwoofer? How's the DVD, app, sync, bt, and etc. Does it have HDMI? I do like the factory look. Any other bells and whistles I didn't mention. I hope this is a great unit. :)
Hi John, I know this is a year-old video but I'm thinking of buying this Seicane HU for my 2017 BRZ. As you know, it has both steering wheel controls and B/U camera. I understand that this HU can handle both. But I must confess that I know nothing about working with cars in general and electronics in particular. But I'm an IT programmer and can work with computers. Do you think the install is simple enough that even I can do it? All the wiring looks challenging to me. Also, I'm not sure from your video how to connect my B/U cam and SW controls. Do you think the DAisata from Aliepress is a better HU? I like the physical knobs of the Seicane. BTW, I love your vids. Very informational.
Hey Hiep, You'll be fine with the install. It's very easy compare to aftermarket head unit from other manufacture because it comes with a plug and play setup. As far as steering wheel controls, that should be plug and play too. If not, it's literally 3 wires . These manufacture keep updating their harness, so you might get lucky with a super easy back up camera harness include. As far as seicane or dasaita it's up to looks. I noticed the dasaita one sounds better, so keep that in mind. I had both at one time, and Kim (my girlfriend who owns the brz), prefers the dasaita, She daily the the car, so i'll leave it at that.
Any tips on how to connect the Bluetooth OBDII to this Head unit? I can't get it to pair to save my life. The unit recognizes the OBDII but does nothing when try to connect. I've rebooted the unit twice, no luck. I also tried using the pin 0000 and 1234.
Glad to know that this unit has a functioning cd/DVD drive. Thanks for the recon on this unit. Looking forward to putting it into my 2017 BRZ with PP. Hope steering wheel controls work
Yeah you can get it to work. Steering wheel control is 3 wires so it's super easy to wire up. the 2016 brz and 2017 have the same head unit. You need to change it out the dash piece because of trapezoid shape!
John Nguyen any chance you can update your wiring guide for aux, backup camera, and steering wheel controls on ft86club? Just so it's a bit more detailed and better explained/laid out?
i linked in the description the forum but thats as good as it gets! i wouldnt be able any better. It's something you need hands on with and then its like "OH Yeah, thats not bad at all"
please help i got this radio but the door speakers aren't working for me i tried to connect the antenna blue wire to accessorie wire and nothing happened
Hey, John! I know this is a bit of an older video of yours, but I figured I'd take a shot and ask a question. I am curious as to if you can disable that beep/tone that plays over the speakers after interacting with the headunit? (Touching the screen, adjusting volume, etc.)
I had a question, so the link you provided for the head unit is the following: www.seicane.com/double-din-android-in-dash-navigation-dvd-player-1996-2009-toyota-prado-with-radio-auto-a-v-3g-wifi-bluetooth-aux-mirror-link-obd2-rearview-camera-s6936g But the head unit that looks like the one you have installed is: www.seicane.com/seicane-s126003-2005-2011-toyota-vitz-echo-aftermarket-android-gps-navigation-system-with-radio-bluetooth-touch-screen-dvd-player-3g-wifi-obd2-mirror-link-steering-wheel-control So which is it?
I like the look of it and may order this same one to replace the Joying Unit I have. Although the Joying one works well for now. I like that this one fits within the dash fascia. Do you know if the wiring harness and extra cables I bought for my Joying Unit will work with this one?
Thanks for the video. I installed a Seicane Android 9.0 head unit in my 2013 Scion FRS. It worked right after connecting all wiring harnesses. But after I turned off the power and turned back on again. The screen is blank but I have audio. The manual said that I have to hook up the green wire to the car parking brake switch. Did you have to do that with your installation? I could not find the green wire on the power harness
Great vid, thanks for the upload. Question...I just purchased a GT86 with full TRD package and an upgraded stereo screen with Nav from Toyota, is this what I would be getting? They were rather coy with telling me anything more about the upgrade and it was $1,200 it better be nice.
I recently bought a PX3/android 7.1/2gb ram/32gb rom unit from pumpkin auto but I'm sort of disappointed with the speed. Switching between Google maps and Google Play Music is a bit slow for me. I'm interested if this octacore if it'll help but I saw your comment that it's a bit slow too. I'll be on the lookout for an update video otherwise fitment looks great!
Speed has been great so far! With some minor difficulty. It's blazing fast. However, it doesn't play nicely with one app. If I run the app, it chugs hard and causes other apps to freeze. It''s not a legit app off the playstore but it's an app I use on my quad core rk3188 on time. I read before purchasing the octacore that there has been some app compatibility issues. Thankfully, if you still want good fitment, there is another version of this same unit with the rk3188 (which is older (similar cpu performance) but perform just as good without the compatibility issue.) I need to do more testing. I shot a first impression video i plan on releasing sometime this week where i ask what you guys want to see. Then a full review later
John Nguyen which app if you don't mind me asking? The other issue I have with mine is that RU-vid will not show video (black screen with audio) after going to sleep with car off. I'm thinking of returning and going for a px5 unit. There are plenty of roms for px5 but none currently for px3/7.1
Most newer android units have "one" preamp output. What is the soulution to get subwoofer signal to amps the have "two" inputs ? I can seem to find a definitive answer.
Yo John Nguyen you have the best Android head unit vids for sure. I was hoping you could help me out as I'm trying to purchase one for my car. 2012 Toyota Avalon base with JBL sound. Tweaters and speakers on each door and what I think is a subwoofer in the dash.....yo can you please let me know what wiring harnesses I need so I can put one of those bad boys in my car.....much appreciated. Keep up the good work man. Fellow Californian. Peace.
The wiring should be the toyota style 10+6 pin harness. That should get the unit booted up and playing audio. If not you just need to power the amp if your car has one. Other than that you are pretty much good to go.
Do you know what power IC this headunit uses? Their website doesn't list it and support seems flaky at best (they responded to my question for the power amplifier IC with "please provide a picture of dash to confirm fitment").
Hi John, I'm looking this unit in details for a '14 GT86. Just guessing if you were able finally to see if the 8 week guys (octacore) were better than the 4 strong guys (quad core) unit. Is this unit worth after your tests? Thank you very much! David
Show me an android unit that can tap into lanewatch factory cameras and I will buy. That's the only factor holding me back from getting an andtoid unit for my '17 Honda HRV.
I got the same unit and I can't get my speakers to work. But the head unit turns on and everything. Just no sound. I do have aftermarket speakers, sub and amp. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Basically plug and play but no sound.
I hear foresters is a similar setup. check out this one www.seicane.com/2008-2013-subaru-forester-android-gps-radio-dvd-player-navigation-system-touch-screen-bluetooth-obd2-dvr-tv-1080p-video-3g-wifi-ipod-usb-sd-rearview-camera-steering-wheel-control-s167068?acc=45c48cce2e2d7fbdea1afc51c7c6ad26
Hi, the link for this model seems to be down on the seicane website. Do you have a link to the same unit or an updated one that would fit and install as easily on my toyota 86 (2013)? Thanks!
I've been starting to look for a replacement radio for my '15 BRZ. What is that antenna on the back of the unit? Is it for HD Radio, and if so, what part is it?
John Nguyen so thats an oem part. Very nice man. Here in South Africa they sell the cars but nothing else. Not even a key ring. We have to import everything and it takes months to arrive. So frustrating.
"the brz and the frs doesn't have the steering wheel controls"... reall? looking at the date you uploaded the video.. The've had steering shweel controls since 2016 based on the model and trim.
@@valentinedpg Dude, I'm not sure you understand how these things work. The 2017+ model of the 'twins' has new equipment, as in new instrument cluster, new steering wheel (with controls). Dont be a troll, its unbecomming!
Does this have any type of security system if someone breaks in and tries to steal it? will it become useless to the thief? wondering if you can add a pass code to it if the battery dies or if you want to sell it later in the future to another person. thanks!!
Yes, if you have fujitsu then you should be fine when it comes to fitment. They also have one on their website labeled forester but i'm not too sure if thats for the base or harman kardon
are there any software issues with other car brands? because i looked at the measurements and it would fit my suzuki grand vitara 2008 i cant find any decent ones for my car
I went to a few local audio shops today and asked if they installed this type of headunit, 1 did a full install with upgraded infinity components and coaxial speakers and used an oscope to see how clean the deck was. He said it puts 2.39v @ 1%thd which is not bad, kenwood, clarion, alpine, sony and pioneer have decks that put out that same voltage just not their flagship lineup. They just cant recall which android version or brand it was, so would it be possible to have yours tested at a shop and post a vid? It will help us audio geeks to go with this android deck compare to the others out there
Remote wires are usually blue and white. But i went to a car audio shop yesterday and they said to splice into the ACC wire. So i'm not too sure anymore haha. Did you remember where you wired yours up to? Thank you!
I found this one, looks awesome www.seicane.com/seicane-s09255-2013-2014-ford-edge-android-dvd-player-gps-navigation-system-obd2-bluetooth-radio-hd-1024-600-touch-screen-mirror-link-dvr-tv-video-canbus-wifi-usb-sd-backup-camera-steering-wheel-control?acc=45c48cce2e2d7fbdea1afc51c7c6ad26
I just received this same headunit and I was wondering if your 10pin harness was properly wired to turn on the factory amp? Mine was missing that pin (#9) entirely. Luckily I stole the pin off another harness and tied it to the adjacent pin(#8). Also did yours come with an external microphone?
Mine didn't come with an extra microphone but it sounds okay the way it is. I've been testing it and it sounds good. I'm in my wrx and my gf in the brz. as far as turning on the factory amp i don't remember, i know mine i had to do that
Alan Dunagan you have to add pin #9 and you can connect it to pin 8 (blue color, I believe). If you cannot do that, run a jumper wire from pin 8 on the headunit side to where pin 9 would go on the factory wiring side.
thanks, i should be able to do that. it came with a few harnesses for different cars so i can probably pull something off one of those and put it on this one.
Irving Anaya is pin 8 needed or can I just move it over to pin 9? If I can get it out of the harness. By jumping it, do you mean to splice into the wires?
make sure you wire the amp turn on on the radio harness. I had the same problem. the brz/frs has an amp that only powers the door speakers. If you dont turn on the amp, the speakers don't turn on
