Amina!!!! Girl!! You done made me fall in love with my own hair! I'm 52 years old and HATED my hair! I did this and it came out beautifully!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Yeah just subscribed.
Such a great video. I love how detailed your instructions were and I especially love how efficient you are with time. Thank you for not cluttering the video with unnecessary chatter. Lots of youtubers talk way too much on off topic subject matters. Thanks for being efficient and professional.
Sheik Sheik same here. When I take the flexi rods out I literally do nothing to it. My curls last for days. I use camille rose almond twisting butter and camille rose aloe gel
I did this on freshly washed hair, but after re-watching it I completely understand why blow-dried hair gives better results lol. Can't wait to do this style again thnx!!
Hi Amina! What a lovely channel, I'm 50 this year and transitioning so this really helped. It reminds me of when my mum used to put my hair in rags (a blanket or sheets cut into long strips which she would wrap my hair around). Before the days of rods lol, I hope I can have the patience to see it through X
I’m def going to try your rodding method. I’ve never known anyone to start twisting from the bottom, but it’s a smart move & makes sense, since twisting the old way can make the hair unravel (sometimes). Thank you for this video. Your hair looks amazing!
Because of your amazingly simple and to the point video I will be trying this on my 4 month transitioning hair! I am super excited to see how it will turn out. I will now have a hairstyle that I will truly love while transitioning! Will be purchasing flexi rods tomorrow! Thank you!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! Thank you for slowly going through the process AND products step by step. I have been contemplating transitioning for about a week or so now and your videos are the best. This one makes me feel that much more confident to go forward!
Aww yay so happy to hear that! I say do it!! Let me know if you have any other questions but now is a great time to take the leap, SO many great products out there to make your transition smooth ❤️
Thank you for this video. Clear and concise. I'm so "hair challenged" lol and been wanting to play around with my hair and flexi-rods seemed to be the easiest to start with
+Delisha Renee glad it could help! Flexi rods are where I started and continued for months exclusively! They can last so long and are super versatile :) Good luck!
I am so in love with your videos, and I learn soo much from them. You and my son really influenced me to go back to natural. I am 2 months without a relaxer and heat, yayyy, Keep doing your videos. New subscriber here. I think your videos is one of the best tutorials on RU-vid and very simple to follow.! I'm nervous and excited for this journey! Thanks for these videos!👏👏🤗❤
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!! ❤️❤️❤️ Congratulations on the start of your new journey and for having such a supportive son! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Love to hear it! Let me know if you have any other questions along the way 😊
Your hair came out so beautiful and you really know how to keep the frizz away which I always have problems with unless I style with my denman brush. Thanks for sharing!💕
I love your videos...I have beautiful curls but they got damaged a year ago..I had my hair colour waited 2 wks before i wash. When i did no curls just straight hair..maybe the colour was too strong or a product used during flat ironing etc..My curls are coming back now .half is curly half straight😊 as i said this happened a year ago.last October..I love this video i went to a salon in july and the stylist told me to try flexirods😊i havent yet .but i will soon..after i trim it in December.I know two people with the name Amina..one is my daughter-inlaw the other is my friends daughter😊I am an island person so i love my curls..i do miss it and i cant wait for it to come back..You are a pretty lady...My daughter scold me when i flat iron ..she loves my curls..She is 31
Aww I’m sorry that happened, but sometimes it’s a great reminder for us to have a new kind of appreciation for our natural hair! Sometimes if our hair color is lifted too high, too fast it can cause that kind of damage 😓 but lucky for you to already know your beautiful healthy curls and have a good support system! Your curls will be back before you know it! ❤️❤️
Your hair looks amazing!! This is a kind of weird question, but did you do anything special to get your roots to lay down so well? Mine have always been pretty puffy and resistant to laying flat.
I have studied this tutorial for months and I cannot get my spirals to hang.... The curls tend to sit right on my head like they are scared to fall or something.... Kinda given up on this style although I really like it on you!
I fear mine will be the same as u have very fine hair I think you need think hair that's heavy enough to drop better...just done mine waiting for them to dry but no way will they last till evening let alone sleeping with them in the roda already are hanging ☹
Wow!! These came out so beautifully on you!!! I want to try this hairstyle, but I was wondering would it still work if I just let my hair freely air dry without a blow dryer or any twist outs? Thank you!!
Love your videos. I am just transitioning and have no idea what my curl pattern will be...Could you give some advice on remoisturzing hair after exercising?
Dionne Daley I didn't know completely until my hair was fully natural so don't worry about that just yet! :) I'll be doing a video on working out with natural and transitioning hair but I recommend pineappling hair into one to two high ponytails (one on top and one in the middle) to keep body heat and sweat from messing up any hair styles +renate norman
this is one of my favorite styles i can't wait to try it! i do have one question. Do you blow dry your hair before you use the flexi rods or just use your natural hair or comb it out?
+Alex James in this style I just put my combed hair in twists and let it airdry but you can blow dry it on the cooler setting to get it mostly dry. It works best on dry/dryer hair because your roots get stretched out and don't tangle and the style sets much faster!
+Meghan Marks I'm so happy to hear that!! I put it up in two pineapples overnight and wrap the sides with a satin scarf. Check out my night time routine, at the beginning I show how I wrap my hair :)
Hi Amina you inspire me so much to achive my natural hair! I have one question, how do you air dry your hair?, i dont know why but my roots get so hard to detangle when i air dry pleasee help me (sorry for the bad english, i'm from Spain 😅😘)
+Saraderni123 thank you! I always make sure to detangle and style my hair before air drying it to make sure that everything dries nicely. Other than that, I just go about my day and let it dry on its own! If you need to fluff it up, just use a pick at the roots but that's it!
great video! I'm really thinking about giving the flexi rods a try and transitioning. do you work out at all? any recommendations for styling while working out or a bun the only option? :-/
Does the color of the flexi rod I purchase depend on the length of my hair? I have very short hair, about 5 inches of relaxed is still on my head. New growth, maybe 1 to 2 inches, is rather matted.
Hey what did you decide? First time trying mine with the flexi and they want to fall out...uf they do wont know if this works for me and wint want to spend money on perm ones if it just nit going to work.
In video you mentioned a knock off brush... what was the name? Could not hear clearly or maybe just not familiar. It was mentioned around 54 to 58 seconds unto video. Thx
Are you doing this only on washbday? But how do you manage this hairstyle DAILY? Am I going to be doing this every night (without the styling products, I assume). Thx
Hi Amina! I absolutely LOVE your videos! I'm brand brand new to transitioning (today is week 1) and I wanted to know is it okay to just let my hair air dry while it's down or do I have to put them in twists first? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!!
Hi Alexis!! Congratulations on taking the first big step and starting your transition! Air drying is always ok, our hair loves it! Twists in this case help to section your hair to keep it detangled while it dries. Since you’re new you don’t have to worry so much about this yet, but as your hair gets more volume it really helps to air dry this way to keep tangles out :)
My hair is straight damaged like if i wash it it dries up and its in straight formation but it feels puffy dry dull breakable and ugly am i rlly able to transform to health for my curls?
First off, I absolutely love your videos and immediately subscribed as soon as I started watching them! I'm just starting into my transitioning journey back to my natural hair. I haven't seen my natural curls in probably 12+ years, but your hair honestly reminds me a lot of how mine used to be
Thank you so much!! ❤️ Congrats on the start of your transition! 🎉 You can do either way! My relaxed / transitioning hair seemed to dry much faster than my natural hair. However the reason I dried and then misted is because I want my roots to lay down as much as possible because it’s hard to control them with flexi rods. If your roots are relatively tame then starting on damp hair shouldn’t be a problem but if your roots are starting to puff up from the natural curl I recommend letting them dry and stretch out a bit first. Hope that helps!
@@AminaMarie Ah I see! Thank you so much for your help and encouragement! It's definitely been an adjustment to wrangle the 2 (almost equally course) textures, but I'm looking forward to the eventual result and can't wait to try out this style. Thanks again! :)
+salvaila richardson you definitely don't have to dry it first, I just do so that my roots aren't wet and can be stretched out a little more. It also helps them dry a lot faster but if you have plenty of time to let them set then yes!
+Amanda Pettway thank you! I just put it up in two pineapples (ponytail at the top and pony at the bottom) at night and rerod any the could use love to stretch it for a week or two! For a week of natural styles and maintenance in general I have a video for that too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QPGEd1NuV-Q.html
When some of the curls get frizzy or messed up do you have to repeat the process of applying the gel and cream or can you just twist that part up using the rod?
+Lil K if it's the next day or two I'll use just a little cream and a little gel but I don't wet it - if I do it'll just be a teeny tiny drop. It makes drying a lot easier!
I'm confused... so no heat means no blow drying or straight iron? But I can do the flexiRods and dry it under a dryer is ok? Or is that considered heat damage as well? This is month 4 into transitioning and I have no idea how to get cute curls 😒 #help
Vane Casella some people strictly use no heat so they may let it air dry, sleep with it over night or as she did...she only used it on the cool and warm setting switching between the two so it wouldn't cause any heat damage PLUS she's not transitioning so the warm setting is okay for her to use. I'm transitioning as well 5 1/2 months in but I don't use a straightening iron OR a blow dryer...I just do protective styles the natural way and let it air dry or sleep with it over night and let it dry!
TiffanyzCurls now what if I want to wash it in the morning and have it dry by night ... I usually do roller set... is that considered heat damage?! Thanks for replying this transition is brutal! Over 30 years of processed hair!
Transitioning is a lot and a bit frustrating for me 😩. If you use a hooded drier it's not direct heat so it's fine. Just don't use drying tools on hot settings...switching between cool and warm is fine.
+Vane Casella no heat means no direct heat so no flat / curling irons or super high heat blow drying. Blow dryers are a LIFE saver because nobody has time to air dry every time lol so yes, hooded/regular dryer between the warm and cool setting is fine!
+Nelsa Feaster I plan on doing a roller set to stretch my hair and show how you can get heatless straight hair so you'll be able to see a little better then 😊
+Sahar Ali I air dried my hair in twists after detangling and then brushed it out again. It can work on wet hair but it requires A LOT more drying time and it's hard to keep roots under control so I prefer hair to be dried and stretched (at least most of the way) ahead of time 👍🏽
