just got a 7 string which came with standard tuning BEADGBe and i wanted to play in DROP A# and the tuning just messed with my head, the top 7nth string is half step down i.e it goes from B to A# and the 6th string was in E and i needed to tune it down to F, so when we say "DROP" i thought we need to lower it and thats exactly what i did, but it went an octave lower and the string was pretty looose. after that i came across this video and i understood that DROP always doesnt mean you need to lower your tuning xD

@@ghostxmetal Yup! "Drop" just means the lowest string is tuned down so the lowest three strings make a power chord.

To people breaking strings u gota take your time and let them stretch I use ernie super slinky 7s I get everything in tune but the f is a c and I just gradually take that up to the f every 20 mins 30 mins I pull on my string from the frets board to help them stretch to

Same as C standard. Just add a 60-62 for the low A#

I use 9-12-16-24-32-44-68 for this on a 26.5" scale. Pretty even tension across all the strings, and not too tight. It feels like 10s or 10.5s on a 25.5" six-string.

Ernie ball mammoth slinky, 12-62. They're specially designed for these tuning.

@@loztx843 Thinner gauge, you don't need as much tension. I use 9-12-16-24-32-44-68 for this tuning on a 26.5" scale.

Assuming you're using Floyd Rose, never detune without reducing tension on your high strings.

Most bands that use this tuning usually do but on 6 string. Shouldn't be an issue, though. Unless you're doing leads.

i dont think that there is a drop b on a 7 string, drop b on a 7 string is just normal tuning. B E A D G B e. if you would want to play 6 string drop b on a 7 string, i think it would be B E A D G f# E

A good way to tune this is take the f on the high string and put it at the bottom. FA#FA#D#G#C. It’s still drop b but just add a low string to the B flat standard

@@tincanaroni4720 Drop B on a 7-string would be B-F#-B-E-A-C#-F#. All strings would be tuned up a whole step except for the lowest string.

It is possible, but you need light strings and 25.5 scale, preferably.
