As usual Sam, outstanding work and outstanding video! 💪🏼 I’m a little disappointed you’ve chosen the same bonnet scoop as every man and their dog is using these days but if it makes you happy then that’s all that matters. Awesome gapping job! Love it!!!
I like your ideas for gapping. On my boys Q build, I tacked angle iron pieces to 1, gain the gaps I need, 2, hold the doors in place too. Made it also easier for when I removed gutters, and keep character lines in roof, and gain the roof overlap to door. Super impressed with your build. Can’t wait to see it in shows
Thanks Mate. The filler rods bend nice with the door and it dont take too long to weld them on. Its a nice simple way to get a good edge. Actually got the idea off someone else so wont take the credit for it. Looking forward to entering it into some shows when its done
Excellent job man !!! This is exactly how I do all my car including my hq tonner which had bad gaps like yours to many cars out there with beautiful paint jobs but gaps are all over shop first thing I look at is gaps on any car specially mine 😂
Haha totally agree mate. After spending time doing them it's the first thing I look at too. Do you use the 1mm cutting disk like I done? Curious as I was not sure if there could be another way.
@@ShenkeGarage yes In fact I do the same using the 1mm disc in this situation and similar, the amount of time you would waste taking the guard on and off like you said in vid Exceptional work man !! Your sills were surprisingly heaps out wonder if old dodgy repairs or just the way it come out of the factory as I never seen that before and where you made the cut that looked factory in that are ?? My sills were 👌 when I done my gapping before painting it
Im pretty sure both sill panels were replaced prior to me owning the car. I bought the tonner with a fresh paint job. I did not realise 16 years ago when I bought it how much dodgy work was done to it. I pretty much repaired everything on this tonner except the sill panels. I wish I just cut them out and welded in new ones so I know it would be done right.
Great job as always Sam. You should be very happy with the results. All this extra attention to detail will pay off when you put some color on the panels. 👍🏻
I think it's well worth it Mate. Will set your build off nicely. I see yours is coming along nicely too. Nice hardware in that ute. Was also going to reach out shortly to fill my interior with some of your buttons.
@@ShenkeGarage just shoot me a message when your at that stage but generally I ship them out pretty quick so you can hold off right up until your at the wiring stage.
What does the scoop do???? Just Sayin, not my cup of tea unless theyre functional. You go right ahead. Great build young fella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Mate. So I believe the theory is as follows. The air flowing over the bonnet while driving will create a High pressure pocket at the back of the scoop where it meets the window. The pressure underneath the scoop and the bonnet will be lower so this will create a vacuum and the high pressure air will flow into the low pressure area. So it forces cool air into the bonnet. Cooler air = more power. Well that's the theory and I like the look of them rather than just an air cleaner sticking out the bonnet.
Thanks Mate. Yes thats what I done. Bolt hinges and leave them kinda loose and then bolt door to hinges. Adjust bolts to cab then adjust bolts to door.
I think it turned out great. I've seen people use bog in many videos and I am not a fan of that way. There is not much for the bog to hang onto on the edges. Could easily chip off.
@@carsnthingsrestos31 Seems to work for many builders I have seen. Personally I just wanted to use steel in mine. Understand if time is a factor then filler would be a good option....
@@carsnthingsrestos31 Each to thier own , i personally prefer steel over filler for this application..Currently restoring a couple of VN's. In the past restoed lots of H series Holdens mainly J ,X ,Z and WB.'S. Watching your vids brings back good memories, i enjoy them , keep them coming.
