I worked at a steel mill in USA in the late 70's. We had an electric furnace that we melted steel, poured, & stripped down. A machine would cut the ingots in blocks like the beginning of this video. I've always missed that job. Got laid off/ unemployed due to Recession. I miss factory work.

Perfet video.I have been a railroad welder in mexico.30 years ago meaby you dont believed.but I fixed the holes whit weldin with 7018 soldering and after grinder.and never had traubles.

Yes everything is computer controlled from control rooms. Years ago this whole process was done manually with steam powered presses and manually operated handling equipment. It was very hot dirty work that required highly skilled operators to produce a quality forging.

What's amazing is 50 years ago one adult could work at a factory like this and provide for their entire family. Today, BOTH parents work, the population has increased by 25 millions, and current technology makes each of those workers 5x as productive. And yet, both parents work and can barely support a family.
