This channel is underrated - the videos are well filmed and edited, instructions are clear with animated graphics and backed by data and research. You guys have great energy and obviously enjoy what you are doing and in return makes us enjoy the video more. There are a lot of tennis lessons on youtube focusing on what not to do and the negative vibe makes me not want to play at all. I do think sometimes the jokes and outtakes distract us from the really nice insights and maybe it'll be better to keep them in a B-reel at the end but that's just my opinion.
It is funny that 5.2% speed contribution due to forearm pronation is called massive technique and game change, while 54.2% speed contribution thanks to upper arm internal rotation should have been emphasized more. Imaging 5% of improvement of any technique means nothing for most of us. A misguiding tennis technique video here!
@@ve1803 Nope, you're wrong. I've been pronating since I watched their videos and it put ZERO pressure on the shoulder when combined with let drive and proper trophy pose and racquet drop.
Only having discovered your channel recently, I find it to be the best one by far for carefully connecting the biomechanical science with the actual tennis motion. Outstanding. Keep your videos coming!
I finally understand how to serve based on your vid. There are hundreds of other vids but I haven’t been able to transfer any of them to the court side. Thank you. I mean I’m not there yet and it’s always WIP but on the right track. My contact point is now correct and the serve is hit cleanly.
Your coaching how to serve in general and fundamentals are so helpful!! I thought I was serving correctly until I found your serve lessons in RU-vid. Still struggling with changes I needed to make but it makes perfect sense and it actually works tremendously when things starts to click. Keep doing what you do coaches we love you for your thorough teaching not only in serve but all other skills!! 😊👍🎾👌🫡
I believe that with the proper grip and being loose enough, leading on edge and pronation occur naturally. I have a feeling all of the top servers when they were young didn't even know what pronation was, but they were able to be loose enough to implement the correct mechanics early on.
Probably, I was never taught pronation and do it, but not to the extreme amount that the pros do which feels pretty unnatural without specifically training it.
I agree with this 100%. I'm pretty sure no one told Stan Smith, Dick Stockton, Chip Hooper, Yannick Noah, Boris Becker, Ivanisevic, Sampras and so many others about pronation. Tennis coaches today try too hard to be all-knowing and I have a feeling that they would complicate rather than simplify things. This guy in particular I find annoying he seems immature and giggles like an idiot.
OMG, just found you guys and wish I had sooner. I love the energy and enthusiasm combined with the science behind things. You break it down very nicely and I love the graphics. Personally I like that you also have fun in your videos as you're just the type of coach I'd love to have. And you're right, getting the blueberries on the pancakes properly is key to a good service game.
The most complete explanations on pronation I've seen. The fact that he classified it with forearm and internal shoulder rotation shows its quality, IMHO. Anyway thanks. I wonder who the dr. Elliott is. Lol.
Love these videos -- great instruction and delivery! It would be great to see some WTA players included in the pro technique clips used in the videos throughout the channel.
Very nice video and great job. Beware, if you manufacture pronation, more than anything you will get golfers’s elbow which will affect ur forehand later. this is the best video I ve seen. Thanks for the share.
The serve is probably the most complex stroke in tennis utilizing pretty much every part of the body. Legs, hips, back, shoulder, forearms, and wrist. It's like sending a shockwave of force from the ground through your body to your hands to get maximum racquet head speed. And this channel explains it very thoroughly. 👍
Bro, I love you. All your videos helped me with PERFECT practice make perfect. Your video lessons are better than the several hour session with a qualified coach. I bought your home court advantage last year to keep up with practice at home. Thank you.
Hey Aladdin! Comments like this are what inspire us to make these videos - much appreciated 😁 It takes a great student with good work ethic to go out to the court and make it happen. Thanks for being such a star!
No, did you say 3k likes ??? Bro what an explanation. Checking up all the boxes, i didn't know even know that i didn't know, that exist!!! Hands down 🙌🏽
Great vid! I was wondering if you could cover weight training and exercises for tennis players off the court. This would include specific workouts/tips.
Wow 5000th like! I was over rotating through the arm and started to get medial epicondylitis from it. I’m going to experiment with stretching the pecs and shoulder then doing serves that rotate from the shoulder when my tendons are less inflamed. Thanks!
samprus is using a short axis pronation which is the way I do according to my coach, it is like the weapon of Bruce Lee, to accelerate the racket head speed by shorten the length or the radius suddenly.
That is a great point indeed! If you have the shoulder mobility, strength and joint stabilization, I've noticed it to be one of the best types of post-contact rotations that also creates so much spin (hence Sampras' deadly kick) 😉
Thank you bro. Just discovered your channel and it helps a lot. Really love your enthusiasm 😀 and humor. Will try all your tips and win better my matches ...
In the clip, where he say counter clockwise (59 seconds into the video) this is the illustration. While he says that, notice which way the arrow is pointing. He should have said clockwise, not counterclockwise, unless you are the opponent looking at the server, then it would be counter clockwise, and we are looking from the perspective of the server, thus clockwise.
what a wonderful movie turned out, and what magnificent views around the court, I just want to go to training. from Moscow with love. ❤️🎾🇷🇺 PS With you, I am not only learning to play tennis, but also learning to speak English.
Here I am again. Two years into trying to learn how to serve I am back to this video where my research for correction begun. My serve still doesn't exist. I'll give it another try.
Conceptually one should get more speed by continuing internal rotation past contact due to not slowing down into contact but the racquet head slows down so much at impact that one can probably go into impact at full speed and still have very little external rotation past impact. The main reason for involuntary internal rotation past release in throwing is deceleration and that just isn’t an issue with serving due to how much the racquet slows at impact (and because the hand isn’t moving as fast given that a racquet is much heavier than a baseball.)
Excellent video! Could you talk about strings and tensions? I was curious which string is this green one you use! It would be great to talk about these topics!
Is there any exercise to work out this pronation action of your arm and shoulder, with a weight instead of the racquet? In order to develop the supple movement.
i've tried this technique, but to make sure im in the right way, what should my arm feel, after execution. is it my wrist, fore arm or shoulder should be feel more tense?
Great video! However, I think what you’re missing in your videos is what do you even do on contact? Like let’s say I do everything right in your video, but if I just keep hitting the ball at the wrong angle or the wrong brush motion then it’s all pointless. For example, if a player hits a forehand with a “windshield wiper” on contact they will never generate the same amount of rpm or “heaviness” as someone who skims the top of the ball and follows through like the pros. What players do at contact is insanely crucial. Without including that part in your videos, then it’s really hard to see the effects of the kinetic chain. If what you’re doing on contact is wrong, i feel like it just won’t work 🙁. I know because I used to do a windshield wiper forehand. Then, my coach told me I’m doing everything wrong on contact and once I did things correctly on contact, my forehand was incredible. I hope maybe you could add that to your videos going forward. That is the key ingredient you’re missing.
