In this video, I explain and show every step used to create super smooth shape morph transitions using shape layers in After Effects. We'll explore different techniques and tools you can use to break down the process into smaller steps, mirror shapes, find appealing shapes to use between the morphs, parent elements together for more control and plan ahead to create a cohesive and impactful transition.

Great tutorial as always! At 10:40 in terms of mirroring, you could use a Repeater (2 copies, no position offset, -100% on x, use anchor point to center). This way it's all still on one layer, but it respects any layer transforms or effects you put on top of it :)

Always good to optimise your path in Illustrator, using the pathfinder panel (divide, trim, merge) before bringing into AE

Nice tutorial overall, learned a lot even though it took me a while to get through this with only beginner skills. One big downside is that mess with the extra points in your shapes is extremely confusing when you're trying to follow this, not to complain but just as feedback 😉

Unfortunatelly with complex shapes changing the first vertex wont change how after mess up everything, so you have to do everything manually

0:25 hello Ben. Is there a way to make the animation or video low fps just like in this scene? It's like the low fps effect in the movie Spider Man into the Spider Verse. It looks quite aesthetic and beautiful. I want to learn this so I can prepare social media posts, but I couldn't find the right source. I previously lowered the composition's default 24 fps, but I wasn't getting the result I wanted.

If I understood correctly, it's the Rotation Tool. It is located on the top bar to the left of the Anchor Point tool.

If you edit the path points of a shape, you can double click on the shape and then you'll be able to rotate if I'm correct.
