I got mine a few days ago. Has a few dings on it from freight shipping, but it's so minor I don't mind at all. This is the best table I have ever owned. I use it for a PC set up and I have some serious heavy equipment and this is still overkill. I love the way It looks too. The solid butcher block top is just wonderful. I bought it because of this video. Thank you for the time you put in to making it and educating us. cheers!
The only problem with these is that the tops are very soft. If you write on a piece of paper lying on the surface, it will transfer and mark up the surface. If you look at it wrong, it will dent and scratch. Don’t drop your keys on it, even from a few inches, it will dent. I have four of these in my shop, and they are already all scarred up, even being extremely careful. I’ve just accepted the fact that I will have to refinish them often. lying
@rodgraff1782 I use mine for very heavy PC setups, my equipment has been moved on and off my bench in different ways over a year now. No scratches or dinging that I see. I don't use this for tools or workshop needs. But bear in mind some of the pc cases that are used in my custom builds are over 50lbs with parts. So I doubt I'll run into a problem based on not having one yet after this long. And if so it was a 200 dollar bench at Sam's. No huge loss.
I live in a condo and had to carry 4 flights of stairs. I did open the box and brought parts piece by piece but that butcher block was super heavy. I did all by myself. 1 thing to note: make sure you don't over tighten the legs to the butcher block. Can break/loosen the threadlock.
By any chance can you measure the dimensions of inner leg to inner leg? And the depth from the back bar to the front. I am going to add ikea alex drawers underneath and trying to see which ones to order/how many would fit and how far they would stick out. I just found your page and am loving the honest and simple reviews. You jumping to lay on the bench made me laugh. I have been eyeing this bench for awhile and just ordered two for my home office/craft set up!! I also used your link for the dual monitor stand because part of my hesitation was the amount of table space my monitors take up and this being only 25 inches deep. So grateful. Thanks for this review and thanks in advance if you happen to have a chance to measure!
Thanks for making this. Would this workbench be stable without screwing the screws into the table, but, rather simply setting the countertop on the frame? The countertop I already have and would like to use instead is heavy and I'd be using this workbench too as an inside table so I'm not worried about the countertop flipping over as much as I am about whether the underframe needs the table to be screwed into it in order for the underframe to be stable... What are your thoughts? Thanks!
@@NewParentsInTraining Yes, it may slip and fall and I might just take that chance since I am not a parent... But the frame doesn't NEED the countertop screwed in for the FRAME to be steady, does it?
Thanks for watching, you can check out this video on the monitors ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DSGwPZBdf6g.html, and you can buy them at amzn.to/2NhFAW0.
How did you end up mounting your monitor arms? The steel bracket toward the back is pretty flush to the edge, it makes me worried about using monitor clamps. Did you end up clamping it right over the steel?
@@NewParentsInTraining This may be a dumb question but how high is that bottom crossbar? Can you fit your feet or toes under it? If you raise the bottom circular feet you could get more height but I was wondering how it was in your setup?
It's been great! Hold up really well, it's really heavy duty, no issues to the table whatsoever. However, because it's heavy it does leave imprints on my wooden floor where the legs on the table are.
@@NewParentsInTraining I’m surprised. I bought four of these this year, and mine are extremely soft and dent and scratch very easily, even when I write on them . I am extremely careful and very picky about trying to keep them nice, but I have given up. Otherwise they are very nice products.
@@NewParentsInTraining Thanks for the fast reply! Is the desk hard enough that you can write with pen on it? I am picking up one tomorrow if they are still in stock.
@@NewParentsInTraining Suppose I am writing on a single sheet of paper with a pen - some softer woods can get scratched from this. Hardwoods typically do not but because this is a work bench, not a writing desk, I did not know if the wood would be hard enough.
I have four of these, and even just writing in paper on them will leave an imprint. They dent and scratch extremely easily. The tops may look like butcher block hardwood, but it is far from it.
