i was arranging all in the pattern, basically remaking the pattern from scratch every time i wanted the beat to change. i like your process, it's efficient
So, you can definitely do the whole convert to MIDI and separate by pitches thing, but you can ALSO just copy the yellow drum region and past it again and then go in and modify each one of those, which gives you the really easy ability to add custom stuff in without having to do a new MIDI region and draw or play all the notes out. It's a little less destructive. Great video!
appreciate that alexander! yeah when i made this video it was within the first week of the update. so i will probably post a part 2 of this video soon since i have heard wayyyyyyy more tricks of the trade and easier ways to do everything
I can’t wait for them to allow you to upload all of your outside samples into the daw. You do have the option but it’s where you do it by clicking export and then add to loop library. It be so much easier to be able to go to sound library and uploading all the outside samples from there. But they don’t have that option. It be very convenient and so much easier on us to be able to do that.
Hey man ! Thanks so much for your help, I was stuck in the transition from the update and was so frustrated but, you made my day ! Have a good one brother link up if you need anything ✌️
I got one question when I use my 808s in the drum machine they sound muddy and they aren’t cut by them selves how do I make it so it doesn’t clash with the other 808s???
liked the video before I watched this tutorial just cus I like your vibe. Edit: I have learned a lot about this feature thank you. but I can't figure out how to get the beat to match my piano melody I laid down first. It was fine then when I went to repeat all the stuff it sounds off sync and terrible. do you know how to fix that? or what I did wrong?
I finished my drums and when I control click on the pattern region I don't see an option to convert the pattern region to a MIDI region. Does anyone know why this is or have similar issues? I ended up using the keyboard shortcut to convert to MIDI and it worked, but then you also have to separate by note pitch which also did not show up when I control clicked the MIDI region, and there is no shortcut for that :(
@@JamaalAbiade Nice video, I gotta get a new Mac before I can update Logic. Lol Just a suggestion, when transposing in the piano roll, it's easy to use quick commands to move them up or down. That way you can move them fast and they will never move out of timing. You can hold down the Option key and press the Up or Down Arrow to move notes. You can also hold the Option and Shift keys and press the Up or Down Arrow to move notes by whole octaves.
This all seem so complicated but fun. Thanks for making it look easy with simplicity. Im a song writer wanting to expand my knowledge. Thanks Alot. Time to work💯
@@JamaalAbiade wow thank you so much! honestly finding your channel has helped me rediscover my love for this stuff in a time when i reeeeally needed it!! cant thank you enough.
Thanks for the tutorial!! :) I'm getting into trap beat style music at the moment!! This was helpful!! Also, just an f.y.i. command R is a timesaver also!! You don't have to command C then mark then command V it just duplicates right in front of the previously highlighted parts!
I've been using FL for years but last week, got a MacBook and decided to get Logic since I've heard it has amazing stock plugins and its only $200. However, in Logic trying to do drums was like pulling teeth. Things that would take seconds or minutes with FL were maddening with Logic!
yeah FL deff is user friendly when i comes to drums. Very simple for everyone to get to hang of. But dealing with vocals and stock plugins logic is undefeated in my opinion
@@JamaalAbiade Thank you by the way for this! DMD defo seems fairly easy to use especially with your tutorial. hank you for this video. It's worth more than gold!
Hi Jamal, where can I download a nice pack of Drums, Kicks, Snares, Hi-Hats etc.. The ones logic offers, are not that good. They don't sound sound like yours. If you can send me a link, that'll be great. BTW, I really like your videos !
😮 Man! I was just thinking that Logic was being left behind against FL studio and Live, I usually use Maschine to come up with my drums because it was faster to me to program drum patterns in it, but this is a game changer! Thanx for sharing this man. 💣💣💣
I hit a roadblock. When I hold Ctrl and click the area I wanted the pattern, I don’t see the option to “create pattern region” I only see create empty midi region. I’m using logic 10.4 Any suggestions?
why does drum machine designer and step sequencer make my kicks so quiet? i am having a hard time getting my kicks to sound the way i want them to. whenever i drag in a kick from my file library straight into logic as an audio file or in ultrabeat, it KNOCKS as it should. however, whenever i drag in a kick into the drum machine designer, step sequencer, or sampler, it is significantly quieter. what am i doing wrong? i don't want to add EQ or compressors because the way it sounds by default is already good.
When you drop samples to the DMD every icon is green , when I drop it only the first sample for example the kick is green and everything else I drop does not turn green and also I can't play the dmd samples with my midi keyboard. if u can shed some light on my problem I would appreciate it.
I can separate it in midi region but not by pitch, I don't see that option on my Logic Pro x :(. is the same version, can you help me guys? best regards ❤️
bro. BRO! beginner here man and I gotta say this Is by far the most knowledge I've gained in one tutorial video that I have watched since starting my journey on mastering logic. im hyped as hell after watching this. professional and beautiful explained! you killed it bro GREAT FUCKING VIDEO!!!!!!!
Just got Logic (switching from Reason, I’ve used for 4 years) and I’ve been bouncing around different Logic video tutorials and I gotta say that this one is by far the best one. Straight to the point, taught everything perfectly, and made a beautiful soulful trap beat. Thank you brother, God bless 🙏🏽🌊🏄🏽♂️ Time to make some music
so i can't use no more ultrabeat pls someone explain this to me im mad af i can't figure this out why i don't have the drag and drop shit in ultrabeat fuck
Thank you so much for this beautiful tutorial Jamal! I was pretty scared on transitioning from FL to Logic after getting a MacBook and now I feel like I'm gonna start today :).
starting way b4 that ...no file ... nothing... I need to start from jump .. this is a couple of steps ahead of the beginning .. will have to find a different vid for that. hopefully I can use this later
Thanks for this video just upgraded...How do you use the 808 with a midi keyboard instead of the MacBook virtual keyboard you're using that's chopping the 808 up for you ?
