@@pfunkle It'll be more suitable for everyday driving. As it sits, its probably not comfortbable enough. Yeah we know its suppose to be a lightweight car but reality is for every day driving it it needs to be just a tad bigger.
@@tuanas458 stock the miata is very comfortable i myself have an mx5RF i used to own en mini Clubman and the mini clubman was stiffer than that although the mx5 is a bit louder even with my RF model but i dont really mind but yeah the miata has very soft suspension so you can feel very well what is going on as for going on a holiday with it yeah you cant take your kids with you XD but the trunk is big enough for 2 suitcases so traveling with your wife or girlfriend shouldt be an issue and else you can get a rack for the trunk so you can fit another bag up there its kinda like what are you willing to sacrifice to drive possibly the best sports car for sale today in terms of fun
@@tuanas458 i don't know if you're trolling or not. It's a 1000kg car with a near perfect size and weight rationand it should stay that way forever. If you need a car to do you shopping hauls, get a cheap old miata as a fun side car.
It is gratifying to see an MX-5 with the same spec as mine give a good account of itself on this demanding track. This owner’s build is still a sports car, it’s NOT a race car. The result is a comfortable and drama-free excursion of the course at respectable speed. The sports-car marriage of modest power, low weight, first-class shifting, steering, and braking, and a fully adjustable all-alloy suspension, result in a high level of engagement, and therefore maximum driving pleasure. A skilled driver like Moshi demonstrates for us the car’s effortless ability to manage transitions. In addition, the wide powerband and close-ratio 6-speed (no overdrive) means the engine is at the right revs on all parts of the track. The speeds attained by the car around the course are impressive but not scary. The chassis is never overwhelmed, and the driver’s skill is rewarded without the need of a 500 hp engine. Honestly, a GT3 would be wasted on my middling skill level: I’d be too afraid of screwing up to have much fun. But then, I am not a racer. I can drive my ND2 nearly flat-out without apprehension because its modest acceleration gives me time to think ahead and plan for the next corner. Once I get to that corner, I don’t have to stand on the brakes before the apex, and I carry more speed through and out of the corner. There is a tendency for more powerful cars to fall behind mine on a twisty road because they lose so much speed in the corners. If you find an ND2 inadequate for back-road dicing, you might want to ask yourself if your velocity is excessive on an unpredictable public roadway.
As an ND owner who only recently started binging your videos, all I can say is perfect timing! You and this car do us proud :) amazing setup and driving
You have an amazing machine, even tho its not powerful, its one of the most enjoying to ride... I didnt ride one but like, I'm playing kinda alot of Assetto Corsa and MX5 ND/Cup are my one of most fav cars.
And that's why Miata is always the answer. They are just so fun, so satisfying to drive and so dynamic. My dad had 2 NBs and currently has an ND MX-5. I drove both and absolutely loved their road feel and chuck-ability. Yes they are momentum cars but damn good ones and you can still get it sideways pretty easily on stock tires. So good. Also: I've never seen a passenger on a Nordschleife lap look this disinterested and bored - I bet he wasn't but his face just didn't move :D
What a coincidence, I just test drove MX5 ND 2.0 (160 ps though) today after trying a trackday lesson and a few more laps on my Cupra Born. Which sadly is too heavy for its own good in terms of breaking and tyre wear. Especially the lack of a differential is very noticeable. Tyres are screaming for their life in every corner. MX5 felt so composed in comparison. Now I stumbled over Mishas channel again after years of abstinence. Thanks for the video. Gotta love the MX5 coverage ♥
@@CasD1806 that will be great ! I currently own a 1.5 ND mostly stock except Bilstein B12 kit and Cobalt exhaust since 2019 and im wondering if i will go full turbo with bbr turbo kit when i will have the money or if i will just go for ND2 with bbr super 200 😅 that's a headache to choose beetween both
This thing puts on speed so much better than Robert Serwanski's NC in his 7-37 lap ... I'm enjoying alt tabbing between the vids corner for corner and seeing the differences. A well-sorted NC with stock engine internals vs this ND with two people ... makes me wonder what is possible from a similarly cranked up ND.
@@christopherjohnston6343stock they are great for spirited road driving. Loads of grip and great feedback and feeling. For track use any car needs the proper set up. Good place to start though
This is the type of driving I like most on the road. Nothing too crazy. But I'll tell you, this MX5 is seems really great. I drove a standard NB for about 6 months, and it was nothing like this👌🏻
@@murk4545 Tires and high temp brake fluid are always the first two most important things. (although if you've got fresh/new tires that don't need replacement, nothing wrong with using them up, learning the car at lower limits, before upgrading to stickier rubber. Tires will make the biggest difference in track times, but it's probably best to go a little slower at first anyway. So I guess technically, high temp brake fluid is the absolute 1st best thing to "mod") Then track-rated brake pads (prepare for some squeal during road use). After this you'll get different opinions. Brake calipers, a proper bucket seat (a lot of folks underestimate how important it is to the driving and feel of a car is related to how secure you are in your seat) are the next two things I would do. Then I would say spend some money on a pro-driver coach...
Great car and a great drive! Love to see a low hp car passing ‘more capable’ cars. Can tell Misha loves a car when he gets that smirk. Kudos to owner chilling as the car flies through the corners.
I love these somewhat affordable, light and nimble cars. There's just something about conserving energy in corners as you can't compensate with a high-power engine, and being able to ride flat out in situations where a supercar would be too much.
I have both NA and NB Roadsters and it is awesome to see what a well set up ND can do in the hands of an expert round the Ring! Awesome video!👊👍….. if he hasn’t already fitted them, braided brake hoses to replace the factory ones will make a huge difference to the pedal feel.
Recently drove an ND for the first time and it was a massive shift in perspective for me. It was a ND2 with Feels coils and 245 performance tires and everything about it drove so sharply. And the 181hp in the ND2 is more than sufficient
What I love the most in AC with this car is how forgiving it is when you overcook it in corners. You can have so much fun pushing it and being able to make all the corrections when you go a bit too hard!
Excellent! I really enjoyed the quick lap. Miata is so underrated by many… but don’t underestimate her. Balance, power, and weight…. Will eat you up every time.
We have a 2004 Miataspeed with 22k miles Just a great overall fun car to drive! I had it on the Tail of the Dragon and couldn't get the smile off my face I've had a Miata around the Nurburgring many times but late at night I have to shut down my iRacing rig 😅
Once you get used to driving an ND every other performance car, no matter how much faster in a straight line, just feels bulky and cumbersome. Conversely, if you're used to driving one of those heavier cars, getting into an ND feels like driving a feather.
Miata is a car that puts a smile on anyone's face. Glad it got Misha's perfect stamp of approval. I liked the video even before i started watching it lol
Always loved MX-5's lightweight economy track car with a simple dual cam 4 banger great little machines I'm glad theyre still around thanks for the footage when I get paid I'll buy you a coffee in the form of a patreon XD
Miatas are delivered in a soft state of suspension tune because half the owner base does not drive fast and does not want a stiff ride. All my ND2 needs is a set of sway bars with firmer bushings and a race-specification alignment to transform the car at minimum expense, while retaining its nice daily driving qualities.
Uno de los modelos biplaza descapotables o convertibles más bonitos del mercado, y divertido por invitar a la conducción deportiva. El Miata nunca envejece y sabe adaptarse a los tiempos.
I'm impressed with what that little car can do. It must be super light to go that fast with very little horsepower. It is funny to see Misha smiling while driving that car. You can see he wished it had a bit more HP but he definitely had fun.
Seeing how peaceful the guy look, enjoying next to misha lapping the nordschleife… I think this is how I want my final moments to be like when I die of old age 😂
Jejejeje The shirt is a present of a good friend. I always put this shirt one day when i go to nurburgring Ahhh,i have never had a Honda jajaja @mutacionn
Hey Misha, is it maybe possible to let a friend or someone take some flyby video’s and montage them in to the video? Would be a great addition! Love the video’s, keep grinding! 🫶🏼
It seems he likes this mx5 than all the previous s2000.He has much smile on it. Actually it is interesting, because most of guys love the s2000 and did a faster lap time in stock engine than a supercharger nd mx5. ( I am a s2000 owner)
There is no better car than the MX-5 Miata.. Not even from Porsche. It took them 30 years to give the 911 comparable suspension to the Miata and you can still only get it on a GT3
@@Moriggia I love Lotus as a brand but they don't really have anything comparable that's actually better... All of their new stuff is heavy, and complex...Maybe the base/basic Series 2 Elise, but they were no where near as easy to live with and cost of entry was and still is much higher.
The ND is a good car but from factory it needs a lot of mods to get it into spec. Suspension is the first and most important step. The car needs uprated sway bars and stiffer springs all round at a minimum. A dedicated sports kit would be great tho. As for engine, its pretty okay but anything from bbr will get you where you need to be. Supercharger is not recommended but its an option none the less. Best route is turbo with a tune 👍 and you've got yourself a tarmac eater.
TheMX5 a car that punches well above its weight even in standard form. Mazda really built one of the perfect cars for modders. I was looking at buying one last Christmas but found a deal on a new WRX so im modding that.👍
I've had 3 laps with my own car at the Nordschleife and it was so painfully slow because I didn't know what was coming next. My car is slow af but I'd like to have Misha to drive it one day and show me what it's truly capable of (still not much, but a lot more than I can do)
For those wondering about the 'high speeds' vs only 184hp, keep in mind this car rollls on 205/40/17 instead of 205/45/17 stock ;-) Full on board of the owner in a 8'22 lap + mod description, see link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aaAIZJwXkSQ.html Enjoy!!
I crossed the alpes with a Mazda MX-5 Karai twice yeah older version but just an amazing car... the performance / price ratio is insane you can even keep up in the serpantines with the porsche drivers because of the lower weight
Had two miatas in my life. One was my first car ever and baby turbocharged to SUPPOSEDLY 470 whp but it never ran right and eventually got stollen. Then I bought another 94 beater. FUNNEST-CARS-EVER!!!!
