Perfection: A Goldmary Analysis 

Goldmary is so fun in all of her scenes, her blatant up-front honesty to the point of rudeness makes for good dynamics, and as far as Engage character quirks go, it’s pretty grounded in reality.

Honestly, the fact that she gets an 85% Defense growth in the General class, which is the highest Def growth for anyone in the series other than Binding Blade Karel is just _way_ too funny for me NOT to put her in that class

It’s good to meet another fellow goldmary fan. I was so happy when I found out she has a support with lapis because she was my favorite character in engage. My goldmary was so stuffed with stats and weapon buffs that while the rest of my army tried routing all the corrupted in the final battle goldmary was out fighting sombron on her own.

I can relate to the judgement aspect. Im tired of being judged all the time at home. I have a feeling goldmarry would be top 3 engage female characters for me

Side note: the support where Goldmary says she made an "ugly face" was different in the JP ver. It was originally a comment about her gaining (an insignificant amount of) weight.

It's my first time seeing this channel, and a first thing I see is this guy cosplaying as Goldmary. Absolute chad. subscribed.

This game really is Fates 2, in terms of what the discourse is between people who actually choose to (for lack of a better word) engage with the material, and those who just brush it off after a shallow immersion. A lot of people thought at thr time that Fates characters are one-note, bland caricatures. Now, people are far enough removed from Fates to be able to say that the characters have depth if you choose to look past the surface. Engage is the exact same way. There's a reason Yunaka is "the favorite" and that's because her layer is pre-peeled in the most obvious way. But a lot of characters are much more deeper down. One of my favorite support chains in the entire series is Celine and Alfred, because it comes off as nothing to begin, but it turns into Celine not wanting her brother to overwork himself to death, to slow down and be a prince not to lord over others, but to keep his own body from giving out from underneath him. The amount of people who have favorite characters from Fates that say they hate Engage characters is uh. That's palpable shit, ngl.

Love love LOVE Goldmary!! One of my faves from engage for sure. I like to use her as a bow knight, she can become quite a speed demon.

Goldmary was one of my favorites from Engage as I found her hilarious. I always like specialists in Tactics games so classing to GK and going all in on defense instead of salvaging speed made her really easy to use and fully counter a lot of fast medium damage units.

Great video! I'd love to see more character analysis videos like this. My favorite Engage character is Lindon because of his complex maturity but vulnerability regarding his mortality. His sense of honor and patriotism also makes him very likeable.

As far as I can remember I used her with Eirika Emblem on Lunar Brace mode and that fixed her dmg output while being good at tanking and even dodgetanking.

Can you hurry up and die?" in her B support with her in the Korean version, which I believe it is changed into "If' that's what you think, I'm going to have to ask you to get out of my face." the ENG version. Gameplay wise, I personally really enjoy using her as Bonded Shield support. I like it because not only her Def is great, but also her Spd and Res is respectable enough to the point where you can make sure that the enemies can target the ones receiving the shield, rather than Goldmary herself. As long as she doesn't get doubled while having more def and res than her teammates, which I find it doable, Goldmary will be able to protect her allies with the Bonded Shield. In fact, she's not just good, but also quite flexible in terms of class choice when it comes to this role. For example on a Cavalry heavy team, if there are other units who are quite bulky, Goldmary can go Great Knight or Paladin to have even more bulk, whereas if her allies consists of Mage Knights and Wolf Knights who are often frail, Goldmary can go Royal Knight and get more Res and Staff access while still having better bulk than her teammates. This also applies to flying team as well. So yeah, there's a lot to love on this build, at least in my opinion. That being said, I also do love other builds you mentioned in the video. She may not be the team's ultimate superstar, but she is definitely a character who can do her job quite well.

This video is the exact reason why i S supported Goldmary in engage she is so lovely to see as an character. While i do hate her perfectionist trait she did however explained to you why she was being an perfectionist in the first place and that makes me appricate her better than other perfectionists characters. As an Unit she might not be the best if compared to other units but she surely can take hits even avoiding when fast enough. I will even go so far as perfect attack options as an hero since she has access to A rank Swords and B rank Lances without reclassering even though her magic is bad but to be fair she was better as an physical attacker anyway. So overall i love this character a lot both with her character and performance as an unit.

Disclaimer: I havent actually used goldmary yet (she joins really late at the same time as rosado) And more importantly, aside from the whole translation/localization issue with her supports I havent actually watched most of her supports, so I actually dont know that much about her, so my opinion might change a bit. I think for myself I consider goldmary, well its kind of weird because I dont actually know. She's interesting thats for sure, but its hard to say. The main thing I would like to add is that, maybe it depends on opinion, but I find her quite interesting with the japanese voice. Though its possible some people might find her to be worse because of that. (Its really interesting though, how the japanese voices are like still the same but different) The support with framme is(?) well its complicated, but I think at the heart of the whole thing maybe its fine? Its hard to say if its the exception or an outlier compared to the others. The rosado support and the hortensia support I've vaguely seen both, but hmm. Though its more like, you would expect since they are together So basically it boils down to either people think or interpret which side is the "real" goldmary. Though you could argue both are. I think a lot of people just fixated on the way she phrases "im sorry that xyz" Another sort of like missed opportunity is the field map conversations. Or you know like fe9/10 style base conversations. Gameplay wise, I havent quite figured out what im going to do with goldmary yet if/when I get to her. The irony is one good thing about her joining so late is she's pretty much ready to just pick up and go, while the others have to scuff their way through their join times.

Goldmary was never one of my favorites in the cast, but with this I do appreciate her a lot more.

Goldmary's up there as one of my favs from Engage alongside Yunaka. The down-to-earth scenes with Goldmary make her feel very realistic and relatable, but honestly she'd probably still be near the top for me even without that; her shtick is just that funny to me. I just about died when she got a level up and went "I'm sorry if the speed of my growth intimidates you."

She is the one I gave the pact ring to, I absolutely love her . A seductive woman who is confident in herself and her strengths/qualities ? Hell yeah ! Not to mention that I love her base class hero with dual chain attacks.

Her design is S tier. I got her to A support with Alear, and she was such a narcissist I couldn't give her any more attention.

Finally someone actually reading Engage supports, I feel the community thorw the baby with the bath water and didnt really payed enough atention to their characters outside of them as a unit, UI have to admit Goldmary is one of those characters I didnt really dwel super deep in to(Im a big Rosado and the Morion brothers fan tho, now that I think about it, nobody in this damn game has last names)

Goldmary’s tactical use in my playthroughs is hindered by the fact that she gets lost in the shuffle after a bit so that she’s usually one of the last cuts from the starting team. But her character is honestly super intriguing. I need to basically make myself use her for that alone

I don't know if this was stated earlier or not seeing as this video is 4 months old, but the whole "face looking funny when eating bit" in the English is the incorrect saying. In the original Japanese script she comments about her body fat and worries someone saw that as she wants to see with a "perfect" figure. I dislike how localizations do this in games with character that want to look beautiful so they do these to make it funny. Like what they did in the Fire Emblem Fates Support involving Saizo and Beruka. They had a whole conversation in C-Rank about their assassians they've done and how it haunts them, while in the English version every text box is "..." because they wanted to make it funny because they're two stoic characters or because they didn't translate it. I hate when they do that, which misses the point of the characters and undermines how complex and interesting they are. Despite that, I do like Goldmary and find her very charming and enjoyable character. And this video made me love her more.

On my first run of Engage, I made use of General Goldmary instead of Great Knight, and gave her the Sigurd Ring. While yes it isn't the farthest move, having a high Movement omega wall was incredibly fun to use. And with her Lance proficiency, she got to use Brionac when it dropped which was super fun to deck out. That alongside a Brave Lance or a Silver Greatlance to use with Override. I think that's an incredibly fun use of Goldmary, which made her one of my favourite units

Honestly I think this video explains almost every character in Engage. They look very simple and one note on the surface, but all of them have some level of nuance that makes them quite an interesting cast.

As an absolute weeb, I’m also quite fond of Goldmary 😅

On my current maddening run I turned Goldmary into a general and spent my entire life savings on venomous. Literally any other unit that can get s lances can do this, and a few are much better at it than her, but she deserves being catered to in this way and killing 6-7 units with a single overrride is very funny.

Hmmm your analysis is from the localized version which was an almost completely different character. It takes part of her real personality.

I think goldmary might actually be the fe character I hate most in the entire series. The best way I have to explain it is, I once had Alois die on the last turn of Silver Snow maddening to a 5% crit and I had no more divine pulses and I reset for him despite the fact that he had been benched and I only deployed him cause I forgot the max amount of units allowed. I would never reset for goldmary. I don’t play Ironmans, I’m not a nuslocke kinda guy. If I did play them, I would kill goldmary on purpose.
