I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

The choreographer is Keone Madrid. And those are his dancer friends, who happen to be some of the best choreographers in the world, like Brian Puspos, Vinh Nguyen, and Ian Eastwood.

I read that this whole MV is directed with the 90s movie Romeo and Juliet as inspiration. Hence the wings, the girl, the stage, the fight scene.. definitely fits the lyrics of this song. Overall imagery translated here. Keone choreographed this one and we can only expect the best results! Ultimately this is the song that best used his vocal ability.. his tone and range is being showcased well in here. Love it love it! I feel like the way Jk and the girl moved from location to another was also heavily similar to Michael Jackson's MV for The Way You Make Me Feel, where MJ pursues the girl until she finally comes to him :) and I looove this sort of layering inspirations over inspirations!

yeah the director of the MV also posted a IG story of romeo and juliet saying "best movie ever" or sth similar. she definitely used a lot of references from that movie for the concept MV and like you said, it fits the lyrics of the song as well. i'd say it's like a mix of MJ and romeo and juliet but the MJ part has more to do with the performance aspect.

@@mimipeltomaki-virta8704 yes through the first part it's like the way you make me feel.. and by the end with the fight scene and dance break it's like MJs You Rock My World.. even the beat and groove is reminiscent of it, you can even sing it on top of this beat. Overall it's such a new sound with a very familiar vibe. Im so proud of our JK! And he's just getting started!

Totally agree that this song really showcases so many of his vocal talents!!! I love how different his singles have sounded. We often also overlook that he is not fluent in English, which makes his pronunciations and ability to make monster English pop songs, similar to the likes of MJ and Bruno Mars, that much more impressive!

as much as i love this i think seven has a bit more general public appeal than this one, not to mention seven was like his debut as a soloist so everyone was tuning in. at the end of the day more or less views than seven doesn't really matter, both the album and this song are doing very well in terms of charts and numbers and people love it so that's all that matters.

@@selenamonitore372 yeah i agree but i wouldn't say it's underrated, every reaction i've seen to this song has been extremely positive. seven is easier on the ear and a bit more catchy but in terms of nearly everything else standing next to you is honestly pure art and i'm glad it's the title track. seven was a massive global hit even among the general public so even if snty doesn't reach the same goals it doesn't mean it wasn't a hit as well ;) i'm honestly just proud of JK, he's a pop star.

The whole Romeo and Juliet concept makes sense! But before I saw that comment, I thought the wings were referencing BTS' Black Swan since the DNA was a more obvious reference (with the chorey, too). So proud of JK! HE IS KING OF POP OF TODAY, & MJ would agree 🎉

This song and MV is a real masterpiece! His voice, the dance moves, his facial expressions everything on point! Don’t forget he started singing at young age and was sent to LA to improve his dance abilities and then look at him now! The references in the video are first of all MJ but also references to BTS ( seven dancers, Fire, DNA, Black Swan, N.O.), it’s the best video I have seen for a long time! First time seeing it made me left speechless…

The way JK pursues the girl is very reminiscent/similar to Michael Jackson pursuing the girl in his MV for The Way You Make Me Feel, and since the whole thing is so MJ inspired, I dare say it was not a coincidence :)

Thank you for your reaction. He is insane for this. I honestly have no words for him anymore. He is such a Superstar. They just released a live performance on Iheart radio. He mostly just sings but he incorporated some choreography as well. His live vocals made the song sound even better. He is such an exceptional performer.

9:19 jungkooks range is actually insane… he’s got a GORGEOUS lower tone… there’s even some lower note adlibs of him in the second verse that are so satisfying. You should watch his vlive from 6/12/22 and listen to his lower register and his belting.. there’s SO much and jungkooks strong all up and down his register. BTS songs are generally just higher bc of Jin and jimin… they’re strongest in higher ranges and jk and tae always have to sing a bit higher… but bc tae is the baritone… he gets all the mid to low tone parts… unfortunately for jungkook lol he’s been working a lot on his lower register and it’s sexy af

He went live on iHearRadio and he's also doing Jimmy Fallon on Monday and the Choreography MV (so not the dance practice room, just the version from MV scenes) is coming out on Wednesday. Not sure when the dance practice will be up since it wasn't included on the official schedule posted by bighit, but it'll show up at some point. I definitely recommend listening to the full album too btw

There is probably a real story behind the wings, but I do know I heard from somewhere that HYBE could of also taken the inspiration from fan art as well. I know of at least a few pieces of fan art that have Jung Kook with a pair of wings.

This song/mv blew my little mind when I saw it the first time. It's perfection. Perfect vocals, perfect choreography, it's funky, it's an homage to MJ, and no one has the right to be that sexy. Our golden maknae has grown into a superstar. I remember in one of the BTS films JK talking about his fears and anxiety that he wouldn't be able to make something of himself outside of BTS. Just proved that wrong. Couldn't be prouder of him.

This... okay, I'm going to preface this by saying that I only really got into K-pop fairly recently. After some intense squabbling with a territorial woodlouse, I packed up my things and moved out from under my rock. So I wasn't too familiar with Jungkook, his solo or group work with BTS. THIS, though. This made me a fan. Probably a good thing, since that dang woodlouse made me homeless, and I'm pretty sure the Army still provides room and board when you enlist, yeah? (Side note, for Jeff, I'm curious if you've ever checked into Gon, from Vanner? He snagged my attention after their run on Peak Time, and he struck me as a fantastic dancer. Would love to hear YOUR opinion sometime!)

Most of the dancers are actually super talented choreographers! Nick Joseph has done lots of work with BTS in the past. He also worked on choreography for Drunk Dazed and Tamed Dashed for Enhypen!
