I am a huge fan of this fragrance, it causes nose-blindness immediately if you smell it up close, but in reality, it projects for the whole day and fills up the entire building you are in
The EDP is lethal. A customer in my work had it on and I asked him what he was wearing, he said MFK BCR540, I don't think he expected me to know it but he said he put it on at like 19:00 and it was roughly 02:00 by this point and was massively projecting. Oddly enough I went home and spewed that night, unsure if I got too much of that or something food-wise didn't agree with me but yeah it's amazing stuff, smells good, LETHAL!
I’m glad you said this. Today I sprayed something I didn’t like and gave me a headache and immediately cleaned it off and sprayed BR540 but couldn’t smell it at all. Sprayed and sprayed but still nothing. Noseblind. Panic attack ensued lol until a few hours later it started to hit me and breathed a sigh of relief. Thought it was just me that had that issue
I just purchased a minuscule discovery set from Nordstrom from this brand.. I’m excited .. I’ve been on a fragrance binge . Done for the year of 2022. But I’ll smell fabulous 💕

I’m new to your channel and I love your videos! I’m magnetized by your descriptions🤩 The Extrait de Parfums version doesn’t work for me either. As you said it disappears right after applying😩 I so much love it and I’ve tried to layer it with the edp and it works but such a guilty pleasure considering the price! As you say it's a polar opposite on me too... This fizzes off my skin, it projects and projects. Also agree with the jammy sweetness that transforms the original to a smoother sexier scent. Great, honest review again. 👌👍,
this is one of the first niche fragrances i bought the EDP version. Its always my go to and i have over 200 fragrances and this is my Fondest memory the first time smelling this i was like wow, this is just so weird and contrarian to what i normally like. I usually wear dark ambery style fragrances i have everything from le labos to indie houses. But BR540 is always my baby. Brings me back to the first time i smelt mastery. L'air Du desert morrocain is another that makes me feel this way.

I’m so happy you are honest. That it’s overpriced that on some it’s going to be great on others not so much. Versus all the other reviews that are saying compliment getter, beast mode.. get it! The truth is it’s a stunning iconic fragrance for SOME and there are others that it will not work for. I know that goes with any fragrance but this one seems to be one that people refuse to mention anything negative about it. I have it and love it but it was WORK.. like 6 months of trying to figure out how to wear it so I don’t have anosmia while wearing. One spray on the back and one behind the knees did it.

Its mad that some people can't smell it at all, its an absolute beast on me. I can smell it for the whole day and night, my sofa clothes and bed end up smelling like it
My wife's signature fragrance! I picked up a bottle and it just didn't work on my skin. I asked my wife to give it a wear and is now on her 3rd bottle! The projection and longevity on my wife is absolutely enormous. She's gotten more complements wearing this than another other fragrance she wears. My biggest complaint is the price.....it's absurd. Other than that, I find my wife irresistible when she wears it and she loves the fragrance as well! Win/Win!!! Cheers!

My first time watching Mr. Hughes review a scent, and I must say it was a vaguely hypnotic experience - like he was simultaneously speaking to the audience on a higher level. Honestly, what I imagine it would have been like to listen to Mozart review another composer’s piece. But it could have also been the soothing tone and fluid hand gestures that charmed me. :)🦄🐍 Amazing insight and detail. Thank you.
I have both the BR 540 edp and the extrait. I find the edp much sweeter and I'm probably the minority here as a man, I prefer the edp. I go nose blind right away but they both last all day. The edp gets me a ton of compliments and the extrait I have yet to get a compliment after 30 plus wears. I've gone through a full bottle and then some of the edp and I have gone through about a quarter bottle of the extrait.
Great review, Aaron! I think it’s very unfortunate that so many people go nose blind to BR. I’m so glad that I get to enjoy the beauty and strength of this fragrance. I have absolutely no problem at all smelling the edp and extrait for over 12 hours. The extrait is sooooo monstrous on me that it’s INSANE! One day, I inadvertently sprayed my work vest with BR540extrait. The next day, I wore a different fragrance as my SOTD, but I could still smell BRx as much as I could my SOTD…if not more….for the entire work shift. 32+ hours of longevity is no exaggeration. This stuff is simply NUCLEAR on me!!! Holla.
Mate, I sprayed a few on my work jacket. It already been through a wash and I can still smell it after the wash and it's been about a week or two but still get it.
Damn i was surfing to your waves while you so perfectly explained all the elements what goes to your brain while smelling a pleasant smell, I think I don't need to even test it at a store I am convinced I would love it!
Another great review Aaron , sound an interesting perfume but another case of buying an expensive baccarat crystal bottle . Would be nice if it was refillable 😆
Excellent review as per usual! I really appreciate the way you endow your content with your expert knowledge, it adds an extra level of appreciation for perfumery to me! (This is one of my favourite scents).
This one actually has a really nice opening but I’ve never had the chance to actually sample it because whenever I go to Neiman Marcus, they never have samples of this one, only the edp. The sales associate says that this one, the extrait, has a 40% concentration. Not entirely sure if that’s true or not.
I just tested this one and Grand Soir on me, both are very lovely though not for me. On my skin both seemed to be very soft and powdery, pretty smelling but not something I loved. I instead went with Portrait of A Lady and love it! Oh my God, I love the smell of it so much 😍 and it's so strong, so projecting, one or two sprays seems to be enough to last all day long. Really- ALL day long. But I did spray 4 times and that was way way too much🤣🤣🤣
I am so grateful to hear that it sort of fades on your skin because the exact thing happens to me! It was so confusing to me, I thought maybe I was noseblind to it, but no, it consistently fades to almost nothing on me. It is just nice to know I am not the only one, because I have otherwise exclusively heard that it is "beastmode" and projects like hell. Really appreciate your reviews Aaron!
Bought this two weeks ago - wore it out for the first time at dinner last weekend. Machine washed the polo shirt I was wearing the next day & I can still smell the scent on it 😂 This morning I it sprayed three sprays on my neck at 08.45, left the house, came back at 14.00. Have been watching the golf most of the day, but have ventured into a few other rooms in the house. Wife got back after 18.00, said she can smell it all over the house. It does carry alot, even if it doesn’t smell too strong to yourself. I have say though I absolutely love this fragrance, expensive yes, but my god it smells incredible.
Hi Aaron, I've learnt a whole lot from your videos. You're a great teacher! Still thirsting for more knowledge on perfumery though. I would like to know what must ALL perfume compositions consist of. I've heard you mentioned several times that a perfume should have three different musks. Do all perfumes have to have woods and citruses as well? Please give me a list of the must haves of a perfume, thanks! P.S: I can't wait for your vanilla perfume to hit the market!
I bought this as a 25 yo man. I sprayed twice on the neck and go to a store. There was a woman Glaring her eye at me, completely feel empty just like seeing a ghost. idk if it’s that good or it is too strong for anybody. For me, This is truly a masterpiece by MFK, lot of clones but not as good as the original. Nice review btw Aaron :)

I’m very new to fragrances and building up a nice collection. I got a sample of the OG BR 540, and I have to say.. I really didn’t like it. I watched so many videos of it, and I was expecting it to blow my mind, but it didn’t. It almost has a soapy vibe to it. I think I need to try it again! Great video Aaron 😁
This parfum is bliss. The bouquet is effervescent...keeps you intoxicated, reveling in the oils. Its brilliant. Longevity...... Grounds me in my Divine Feminine. New West was my all time favorite. This is a tie for #1. It's like catnip for me.
There’s a hard line between a prisoner of the moment, and just facing reality for what it’s become. I been in the cologne/parfum world for at least a decade now, haven’t smelled everything, but been through enough to where I know what’s best for me. I’ve had/still have my fair share of signatures, but I have never, ever, been craving more of a scent until I encountered this 540. I really could wear just this one for the rest of my life 😍. I’m strongly considering that 6 oz bottle lol. Not many scents justify these price tags, but this right here, this stuff is just it. Well done Sir Francis.
@@christopherbird2739ya, I never fell with a fragrance that much in love, and I adore all of my many fragrances, but Baccarat just has this unique magic, so intoxicating and addictive, seductive and extraordinary, never experienced a fragrance I wouldn't be heartbroken, if I had to wear only this 2......;)
Also is it possible that you can also let me know what is the best dupe for the original Baccarat Rouge 540, since watching your videos I see that you are very honest in your description and feeling of what you are describing and I really appreciate you.😊

What a wonderful surprise to find not only the ordered fragrances but also a Christmas Unicorn card from you and your dogs (So so so so so soooooo cute!) plus samples of other fragrances. I tried some of them. "Raw cherry" to me is a unisex cherry fragrance done right. This is what I expected TF's "Lost cherry" to smell like (more or less). Really nice and such a wonderful alternative for men because I think there are a lot of cherry fragrances for women and almost none (good) for men. This is perfect. And I'm not a big fan of cherry fragrances. I ordered the "Patchouli noir" sample earlier and it was too strong for me at first and now (second try) I like it very much. patchouli noir drys so soft and sensual. never judge my work on the initial blast. wait 5 mins to dry and then 30 minutes for the fragrance to unfold. my work is so personal to me that if i can. i like to say hello via a card to my customers. 🦄🦄🦄🦄
I just tried Baccarat Rouge 540 for the first time, after being into this hobby for the last few months. I didn't want to like it this much! I got this wardrobe set from Nordstrom, of eight ten ml bottles, including BR540 Extrait. I had only tried Grand Soir from MFK before just a few minutes ago, and I already love this br540! I already had Mancera Instant Crush, but this smells so much better, just from the opening and heart and dry down so far. It seems much sweeter.
I’ve only tested it,never got to buy a bottle of it because I believe it’s way overpriced,good quality,solid performance but still very very expensive,I buy escentric 04,on my skin I get a similar vibe,it’s not a clone or something but I get that vibe. Got a sample yesterday, couldn’t smell a thing from it! Had shower, splashed on some TF Vanillle… smelling good. This morning the wrist I sprayed this on I can now actually smell something (even though I showered) and none of the TF I put on after. How strange 😆😆
I would really love to see you review Haramain Amber Oud Ruby. Its about 60€ for 60ml and i think its a great alternative that you can wear daily without robbing a bank.
I love your transparency with your ingredients in your fragrances. Would you ever consider disclosing how much of the formula is natural va aroma chemicals? Similarly to the way you disclose the concentration.
For many people they think the fragrance disappears after a few hours what I’ve gotten is that most people just go no blind until someone gives them a compliment
Great technical review! The nose-blindness is just crazy with this one. I wiped one spray off my neck with an exfoliating cloth a couple hours after spraying. I smelled nothing at the time. The next morning, BR540 was just wafting off that cloth and filling my entire bathroom! I had went totally anosmic wearing it. Just a trace of what I couldn't smell on my neck projected off fabric hours later. I think a lot of skin differences are actually anosmia. How do you deal with nose-blindness as a perfumer? Especially hedione is notorious for disappearing on the wearer. It's probably tough balancing out something that you can't accurately smell as a whole!
I don’t hate it. But it’s very ‘in your face’. I feel like it’s a modern equivalent of Joop for men vibe wise. Eg: It’s instantly recognisable, loud, sweet and not for everyone.
I adore all of my many fragrances in my collection, but I never experienced something that magical, with any other fragrance I ever smelled, not at that lvl, so hard to explain and than it's such an amazing fragrance for layering, especially the EdP for me.......
Grand Soir and OSM work fabulously on my skin. I think I’m lucky with MFK and my skin chemistry. I wanted to like 540 as it’s an icon, but it’s too much for me. It’s nice and I like to smell it on others but not me.
I have a love hate relationship with this one. I can’t smell the original version after an hour. The Extrait version last longer on me and I prefer the Extrait version better. I will always have it in my collection. This version gives me about 7 hours and I get tons of compliments on it.
I have the extrait, and many are saying it smells expensive and also like a dentist office. I guess it makes sense as the dentist is expensive. Anyway it may be an acquired taste, for me it's still an interesting smell and unfortunately my senses can't detect so many beautiful ingredients.
