This is perfect for high heat. The lemon / sharpness becomes sweeter and it projects like a monster. Im in Bangkok, its hot every day here, and DHS works brilliantly
This 2021 one is my new office/work signature. Lasts 8 hours easily through the work day and get lots of complements. The dry down is where it shines. The opening is very bright and lemony and sharp for the first 20 mins but its not that bad. Its great stuff!
Did you have the problem at the beginning that you couldn't smell the fragrance very quickly? It was like that for the first 2 weeks and then I could smell it almost the whole day.
@@stefanassmann7082 i felt the same. Couldn't make much of this perfume together with dior homme 2020 when testing them. Turns out the iso-e super takes a while for your brain to recognize it. If you've smelt it before, you'll pick it up quickly like aaron, if you haven't, it takes probably a week or 2.
This is one of the classiest freshies, it can be worn up or down at anytime, dare I say the upper class mature version of sauvage, got some crazy reactions from the ladies. It has a unique character yet easy to wear dumb reach. If you like Dior homme cologne this is the older brother.
To my nose it wasn't all that, so I decided to use it up. I was very surprised when a couple of people complimented me and how it projected. Beware folks it doesn't smell strong but it is.
I bought this version this year on my summer vacation in the Netherlands and I love it and reminds me every time of the great time. It's like a "cheaper" variant of Creed Viking Cologne for me. Excellent review as usual, Aaron! 👍🏻Stay exactly as you are & keep up the great content.
You do realise that Creed is just £40 fragrances with a huge price tag? Why else would Silver Mountain Water be rejected for L'eau D'Issey? It was meant to be a £40 fragrance and is now about £260 with the Creed branding. Marketing will always work on some.
Bought this one in April and was surprised with performance. I could still smell it on me even after 7 hours of wearing it. It is only fragrance in my collection that got me compliments from women and men.
I recall your review of Dior Homme Intense as it helped convince me to pick it up. Out of the 27 fragrances I have, I consider it to be the most refined and well constructed in my collection 👍
Dear Aaron, i agree, the opening is too sharp and lemony, but on my skin these notes are gone after 3 minutes. On my skin it sits perfectly, i can smell touches of clean incense and citrusy elemi. A lot of people, instead, have the same problem of yours: too much persistent sharp notes. But i'm happy because rarely i found the right fragrance for my skin. Your "Oud" works perfectly on me too! Take care and keep going, i love your reviews!
I remember having the same impression like Aaaron of my first spray in Sephora. After tried it the second time, for the whole day, I noticed the abrasive part is slowly got rounded up after 1 hour mark, giving it a smooth lemony smell. Definitely refreshing, photorealistic lemon. Can't wait to buy the full bottle
I'm not a huge citrus fan. However, I really like this as a spring/summer day fragrance. Aaron's Carbon lotion helps with the longevity, but I find also softens the initial abrasive lemon note, which can be a bit piercing. A really good combo imo.
One of my most favorite fresh scents! This is the non-identical twin of Chanel edition blanche. The older (2012 and 2017) formulations are much better than the current one. Love your content and I can’t wait to binge buy your perfumes 😍
I have a small fragrance collection that are all niche. I travel through airports quite alot so im always testing fragrances. Every time i found myself wanting the try dior homme sport , really classy and easy to wear. I have just ordered a full bottle, a very versatile and mass appealing fragrance .
This is oddly relatable; I went through the airport yesterday and purposely didn’t wear a fragrance beforehand so that I could try something on at duty free lol. I ended trying Dior Homme Sport and I’m considering picking up a bottle.
Happy to see you review one of my two favorite Dior fragrances (the other is Sauvage Elixir). I wear DHS casually and it always gives me this confident refreshing masculine feeling.
Mr. Hughes, if you think this 2021 DHS is disappointing, just wait till you get your hands on a 2012 with awesome iris...pure blessing. I keep one for special summer events.
I totally agree with Aaron here, that lemon note is too sharp and prominent here. After an hour or two the fragrance becomes a bit softer, but still remain this "nose drilling" lemon accord. Or, maybe it is combination of lemon and vetiver gives that sharpness. I don't know. Sometimes, it seems to me that the less notes we have, the better smelling fragrance we get)
You hit the nail bang on the head here Aaron......abrasive and aggressive is exactly what I get from it too..... I've marked it down to only wearing it to go for a run.
I have all Dior Homme releases. If you have this one, you don't necessarily need DH2020, since the similarities are numerous. Likewise, if you already have DH2020, you don't need this one.
Received my first ever order yesterday. Very impressed how quickly this was processed. Shout out to Alex also who responded to my email in a very timely manner. Tried the Boss Bastard today - what an assault on the senses. The first 10 seconds of smell I hated, then I loved the middle section of fruity notes, and the dry down was like Indian incense candles. Interesting combination. (Apologies for the lack of correct perfume wording / knowledge on the ingredients.) Looking forward to trying of the other samplers over the coming days. Keep up the good work.
Tried this when it was released, agree that it's very abrasive. Headache inducing and couldn't wash it off. After the opening it reminded me so much of my father's bottle of the purple juice: Alfred Sung Homme from the 90's.
Really like how you break things down. You can see it in your expression that you really are visualizing it all yourself. I get many complements with this and I like the zip it’s has. I think ur spot on maybe some watermelon to help round out the sharp edges but all in ll it’s really nice and a different take on the usual freshie dna
I bought it because of Robert Pattinson the best Batman... Keatons been my favorite all my life, he's still number one in many ways, but Pattinson is hands down the best across the board. He is the advertisement model for this cologne rn.
Yes, that's true about Lemon, it can smell like dishwashing products and stuff if it's too loud, just like Pine, which smells like a cheap freshener. Certain notes should never be dominant in a blend, because they will ruin it.
Very sensitive Aaron.. What you find abrasive, I find love and joy and vibrant and fresh and it doesn't make me cough at all :)) Watermelon would've made it too sweet from what I can imagine and remove the gentle, masculine sophistication. I'm just a happy, serious but playful bumblebee when I use this one. Your review made me hesitate some two months ago, but when I tried it again in the shop two days ago, I told myself "I just love this, no one will be between us, why couldn't I see it first":)) One of these days I may try one of your additions to life:)
I have the 2019 version and I think it’s the best outta of the 21 newer version the lemon in the 2019 version is just soo smooth vs 21 which is quick and doesn’t last long at all
I just got this 2021 version yesterday and YES, calone would've been GREAT in this. I do like it but really does feel like it's missing a little something.
Haven’t tested it yet but I have the “Very Cool” spray packaging version on the way in the mail. Sort of glad I got that over the glass bottle, seems the note breakdown fixes what you seem to have a problem with.
Love you Aaron!Thank you for the amazing review and i share the same thoughts as you over this fragrance. I would love you to review Habit Rouge l'instict.I love it as it takes a classic fragrance and makes it super modern by adding new aspects and still keeping the key ingredients as citruses notes, green notes, rose accord soft vanilla and leather. Wish you all the best !
Would love a review of vanilla Havane by Matiere Premiere or Desire Toxic M. Micalef. Thanks for the uploads would also love a background on your tattoos might be an interesting video. Thanks again ATH
Aaron, you mentioned that you would like us to buy raw materials to begin to understand more in depth the smells of different materials. Can you please point me / us to a good starting place to buy one? I would hate to invest in a pack that turned out to be scammy. I just don’t know where to start that is both real and safe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Btw.. I love your channel and watch often bc I learn so much from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I too thought the citruses in this one were too sharp, this one is very bitter smelling to me. But I still gotta try it on skin tho, maybe i’ll change my mind who knows.
Hi Aaron, would definitely love if you do a review to a hidden gem of a fragrance that was released back in 1999. Bvlgari Extreme. I would love to see what you think about it. Its discontinued but still available on the market.
I didn't like this one very much the first time i sprayed it on, it was very very spicy/peppery on my skin right off the bat but then it smoothed out and it became very nice. I think it the kind of scent that sort of "develops" the more you wear and yet it's not on my top choices.
Just sampled this stuff on skin a few days ago. Got pretty much exactly what Aaron did out of it, but additionally, to my nose, I'm getting a faint oily or gasoline-y smell, a bit similar to Fahrenheit. Don't know why, maybe the interaction of some of the aromachems. Maybe it's just me.
Try layering this with Iso-E-Super and you get a similar ‚cinnamony‘ (for lack of better words) vibe like the Fahrenheit Cologne flanker, albeit less juicy mandarine, you aren‘t far off with your observation.
Dior Eau Sauvage is the only lemon done right. But this one is really kinda abrasive and loud, can't stand it for too long, despite its very huge compliment factor
This fragrance is EXTREMELY dry wood to me. Like sauna in the attic. The lemon i feel takes a back seat to the wood. I like wearing this, but in very limited doses with the sprayer like a foot out.
Must be your skin on my skin I get at minimum 8 hours with I nice scent bubble for hours and then when I think its faded away I get wafts of it…easily one of my best performing fresh scents
Hello guys, has anyone ordered Aarons fragrances from inside the EU. If yes, how did it go, how much did you need to pay on extra costs, is there anything special to consider?
After about 7 months I think it’s nice but the frankincense note is too strong reminds me of a church. Fresh scent for 30 and ups more formal adg Profumo. I’m trying to a a fresh scent which is attractive that’s not sauvage bdc or ysl y
Calone is kinda gross to me, not necessarily because of the smell itself, but at some point I can actually taste Calone heavy frags, like eating synthetic watermelon or something. But I accept it in those aquatics if they have a strong floral fruity Citrus and Hedione top. If Calone stands out too much, I don't like it.
Aaron thank you for the amazing and very insightful content. Now that that’s out of the way I would like you to do a review on Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir. I wonder what are your thoughts on the fragrance that I rather enjoy. I suspect that you will enjoy it as well since it’s right down your alley in terms of an oriental fragrances. I really hope you will give my proposal some consideration. Thank you in advance.
As an avid enthusiast of perfumery, your fan and also Mexican myself, im sorry you were treated like this in my country. Please dont be too hard on the rest of us. We are not all assholes. I hope you dont ever get this kind of treatmemt again. If it were in Mexico or a city around it its really weird. Because usually the people at perfume isles are super attentive.
It smelt quite lipstick to me. I enjoyed it with smell and longevity of it. I do think of a warmer weather maybe garden party or playing tennis in my whites haha
I think i’ve got some of my perfumes collection. Guess what, first of all when a little kids who was around 4-7 years old with his father in the center, that kid’s just following behind me like 3-5 minutes when his father watching him he did follow up to his son too😂, also we 3 suddenly walking in the line 😂 when i hear the kids steps speeding up a lil bit, cause my steps speed until he fell on the floor right behind me, i carry him up he was like getting chocked cause the perfumes i wearing that day 😂 so yea perfumes does makes some really surprised for somebody’s even myself sometimes 🤣
