Perfect review. I purchased mine in 2016 and you can't get the scent to go even by having a wash and the projection is monstrous. Definitely with the batch I've got I have to go easy on the sprays as it can be very overpowering to myself as the wearer. 4 sprays max I find lasts forever!
Top 3 of all time. To me this rose is unlike any other rose I’ve come across.. and I think that needs to be addressed because it is a unique selling point. Definitely get a red wine and chocolate vibe.. the fragrance had layer upon layer of mystique.. really beautiful dark and seductive. I place this as #1 for Tom Ford, followed by tobacco vanille and noir extreme
It's one of my favourites. It's strength comes when mixing with my skin chemistry and when it blends with a bit of sweat, it's just divine and so seductive.
Your channel deserves so much more love , i watch a lot of different people for points of view and i have to say this is the top channel in terms of knowledge in my opinion i love to watch you review fragances , keep it up .
Love this one. I always get a milk chocolate mixed with rose smell from it. It’s been reformulated a few times since it’s original release & isn’t as punchy or long lasting as it used to be. I still have a 250ml decanter of the original formulation which i use sparingly (when i first bought it this was £250 for 250ml - talk about inflation!!)
This honestly smells amazing and I knew it would be more your style, but I agree with you on pricing, it really lacks performance and that’s what will probably always keep it from my collection. It’s always reminded me of onyx, but like a weak timid interpretation. And somehow more expensive lol. Loved the review 👍
I had decent performance but nothing compared to how people described it 3 years ago. I get 5-9 hours which is meh to great. My girlfriend gets 8-10, more if it ends up on her clothes. She has small pores so fragrances also have more sillage with her.
Just got a bottle for Christmas. Radiates off of me. Spray it in the morning and can still smell it when I wake up. Always find in mind blowing how fragrances act so differently on people. Masterpiece even if performance lacks for some people.
Yea I thought it’s weak (and compared to black orchid it is) but I then bought aventus, THATS weak and Noir de noir is way stronger, it lasts on me and my skin drinks fragrance. It’s a top 10 for me and the scent is amazing.
My God, you are hypnotic!! The sensuality of the way you describe fragrances is incredible. I think I have to watch it again, I was totally distracted 😂
Love this perfume, very nice chocolatey vanilla like milky smell and lasts on my skin 8-10hrs... got lots of compliments from people though other users have complained its longevity and projection has been an issue but still smells beautiful!.... I ain't complaining cos usually I'm buzzing and feel happy after spraying it!.... Thanks for the Review Aaron!
I tried this fragrance when it first came out ,, nice smell but didn’t project enough for me I like a beast of a fragrance for that sort of money . Nice review as always Aaron .
Thank you Aaron for reviewimg my favorite fragrance ever. -Miami, FL. 🌴 10/10 4 ever! BTW the original release was BEAST MODE! 24+ hours no 1 week on clothes even after wash.
Same problem I have with all Tom Fords - so many people keep saying they are 'powerhouses' but honestly, I don't get more than 1 hour with any of them 🙁. I literally sprayed over 15 sprays of Tobacco Vanille on myself and my clothes to go to Ascot in October and by the time we arrived 2 hours from setting off on our journey it was literally all gone 😒
Exactly, same opinion, i have the noir extreme, i love the scent but I can't believe it last's about an hour or max two, it isn't that cheap, i expect much, much more... At this time, your buying just the brand name- TF for the money, just sad. Not spending anymore money on TF when you have all the other still high quality niche brands, i mean, Tizianna Terenzi or Amouage etc. last for days literally.
Most Tom Ford’s have been reformulated several times - the current Noir De Noir (and Tobacco Vanille) is a shadow of the original formulation when it really was a powerhouse. If you really love a Tom Ford buy as much as you can when it first comes out, because it will be reformulated after a couple of years & will be a fraction of what it was (and for a higher price!)
I’m sure they probably have been reformulated but they are still beastly in longevity, not like Greed, those are a waste of money, just bought another bottle of Ndn today as my old one ran out
What is really interesting are your comments on the price. Many people have commented that your Onyx Extreme (which I absolutely adore have have just purchased a 50ml bottle of) is very similar to this but the Onyx Extreme is even more expensive than this at £210.00 for 50ml. I am guessing that this is down to the very high levels of naturals you are using for the Onyx? Keep up the good work Aaron 😀🦄
Just watched your video, this is a Top 5 TF to me, I recently bought a 50 ml for $187 from Jomashop, but seeing that the performance is weak kinda worries me but i’ll see when i get it, I am noticing what I call the Estée Lauder Effect, even the Fredric Malle and Le Labo fragrances have gotten really watered down for such an expensive price, a sad time it has become for these once powerful and beautiful fragrances
My very first TF, love at first sniff for me. Borderline gourmand, very sexy fragrance. I’ve always thought that the truffle accord is chocolate truffle and not the fungus type, which I think is responsible for giving it a dark chocolatey richness to it.
LOVE this frag!! TF sold to another company, they reformulated it weaker, now a shit skin scent. What a crime… When i sprayed Noir De Noir for the first time, my brain right away thought of Onyx for some reason.
It's beautiful and is powerful and long lasting on my skin. I bought a 100 ml bottle and have no regrets about the price I paid except that maybe I could've paid less per milliliter if I'd bought the 250 ml decanter instead. 🌹😍
How strange that I just subscribed to your channel and then became interested in this particular perfume at the same time. I went back on your channel and saw that you had posted a review an hour ago on the very perfume I just needed a review on. What a convenient coincidence ….
Its incredible... the first bottle I bought was nuclear , superbly rich and would last through the day even at work. The second one a year or so ago was not the same sadly.
Aaron wanted to say i received your Fragrances Maverick & Legend and boy i really love both of them super duper epic Fragrances....Thanks so much Aaron....Tom Ford Noir De Noir was the second Fragrance i ever bought...!00 ml for 200 bucks....I really Really like Noir De Noir!...Its one of my favorite Tom Ford Fragrances....If anybody wants this Fragrance from the 2007 Private line they better get it now because the prices are sky rocketing....And of course i have a old Batch so mine is original!. Yes Aaron my Bottle of Noir De Noir is the older formula and its strong if you ask me....Very good Fragrance!
Thank you. My friend loved maverick and wore it all last weekend when he visited. It was the first time I smelt it on someone else. It smelt amazing on him. Crazy projection and longevity
@@AaronTerenceHughes I totally agree Aaron....I have been talking a lot about it with others! Spread the word about this awesome Fragrance....Maybe it is not for everyone! Meaning everybody has there own taste in Fragrance....For me its Wonderful! And i am sure lots and lots will love this Aaron...
Probably my favourite Tom Ford fragrance. Jeremy Fragrance referred to it as a “chocolate” fragrance in his Tom Ford top 10 list. Did you catch much of the truffle note? Good video as always!
I tried this one recently and quite like it, I will probably buy it at some point. Not quite as good as my favourite 3 which are Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood and Tuscan Leather
@@AaronTerenceHughes I mean the flanker From 2000 created by annick menado. She also did bulgari black which in my opinion is also fantastic. I swear the late 90s to early 2000s had some incredible creations! Kenzo air, ysl live jazz, Davidoff goodlife to name a few. Sadly most are discontinued 🙁What I would give to have a time machine!
- this one is a grower- initially not a fan as I smelled rose, chocolate and strong styrofoam, maybe it was the mothball accord you mentioned, which was a turn off- but really enjoy now
Great review, Aaron! So happy to see you review TF Noir De Noir - knowing you'd love it. It's an undeniable masterpiece. Not for everyone - But it is a clear "Best in Class" winner with few competitors. A great blind buy for the adventurous - But just be aware - It will take you FOREVER to kill a 50ml! For any true collector, this is a legit must-have... Even if it's just a decant. You may feel something's missing - But is that the case at hour 8, for example? 10 years of collecting - And while I did let my OG 250ml go - I kept 50ml - And it still stuns with every spray!
Great review as always. Got this one, loved it when I bought it couple of years ago. Now I don’t like it anymore. For me it has some similarities with Nasomatto - Pardon which I like a lot at the moment
Great review as always. I would agree that the pricing is a bit high with Tom Ford, I would expect massive longevity and projection, if you're paying such a high price. But everyone has his own visions, expectations for the fragrances that they're using/buying. 👍👍👍
My bottle of noir de noir has some insane staying power, but it may well be an older formulation. In terms of that something missing, I find layering with oud generally does the trick 😉
I was determined to buy this, however, it turned into rose on me. Don’t get me wrong, I like rose but this turned to straight floral/rose on my skin. Even the Tom Ford sales consultant was surprised. Overall, it’s a nice fragrance but it doesn’t work on me and I still think it leans too feminine for a man.
I have an older formulation bottle must say it last about 5 hours, but it does fade away quickly to a skin scent. I love it though, I don't want it to project too hard, personally. This one and Noir Extreme (kinda similar vibe) are my favourite TF.
HI Aaron! New subscriber to your channel thanks to the education and higher self (I enjoy the talkitive hands!). I actually purchased this since I own the TF Cafe Rose. Just like you, I received a travel sprayer like the one you have. The carrier left it in the mailbox and it is -12c outside. I got impatient as i sprayed it and it was absolutely nauseating. I cannot even gather my thoughts to figure out what exactly it is that I was smelling but needless to say, it was not rose or patchouli or anything that resembles what you are describing. I will try again once it reaches room temperature and I hope for a better experience but yeah, right now it is searing into my nostril and head and leaving a really really bad impression. With that said, keep up the great work! I enjoy the time spent listening to your descriptions of what you are smelling! Update: Thought I would update after I let the Noir de Noir bottle warm up to room temp. Now I smell everything you are describing and the rose notes are there. I smell the Tea/woody note that you are describing. When it was below freezing, it was not pleasant at all. Lesson learned!
How would you compare it to cafe rose? I have noir de noir, which I like, and am thinking of adding cafe rose as the rose/coffee combination sounds interesting. I have briefly sampled it in passing in a department store but can’t recall it too well. Is the sillage/longevity ok?
How similar is this to Armaf Club D N Intense women? And does this lean towards masculine or feminine..? Does it have a spicy element like ombre nomade...?
My mom broth me some lilly flowers today, as I was smelling thought went through my mind, Id loveee to se Arons fragrance based on top to mid note of oriental lily and based on oud
Aaron, have you ever smelled Boisee by Gentlemen Givenchy? I acquired it recently and I adore the smell but I think it might be a little too strong for me. I get this weird feeling in my head when I apply it on my neck. Idk it's weird but I hope you can review it at some point.
I love this, gets loads of compliments with it since it's really different for the average nose. After 2-3h it sits quite close to the skin but it still lingers in the air around you, longevity being about 8h on my skin (2021 batch). Ideal for date nights and "close encounters", overall a solid fragrance. Can't decide what to buy next though 🤔
I wonder why many Tom Ford fragrances lack performance. Lost Cherry should be nuclear based on the notes and price, but it's just mediocre. Maybe they're using too many naturals? Parfums de Marly fragrances take years to develop, because they want to balance synthetics with naturals for performance.
I think TF is not built for cost. They have a loyal base of followers and they can decrease the perfume concentration and take out the expensive bits but increase the price
Great video Mr. Hughes! I wanted to ask something. Do you feel that vanilla is a "trap" in perfumery? And by that I mean do you feel like it's an easy compound to add into a fragrance to add a delightful sweetness to a fragrance and smoothness to the point where perfumers are afraid to use anything else that would otherwise give the same/similar effect. I myself experiment with making fragrances and I am like you I love orientals and dark fragrances. But I always seem to rely on vanilla to round everything off. Do you think it's a creative trap or is vanilla really just that much of a indispensable compound in perfumery that without it our human sensibilities simply cannot do without? Thank you sir for all your videos!
@@AaronTerenceHughes Thank you! Yes I thought the same things. I guess there are just certain compounds that are just too good to do without. I think Bergamot is in the same league as vanilla in terms of how versatile it can be with top notes. It just seems to work with most formulations much like vanilla. Thank you for the reply!
may i ask a question.. (someone said velvet orchid) but i dont think thats it..seems more for women. anyways.. could you or someone point me to a fragrance that is like TV static coming off of you.. shimery, sparkly, but DEEP, spicy, and LOOUUDDDD.. thick.. like purple Static..where u can feel its thickness.. Like A men + Armani diamonds + spice bomb+ versace eros.. idk...
Aaron, could you tell us something about pyrazines? Legendary perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena said he uses them in all of his fragrances at quite low concentrations, sometimes as low as 0.01% and that they are part of his signature style. But I can't find anything on pyrazines in perfumery on the internet. Thanks
I have all of them at work. I nearly used one in forbidden. But it threw it out. Even at trace amounts. Forbidden nearly was completely different as I was obsessed by one of them. But I do use one in blood orange actually: you really have to know what your doing with such powerful raw materials.
this one is honestly pretty underwhelming, i get no oud only vanilla rose and patchouli, it is pretty nice but also doesnt smell like anything special. it doesnt project at all and the price is ludicrous. makes me wanna find something similar thats deeper with more prominent oud
I am only interested in my work. I am interested in aromachemicls, essential oils and absolutes. Other people work doesn’t interest me. I think that’s common with more perfumers
