The perfumer of Uomo according to Bassnotes is Olivier Polge. Other notable fragrances by him are Dior Homme, Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb and Flowerbomb, Van Cleef and Arpels Midnight in Paris, All the Salvatore Ferrigamo F fragrances, Dolce and Gabanna the One (both EDT and EDP), Paco Rabanne Invictus, and Bleu De Channel Parfum (the EDT and EDP versions were Created by his father Jacques Polge).
@@iconz255 Also a shame he hasn't brought out a new men's release. It's been 10 years since Bleu De Chanel came out so many of us were expecting something new for 2020.
Few fragrance to review next - Prada Black - YSL Y EDP - Prada L'Homme EDT - Dior Homme Colone - Chanel Chance eau Tendre - Pure XS - Acqua Di gio Profundo - Lacost L'homme intense - Ultra Male - Dior Poison girl EDT - Stronger with you - Artisan Pure - Cedrat Boise - Versace Pour Homme - D&G king EDP - Profumo ADG - Xerjoff Naxus - Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDP
Olivier Polge create Dior Homme the OG in 2005 and this one Valentino Uomo, that is why there are like brother. Valentino Uomo win 3 FIFI awards in France including a new one, the FiFi d'Or (which awards the best ensemble of bottle, scent and campaign), selected by a jury made up of leading figures in arts and culture and presided over by Jean Paul Gaultier. Voilà! It is a Masterpiece.
I think you'd love reviewing Dior Homme Parfum, if you can get your hands on it of course. It is so much more than Dior Homme itself as well as super complex and interesting. Considered one of the best designer masterpieces of all time.
I've still got a full bottle of Uomo Intense that I purchased in 2016!!! So glad I bought two bottles as the reformulation has killed it's performance.
Glad you're appreciating the true genius of Oliver Polge! He took over Chanel after his father's retirement. Can't wait for all the masterpieces he has in store for that brand 😁
Before I was into fragrances, somebody sprayed a sample for me and a friend to smell this fragrance in London/Selfridges perhaps around 8 years ago. To this day I’ve always remembered the scent and always associated it with Christmas/winter as that’s around the time of year we were in London. This is such an incredible unique smelling fragrance.
Here I am again enjoying my bottle. Whenever i buy something new be it a bottle of Valentino or a new firearm or a new watch, ill open it and listen to RU-vid. Its a ritual at this point. Out of the hundred or so fragrance youtubers I have 4 or 5 that I can enjoy and trust at the same time. Thank you for enhancing the journey my friend. Perfect timing btw
@Aus Tronaut that's cool 😎 I've always enjoyed fragrances even in highschool. I'm a firearms instructor now in South Carolina also I buy and sell handguns. Only recently have I started subbed to the fragrance community. Maybe the last 6 months. Are you in America too?
This one is a great scent. Also for me it's far classier and always got more compliments than the intense version that gets over hyped. I've just finished my intense bottle and I'll be buying the original instead this time. The intense version is very different but I find Dior Homme Intense does what it does but, just, better! Great video :)
Awesome fragrance. One of my favorites for this time of the year. Uomo Intense gets all the love but this one is far more interesting. So happy you enjoyed it, excellent review
I agree, please no false advertising! But essences are great. A great perfumer can create as accord, of rose for example, that is either easier to mix, better smelling, or better performing than simple rose oil. Like you said, they can create here an Iris smell while removing the things we don't like about Iris. I heard from another youtuber I like, Babbs, that mixing certain incenses like benzoin and opopnax with ylang-ylang, you can re-create that iris-lipstick vibe. . . natural ways to create accords better than the originals!
Really love this fragrance..light and really well blended..Hazelnutty iris and utterly gorgeous..an iris designer fragrance done to perfection Valentino really got it right with this one but I've heard their discontinuing it..Nice one Aaron 👍
I always preferred this to Dior Homme, even though people rave about Dior Homme. Valentino Uomo is better for me. Glad you agree! Btw the same perfumer did this and the original Dior Homme. His name is Olivier Polge. :) Okay I have a strong opinion on this one. I have worn this since 2014, when it was released and I have had many bottles of it. But I just finished a bottle and bought another 50ml, and boy what has happened! I thought something was wrong. It smelled so watered down and the beautiful gourmand, chocolatey, coffee accord has practically disappeared. It's like it's heart has been ripped out, literally. It was so rich, I have both bottles old (some left in the bottom) and new and there's definitely a difference. It's night and day. I read into it and apparently it was produced in Spain previously but has recently moved to Paris. Does this mean it's undergone the dreaded 'reformulation'! I am not big on reformulation talk but my, this one is so darn obvious. It's upsetting because for 6 years I have been loyal to this fragrance and I have so many memories attached to it. But will I buy another bottle of this new one, no. It's makes me so angry. It's why it's so hard to find a signature scent nowdays, reformulations etc. All I am saying is if you can like this one, then when it was released in 2014 you would fall head over heels for it. I did, it was such a great designer release and different to what's churned out. I'm so upset, this was my signature scent for 6 years!!!
Yeah I was actually quite surprised Aaron didn’t mention any of the gourmand qualities of this fragrance because it was such a very strong aspect to the fragrance back in 2014. A shame 😢
Valentino broke my heart too, 8 or 9 years ago Valentino V was discontinued. It was my everyday for years. I still have approx 10ml but ill never wear it again. Hurts too much. True story.
@@Chief-Solarize Dua D Pour Homme is the only inspiration I know of, but it's very nice. I recommend it if you miss the Valentino and it's parfum extrait so it's very strong.
@@marcjohn9404 Awesome , I havnt yet tried that one but ill remember that. I've kind of settled into rotating bottles now. Mostly oriental woody spicy stuff. Code profumo ,Aqua Di Gio profumo, La Nuit, Dior Homme 2020 are my dailys now. Thanks for the heads up!
Fantastic review!!! As soon I smell this scent I feel the masterpiece on it the architecture of the fragance is a pleasant effortless elegance to admire! That's what it makes me feel this fragrance the first time I try It doesn't knock your hot of ...you take of yourself to enjoy the aromas play whit your hair your senses a beautiful scent you can ware as your only clothing dress whit elegance and gentle attitude!!! Well done review sir I really love your toughness of the scent!
Its been on my list. I also just recieved my Animalix. I am rediscovering many of my fragrances layered on it. So far I love it. The dirty side of them.....fantastic!
I really like this one and prefer it to Dior Homme , i always get a very slight clash with Dior Homme whereas Uomo just smells spot on. Great review as always. Normally i hate parma violets with a vengeance but this one slipped past me, missed the note completely lol
I’ve been wearing this today (Valentino uomo) - I received a sample. There is something very lovely and unique , like I’ve come across those accords before .. perfume can be so captivating at times . It would be sad if that knobbly refracting gold etc contained an average scent. So I’m dead chuffed it does not. Must buy . Thanks Aaron , peace ☮️✌️
I love your reviews, A.T.! I actually enjoyed both Dior Homme and this scent and with your depiction of the differences between the two...I know which one I am more likely to buy now for date night! But it would be reversed for the gym - since Dior Homme has a Sport version which I really loved for a gym setting/scenario. So I will go with that for that occasion, and Uomo for date nights and formalities! Thanks again for your expert opinion & details ⛽⛽👃🏽👃🏽💯💯
@@brunorafaelnunesvianaviana5800 it works reaally good on my skin. It projects about 1.5mts... and everybody seems to like the smell. Several compliments every time i use it.
Exactly this one i sprayed on me today. Smells very good , but weak performance. That's why, later on, I had to spray 1 time from Shaghaf Oud by Swiss Arabian 🤷♂️
I think the perfumer on this is Olivier Polge, who was also the perfumer of the original formulation of Dior Homme. Francois Demachy took over making Dior homme for subsequent formulations. Hence the similarity between Homme and Uomo. One can say Polge attempted to improve upon his original formulation.
Great review I really enjoy the Iris note in fragrances! U mention Dior Homme which might possibly be my favourite..u've made me put Uomo on right now lol. You should try D.s. & Durga Amber Kiso, it's a woody amber fragrance but it has a really enjoyable Iris note in it...well I thnk so anyway lol
It’s very hard to find fragrances with real orris butter. It smells completely different from typical ionones, it’s usually just alpha ionone and methyl gamma. They will never compare, i’m pretty sure orris butter contains indoles which gives it such a lovely scent.
Hello Aaron !! I had this once a few years back and loved it, however now owning Dior Homme Intense and to me these two smell identical, I think Dior launched first (?)
Hello aaron, I love your oud, I must get another bottle soon and I'm going to leave it untouched for a year or 2 to see how it matures, in fact today I found a bottle of unscripted (Patrick dempsey) my mum got me from avon about 12 years ago, lol, it still seems ok tbh, haven't got the heart to bin it. How long can you actually keep stuff for before things go off as I'm told some fragrances can. Keep up the amazing work.
Great review. Can you review Montale intense cafe pls. I bought some online and when it arrived i thought I was going to collapse. Not for the faint hearted
But please be beware of the fact, that there are two different versions. The old one with the build-in sprayer and the new one with the cap. They smell different
To be perfectly honest, when I first smelled this I couldn’t find any similarities between it and Dior Homme, at least with whatever the current formulation was at that time. I’ve never smelled the original 2005 version of dior homme.
Hi Aaron, Irish subscriber, loving ur unique take on perfume reviews, interesting and refreshing to hear the thoughts of a trained perfumer. Would love if you did a 'quality' top ten fragrances, fragrances that you think have great ingredients and that are worth the price tag. Also random request, any recommendations for a good chocolate or gourmand fragrance? Tis the season.
New to your channel & a fan of your reviews mate. Can you please review Valentino uomo intense review (alone) & a Side by side comparison with Dior homme intense?
Wow! What a shocker! I'm putting together a formula for a perfume for my husband and just today I was thinking it might be a little to sweet and powdery but hearing you say that most men like sort of sweet, fluffy perfumes I feel comforted.
I grabbed a few bottles yrs ago and on discount, i have no problem with longevity, easily 10hrs plus on my skin. Performance ni problem what so ever not sure if its been reformulated
I personally would be very interested in something petrol-y. Garages and gasoline are some of my favorite smells, I don't know how it would work as a personal fragrance but I'd like to experience it.
This is a Fantastic scent! It’s by far one of my most complimented perfumes ever! Women tended to stop me at the Mall to ask me what I was wearing! Simply EXTRAORDINARY
One of my favorite designer fragrances! I'd be really interested to see what you think of the intense version! The new crap Valentino has been producing is absolute garbage bubblegum bullshit and its such a shame
Dior homme vinegary note i get that shu badak. Synthetic iris can have that intense doesn't. He prefers uomo over homme. 7:20 Dior homme lots of fixatives sharpness. Dior homme intense better
How about the new formulation under L' Oreal? It does have spike around the neck and it does not include hazelnut/coffee notes. Can you make a comparison please with the Puig version?
I adore Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense but can’t stand Valentino Uomo and Uomo Intense. I’ve given all 4 another wearing and I think it might be the hazelnut in the Uomo line. I think nutty notes in perfume never have the same effect on me as the odour of real nuts do. It’s coming across a bit funky in Uomo and I can’t move past it.
Does anyonr know if this one has a lot of vanilla in the opening or in the dry down? I do not like when it's an over bearing of vanilla. Which notes exactly you smell during the dry down?
Well Aaron, the Uomo has been totally reformulated and has since 2021 no sweetness hat all. No more chocolate, coffee or anything like that, no leather. The sad thing, is that stores are selling the new without having the information. Even they list the old accords. Its a shame, another great scent is gone....
@@gabrielebrioschi6027 I don't know if it's a good candidate for a signature. It's not that versatile. Really more of an occasional wear rather than everyday. Its going to be too sweet for hot summers days.
BTW Dior Homme was composed by the same nose - Oliver Polge, I always think the noses/composers/creators shoul be mentioned in the reviews, they deserve it - well, who can know it better than you :)) ! Another great review anyway!
