Fragrance is so subjective so the “basic” “ratchet” “tacky” labels, I don’t use personally because I would never want to insult someone or their favorite fragrances just because they’re not my cup of tea. Looovvee the spin on this video, Cheraye! 😍😍😍

LOL this was fun! I literally don't think there is a such thing as a basic fragrance. It's all subjective. Nothing is definite. Ever! Fragrance is like art. Not even Bath & Body Works fragrances and mists are basic. YEA I SAID IT lol

I love your take on this! I think people have a tendency to call anything that lots of women love basic, and to me it feels like misogyny. If lots of women like a drink, a shoe type, an accessory, a style of clothing, a perfume...suddenly liking it is called basic if enough women like it. It just feels like a way to put down women for being into things that are popularly feminine and I’m glad you’re not part of the crowd doing that. Women supporting women!

I like this video. Perfume snobs have to realize the average person may not want to or may not be able to spend $100+ on a bottle of perfume. My finances got better this year and I was able to take the jump and get several bottles of 100+ perfumes that's I've been wanting. Spending that amount of money for perfumes is never basic to me. Basic is $9.99 perfumes at Burlington/Ross/celebrity scents. One can never be basic when your perfume is over $100 🤣

Basic is a state of mind. My husband's favorite fragrance of all time on me is a $4 Avon vanilla body spray layered with Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion. Reminds him of when we met. I have fragrances which costs hundreds of dollars but it's the $4 one which gets all the love. Light Blue is my all time favorite fragrance. I used up 4 bottles last year alone😐

I have Bright Crystal Absolu and Yellow Diamond in my fragrance wardrobe and they are far from basic in my opinion. And Black Opium is definitely popular, I see why some would consider it basic but it’s a great sweet scent to mix with spicy and more masculine scents to give it a more femme vibe.

I also really hate when they call la vie est Belle "basic" and they're like "ohmagad dont be basic" but the perfume is absolutely gorgeous and one of a kind and everyone would ask u what you're wearing if u have it on! This trend of defining ur uniqueness in the fragrance u wear should be stopped 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

I didn’t know that a “basic fragrance” was a thing. 😂 I agree there is a place and a time for every fragrance. When I was a teenager I used a lot of Paris Hilton perfumes and Juicy Couture in my early twenties. Now I’m 32 and I became a Chanel girl. I’m in love with Coco Mademoiselle and I don’t care how many people wear it or have it in their collection. It’s really doesn’t matter for me. I wear it for me because I love it. I wear it for me ❤

Girl, I rarely comment under RU-vid videos but I just stumbled across your channel and this video. The title and thumbnail obviously made me curious (as I own both Pink Sugar and Black Opium) and girl, you are THE sweetest person ever!!! I came for the content and stayed for your personality! I totally agree with you and I really dislike when people literally bash fragrances (or basically anything) as it's always up to individual taste. I cannot believe that Decadence was classified as basic. It is quite unique. I however like your redesign of the topic to indicate there is a time and place for each of these fragrances. Perhaps the topic could have been changed to basic vs complex fragrance portfolios. Great video..

I agree with your point of view Cheraye - I have and love Decadence, Gold Couture, Black Opium (I have the neon one but I like all of them), and I think it's sad that sometimes people are perturbed from buying a perfume they like because they develop a bad reputation such as La Vie Est Belle for instance. if you love it you wear it! The Pink Sugar, I know a very beautiful and affluent woman (she's a specialist of internal medicine near where I work) and she wears and ROCKS Pink Sugar, it's her signature scent and evertime I smell it and think wow she makes that smell incredible, and that's what we all do - we wear a perfume in our own way. I say all the power to anyone who wants to wear these "basic" fragrances :).

This was hilarious Cheraye! I don't think of any fragrance as basic, but I will say that when I'm tempted to blind buy a fragrance and need a deterrent, I think of Bright Crystal. 👀 it's so well-loved, but very much not for me.

Cheraye dahling, I certainly hope Velvet Rose and Oud better not be considered basic because I finally got to smell it and it is good good! But seriously, I think of some perfumes as being lady like and polite, like Marc Jacobs Daisy. Maybe it is considered basic, but sometimes I like the idea of being classic and inoffensive and that is when I will wear a fragrance like Chloe or Daisy. Other times I want to smell like a boss so I will wear a beast mode fragrance like Le Lion, Grand Soir or Botega Veneta. Like you said, some of these basics we like, and there is always a time and place.

Overly used ones like coco mademoiselle can get boring overtime cause you smell it almost everywhere, it was her opinion and I agree with her on most of them. To each their own taste and state of mind like you said. Love your energy 💗

Thank you for your video. Some perfume reviewers like to bash popular fragrances. Also, it seems that once people start getting into niche fragrances, they start bashing celebrity and designer fragrances. Not everyone can afford to buy niche fragrances.

I think You’re great, super nice and said everything in a non offensive honest way, I looove juicy couture not the gold one but the original and the noir and I CAN admit that packaging is a bit much and tacky even lol. I can totally see how someone would say it’s basic. I hate when they call it juvenile tho or only for teens ehh again I blame the packaging for it tho. But here’s what’s up I think the most “basic” are the ones that everyone owns if you smell it a lot it’s usually a nostalgic very popular fragrance popular for a reason tho perhaps? I’d say anything with a heavy vanilla gourmand would be considered basic imo.

I sprayed Black Opium while I was shopping in Sephora today (never smelled this one, I know I’m soooooo late on this fragrance) and as I’m shopping in the mall I’m like this scent is sexy this is not basic!! I guess it doesn’t smell basic on me because my DNA isn’t basic 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 I knew if you loved it it was good good...I move on 🤣 Thanks for a great video!!! 💕💕💕💕💕

Out of all that you listed D&G light blue is the only one I ever own and that was back when it was originally released. I did stop wearing perfume after awhile up until these past few weeks. I do hear a coworker of mine mention it and I’m usually like “huh?” Because I just never thought of it still being a thing
