"Angelina, run, the siren!" A woman on the Odesa beach runs to the sea and calls a preschool-age girl who is merrily swinging on the waves in an inflatable ring.
It was only from this call that we realized that there was declared an air alert. The sound of the siren was not heard in the part of the Caleton beach where we were. They did not announce the alarm from the rescue tower either, although according to the rules they should have done so. As of the second part of June, "Caleton" beach was the only one in Odesa that received permission to open from the local authorities. The main requirements are a shelter nearby, a surveyed bottom, and the presence of breakwaters that can prevent a sea mine from being driven ashore.
Despite the alarm over the threat of ballistic missiles from Crimea, people did not leave the beach en masse. Some continued to swim in the sea.
How the beach season lasts in Odesa, as well as how they react to the alarm in the local water park and how much safer it is to swim there - see in Maryana Pietsukh's report.
