OH, my dear, thank you for sharing your experience! I'm currently having seton after fistulaectomy , I had extra absess, don't know how to call it exactly in English, it was extra bag connected with fistula and now it's being drained.The surgery itself was on the 28.06, every week I have my wound cleaned by my doctor (thanks God I found a real professional in Moscow) and there is a great anestasia that they use called Caudal anesthesia, it's an injection performed in your lower back nerve, but not in your spine which allows you not feel any pain during procedure . I don't know how long it will take to fully recover from this , but my life had changed significantly since it all started, I reappreciated a lot. Wish both of us fast recovery. God bless you❤

Omg!!! Thank you for this. I am on day 3 post seton insertion. Pain is mad. We dont have that drug here in the UK. I am so scared to eat or open my bowels. This is rough. Praying for you and everyone going through this🙏🏾😢

This past year has been very illuminating, it’s amazing how quiet your social media gets when you are no longer the one calling, or the stop who stopped lending folks $5 or $10, or taking those folks to lunch. 10 years ago, in my throes of PTSD/ depression I don’t believe would have bothered to stick around. While I don’t condone that kind of “quitting”, I can certainly understand why people would want to do it. The vast majority of people have no idea how much impact words have on others, it took only one person to ask me how I was feeling to give me motivation to keep seeking treatment. As you have discovered, perianal/perirectal pain is indescribable to anyone who has never found themselves curled up on the bedroom floor, whimpering, searching for breath. I don’t bother trying anymore, I had so much dread of the pain post BM’s that, for several months, I stopped eating altogether and dropped 40lbs. Thank you again for your kind and supportive words, they mean the world to me.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am dealing with an anal fistula that developed from an improperly healing anal fistula that was cauterized a few months back but seemed to open again. This is hell on earth. This is one of the worst things I've gone through. It is nice to know I am not alone and it really is good to hear your story. I know this might have been a hard video to make but I appreciate your transparency. You hit the head on the nail on all aspects that you touched on. Having surgery to that area is so traumatic. I had 1 external hemorrhoidectomy for one large thrombosed external hemorrhoid. 4 years to now I'm now dealing with a abscess. It showed up a few days ago and actually ruptured on its own and I've been applying mupirocin(prescription antibiotics ointment) I also took oral antibiotics. The spot has healed up and my anxiety is just so high fearing it's going to come back and I'm going to have a fistula form but I'm praying it doesn't happen. My abscess showed up like a boil/pimple then formed a white head and then popped and released fluid. I'm praying it doesn't come back or a fistula doesn't form. The anxiety and ptsd that comes from these surgeries and that comes from issues regarding this area of the body of crazy. I appreciate your transparency in the video. Its crazy how this changes and humbles a person. It's hard knowing so many people take that process or their body for granted. It seems like my whole day/world revolves around how my bathroom habits are going.

I just had 2 draining setons put in 3 days ago. Pain before was at a 9-10. Pain after the surgery i was at a 5-6. So much more managable. The abscess i had was very painful, until they drained it and set the setons. Bowel movements havent been that bad, im more scared than anything, lol. I have follow up in 1 more week. I havent gotten any info from the doctor before or after the surgery, so im just going with the flow. Evrythign went so quickly, i went into the ER for the pain, they did a CT scan, and then sent in a surgeon to speak with me about getting the procedure. Theybhad me fast for a few more hours and then wheeled me over to the operating room. All my info has come from RU-vid! Your video helped a lot. Its very embarrassing! I have a bunch of questions written down now to ask during my follow up appointment.
@Blessed_22 did you end up getting the infusion treatment? My doctor suggested prednisone to help with crohns disease symptoms as well. Have you done either?
First of all, you are a lovely young woman..second, I had a hemorrhoidectomy a couple years ago and the healing process was brutal, but I got through it...I can't imagine going through all you have! Thank you for speaking about this, you have helped so many people!

Had a hemorrhoidectomy and one year later an abscess, second surgery, six months later another abscess. I’m on my 3rd abscess so I feel your pain. And same issue here can never get an appointment to see the colorectal surgeon till after the abscess pops. Researching now for a new doc.

I’m 34 and got a fistula around age 21. Only just got the seton in yesterday. No pain yet. But it’s uncomfortable feels weird. But had to get it. So sorry for all you went through. I delayed this surgery for 4 years due to creepy surgeons. I ended up getting a female and going ahead with it. But on the day of the surgery it was a man. Which I’m not happy with them changing the surgeon on me without my consent. But a public hospital in Australia you don’t get to choose your surgeon as it’s free
Thanks so much for your honesty and bravery, more power to you and I hope this hell ends for you though it seems like this is a condition we are all doomed to live with indefinitely if not for life but I keep telling myself, there's so many worse life-threatening illnesses out there so we are still lucky. Just got my seton in 4 days ago, it is bizarre and more painful than my surgeon let on but just soldiering on. Dealing with this 2022 and it is shocking how little information there is on this when so many seem to be suffering. Had never heard about this either before.
I had two incision and drainage surgeries from abscess , I went to a general surgeon and he never listened to me , finally seeing a specialist, I get an MRI to see if there’s a fistula, it’s been a very difficult 5 months

Thank you so much for this. I have a cutting seton currently and have been struggling. I had my first surgery on May 27th, and got two lemon sized abscesses removed. I then had a second surgery done on June 15th, to clean and remove the first two abscesses and a third that the doctors found. Then had another surgery on June 18th to again clean and remove abscesses, they found a fourth one during that surgery and found out that I had 4 fistulas. Thankfully three of those four closed and healed, however the fourth one was so deep connecting to my sphincter. They didn’t want to cut into my sphincter so they decided to do the cutting seton so that it closes. But that part of letting people help me. I have always been so independent, and the thought of allowing people to help, and have any control over my finances and even just making dinner, or getting my pain medicine and glass of water breaks me. I never knew that this was even possible. It is definitely humbling. Life changing, mind changing experience.

Gurrrl I had my abscess last yr and I was just like you and thought it was hemorrhoids. Started in May and I never knew these things existed. I would bleed then go awhile month or 2 and it would burst again and drain. Finally in October I had my surgery and my Dr. tied my abscess off and sliced my fistula open to drain and heal from inside out. I have been on pain meds before this happened so my pain was not bad at all. It was a process though. I’m just now getting to the point where I feel normal again. God bless!!

I had fistula surgery a week ago. I know how it's feels like. It's ah Fuking hell mentally and physically. Sometime burns, stabing pain, itchy, discharges. 😭
I had a traumatic twin birth that caused 4th degree tear which lead to a perianal fistula and abscess 15 years ago, it took about a year to heal but I didn’t have any surgery or anything just left to heal. I remember very little other then the lancing of the abscess and the sitz baths. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago when I felt a familiar pain. I went to emerg 2 times.. just to be sent home with antibiotics and told we don’t see an abscess. I told them it was inside, finally they ordered a cT which showed fistula so they ordered an mri and a surgical consult but said no abscess… it’s been 3 weeks of pain that I KNOW is an abscess and what do you know it burst at home yesterday . So I went into my family doctor where he lanced it a bit more to help it drain and said wait for mri and surgeon to call. So now I’m waiting in limbo as to the next steps but was told I need surgery. I’m doing sitz baths and trying to not have to go to the bathroom. Tips on what to eat to make it as easy as possible? Work is wanting to know when I’m coming back, I don’t know what to tell them as I can’t just explain what’s happening or why I’m not there as it’s so embarrassing .

I've got an abscess drained in January through GA..it didn't heal..then i got diagnosed with fistula..i have a nurse come over daily for packing and my seton attachment surgery will be on Friday...and i took care of my husband who had complex fistulae since 2019.. our lives have completely changed and I'm scared for my seton attachment.. plus I have kids who are only 7 and 4.. anxiety is really kicking in so badly.🥺

There’s no more horrendous and excruciating pain than anal abscess… totally in this path as well, right now dealing with a cut seton which is very painful

Can you elaborate because at times I thought I was going into shock as well which is why I started ozone treatments. Even did IV ozone and DMSO but that was way too strong so now I'm doing ozone myself with my ozone generator. I drink ozone water daily, do hyperthermia and do ozone insufflation, plus ingest and use medical grade manuka honey anally and I've been feeling a whole lot better and noticed these things make my abscess feel a lot less painful, and make them drain very quickly, plus reduce the inflammation drastically.

I had a wee fistula that was easily done with local. Recovery was awful. I cannot imagine what you went through, omg. I now have something draining years later and trying to clear it up myself. I am a nurse so hopefully it works out but if not I will definitely ask for that block.

im going through it right now im so scared to even pass gas. I feel so bloated all im eating is yogurt and soup i didn't have the balls to remove any hemis due to ptsd of all the pain. I will give all details as soon as im tiny bit better. What happened was i gained few pounds and cause of that the scar some how opened up and while i was bathing water got in. next day i felt pressure , day after it got worse. I was so angry that i pressed with all the strength i had to try push out the pus but nothing was coming out. next day i went to bathroom i felt better but also felt like a weld near the scar next thin i know it just pops on its own and i froze i was scared to move. im so exhausted already but got more to mention in case someone needs help. @@Blessed_22 it has returned I saw proctologist yesterday Thursday morning and he said my fistula is back that after I drain to do colonoscopy because he thinks it’s coming from inside but I know it’s not. The way this happened was I gained weight and my scar from previous surgery in 2013-2014 got pulled open and I was taking a bath for about an hr and felt something but made nothing of it. Next day I started feeling blunt pain and pressure but couldn’t understand because before it was sharp. On day 3 I was talking bath again and got mad and pressed on that spot until I saw sparks come out my eyes but nothing came out. Next morning I woke up with a blister but felt 3x better, next thing I know I’m standing and it just bursts and I freeze. I think I broke the butt cheek pocket and all the pus came out. The smell of death scared me too again cause last time I had any issues was atleast 15 years ago so yeah I’m going through it alone stressed to the core with some hair loss cause stress got me this time. What can I eat that’s soft? I feel like a walking yogurt lol atm I lost 10 pounds and 2 dress sizes. Thank you for responding 🫶🏼
@@flexbrawl8617 wow I’m so deeply sorry to hear that. And you are not alone, there’s a community out here that will absolutely support you through this process! And hopefully you can find strength in some form of a Higher Power as well, that always brings me a sense of comfort, knowing that I am not in control and to surrender to the process, knowing I will be OK one way or another. As far as recommendations for food that is soft… I’ve been eating very clean soups. Nothing with seeds or nuts, low sodium high fiber things like that. Also, organic shakes with blended fruit and vegetables were a godsend to me as well.❤️🩹
@@Blessed_22 thank you so much on the foods because I was actually eating almonds cause they high in fiber but also “clog” the stomach so I’m no longer going to eat them. I also wanted to ask you if you can point me in the right direction in terms of hemis. I want them gone but I’m not ready for more surgeries atm. Are there any other ways of getting rid of them without cutting. Is our technology capable of anything new? I heard of rubber bands but I’m not sure if that a good option for me atm. Currently navigating much the same with abscess, surgery a few months ago, seton, heading for MRI next week to see what the current state of the fistula looks like so they can schedule the fistulectomy. First MRI noted superficial fistula, so fingers crossed it stayed that way during the first surgery and seton draining. Your are right, pain was excruciating with the abscess, was taking baths up to 3x a day and feared just going to the bathroom. How have you faired since your post?
I was sent home at Christmas to give birth to an intersphincteric abscess that they thought was hemorrhoids, because they didn't check. . 7 full days of intense pain, my kids saw a side of me that they have never seen. It burst on its own, I was humbled from the delusional pain effects. . I said kill me, I just wanna die, it was so so so so bad, to say the least.

Hi, I’ve had my chronic anal fissure turn into an abscess recently. Now my doctor is saying he needs to place a seton and wait for at least 2 months for the drainage to be done I guess? And after it’s done he’s going to do a laser surgery to close up the seton tract. I’m really scared that the seton is going to hurt and going to make things worse. There’s no visible fistulas and I don’t understand why I have to get the setons if I don’t have fistulas… I don’t know what to do : (
I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. The seton is a drain for the abscess. He needs to wait because you probably have a lot of inflammation. It won’t make things worse. It’s going to get rid of the infection. Make sure you have a Surgeon who explains everything to you, who is very experienced and who you trust. Everything is going to be okay. ❤️🩹
@@Blessed_22 I’m having a really hard time trusting doctors like you did after the treatment I’ve gotten for my fissure which eventually caused it to become worse and chronic. I guess I have no choice but to get the setons even though it’s probably going to be really uncomfortable

I am currently going through a very similar situation to yours and I am only about 3 months in and still have an active abscess and what I believe to be a horseshoe fistula tract which is now draining from inside my anus and two external openings that can become excruciatingly painful as you already know. However, I have found some amazing things to help with the pain naturally as of late and even found a few studies that suggested what I am now using can be even more beneficial at healing a complicated fistula than surgery but I'm still testing that all out. I'd be more than happy to chat with you some more or anyone else about it but just wanted to know how you are doing now? I am still considering a Seton drain but heard they can be extremely painful so like you I am terrified to have one put in, I have Crohn's disease so a Seton so far according to the first colorectal surgeon that I saw would be the only permanent solution she would be willing to offer me to try to stop the abscesses because she will not do a fistulotomy on me or any other procedure to try to close the holes because she says people with Crohn's don't tend to heal very well. So with that said, I will be looking for another surgeon because I think that's bullshit because I've already managed to reduce a lot of the inflammation myself doing various alternative treatments. Plus, a seton drain being my only option at this point isn't really an option for me long term because like you I'm still young and don't want to have a drain sticking out of my butt for the rest of my life! In the future, I may still consider getting a drain put in or at least having another surgery to clean out the infection and possibly necrotic / scar tissue but for right now I'm just trying my best to heal this on my own with what I know and using things like medical grade manuka honey you may want to look into this for fistulas or anything else down there, IV nutrients, detoxing, high doses or liposomal supplements with antimicrobial properties, free radical scavengers, antioxidants and things to help repair connective tissue and collagen, as well as homeopathic remedies. Fiber is also super important to keep my bowels moving properly and formed so that nothing passes through the fistula and I experience what you called the ring of lava fire!!! I can so relate to that and screaming on the toilet or in the bathtub in my sits bath after a bowel movement! My god the pain!!! However, the fiber you need to use is equally as important I have found because some will cause constipation or rip up the gut even further. I'll be making my own homemade anal suppositories as well this week to help my healing along as well, plus doing a lot of hyperthermia treatments for infection, red light and laser light therapy for healing the area, and rectal ozone insufflations (I drink ozonated water every day as well) and so far I am seeing some progress. I do other things as well, but a huge part of what I've had to do to try to maintain my spirits and my health is stress management since this experience has been beyond stressful. Plus, I think this all started in the first place because I had several traumatic experiences that took place in my life leading up to all of this but I'll save you the story because it's long. So far I am three months in and things do still get pretty bad on some days but they are nowhere near where I was 3 months ago when I first developed the perianal abscess and fistula tract. My GOD I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN SO MUCH PAIN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE and like you I was convinced I was going to die of sepsis or anal cancer, it was terrible! The pain would get so bad at times that I couldn't sit, walk, or even lay down without screaming and bawling my eyes out. At one point when I finally went to the ER to have it lanced I even went into shock because my body couldn't handle the pain anymore. Man, I wouldn't wish this crap on my worst enemy and I've been through my fair share of pain over the last 15 years having been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases and Lyme disease. This is by far probably one of my worst experiences to date in terms of the pain, that's for sure! Like you, I now have extreme PTSD not only of going back to the hospital to have this dealt with even further but of having anything going near my butt in general or even going to the washroom. So this whole experience has felt extremely isolating, daunting, and depressing to say the least because like you said there aren't a lot of people talking about this, let alone women. Plus, unless you've had the "pleasure" of feeling this kind of pain people really don't know what you are going through from day to day or what it takes to care for a wound like this on a daily basis. It's like my whole life can't start every morning until after I go through my 1-2 hour washroom routine or how I get anxious every time I am away from home. Well anyway, I would love to hear how you are doing now, and thank you so much for sharing your very personal experience with us. When I figure out how to heal this damn thing I hope to share mine as well someday so that others don't feel so alone. Can I get the name of your surgeon and where he is located? My gosh your comment really hit home for me because I can identify with so much of what you said/explained about your pain, routine and experience. It’s truly life changing and time consuming. I also feel trauma is what caused this initial diagnosis myself, but like you said, that’s a whole other story. I agree that you should have a second opinion from a colorectal specialist. There’s no reason you should have to live in so much pain without the option of a fistulotomy. I think maybe ask if you could get the seton drain put in to get rid of the infection and calm down the inflammation and once that happens if you would be able to have a fistulotomy to cut out the fistulas and finally get some much needed relief! My doctors name is Dr. Tizio in Neptune, NJ. He saved my life. Zero pain after my fistulotomy. ZERO. He’s so knowledgeable and his team is so compassionate. I wish everyone had access to this angel. You hang in there sweetheart. I’m sending you positive thoughts and I’ll mention you in my prayers before bed tonight. Everything will work out. Believe!! ❤
I am from India ..my stroy is kinda same like you...i felt a lump near my anus and i showed up my gynaecologist she suggested surgery and removed the abcess ..but the wound was not healing for 2 months the pus used to come from the wound.. I visited 8 doctors but evrybody just prescribed me antibiotics but nothing worked ..finally when i visited a proctologist he asked me to go for MRI scan and found out i had fistula and immediately next day he did my lasers surgery..its been 12 days of my surgery and i am still waiting for my wound to heal ..😢😢😢 i dont know how much time it is going to take 😟
How are you now? I need to know if you are ok and if you had another surgery please. i sent this message before, but it vanished. Hope this is not a duplicate. @@Blessed_22 well said. I’ve learned to live with my fistula and seton waiting for surgery. And I’ll deal with whatever is thrown at me after that, although I hope it just goes well and everything is healed! 😂😅
@@Blessed_22had my surgery this morning. My surgeon said all went great and I did great. Mine was transsphincteric so they did an advancement flap on the internal hole and cored out the external opening up to the no no area (external sphincter). Currently alternating pain meds and just being a couch potato for now. Any other tips for good healing vibes? 😅

Wow! Great to know! May be you already know but still I am sharing that here doctors recommend to eat daily lots of fibres (fruits and vegetables) and also take one or two teaspoon of psyllium husk daily with lots of water daily (doctor suggested to make it lifelong habit). This will make the stool bulky and hence will prevent it to be hard and pass easily down the colon without causing any rupture or injury to ensures no perianal abscess or fistula. One should be careful for both constipation and loose motions as both can cause this issue. Best wishes !
My god, what an awful experience. I’m telling you, most people just trust that all doctors are competent. Some are not and this kind of stuff happens. It’s sad
