PSA TO SU FANS: I'm a huge SU fan too, but the way the show pronounces Peridot is technically wrong. The right pronunciation is Peri-doh, just like she says. But more people say Peri-dot, but that pronunciation is wrong.

Actually, they’re both correct. The “-doh” pronunciation is more common among jewelers and traders, though.

Fun video as always! I love Peridot gemstones, it's one of my favorites compared to Sapphires and Amethysts. Of course Sapphires will always be my top favorite since it's my birth stone, but Peridot's are up there on my top list of pretty gemstones.

its the accurate pronunciation the more familiar peri-dot is technically wrong though nowadays more people pronounce it the incorrect way then the correct way

Can you do a video on how crystals are man made? not just the sugar/salt crystals many of us have made as kids, but Making more complex ones at home, or how they are able to make altered crystals/rocks in the lab, like angle quartz and now Diamonds made out of pollution. Love the videos :)

What the heck is peridoe? I've heard of peridot but never peridoe. Is it a periwinkle colored female deer? But I've never heard anyone pronounce the word peridot before so I may be wrong. But it is pretty though I prefer the pretty blueish purple color of saphires and I like rainbow quartz, tigers eye and emeralds too.

Peridot is a FRENCH world and if you pronounced it the right way it would be PER- IDO. So she is pronouncing it right. It is not pronounced the way it is spelled.

The scientific way is Peri Doe not Peri Dot. Both pronunciations are correct, but peri doe is a more proper way of saying it.

To my knowledge both pronunciations are correct. It usually differs depending on how professional you're looking to sound. The hard "T" is usually better for casual conversation.
