Periphery I love you guys, I want you to go back to your P1 and P2 days, I really loved P3, but P2 holds a special place in my heart. I definitely subscribed to you guys. I love your work, your talent and performances, you guys have so much skill.
No it is OFFICIALLY part away Nolly wants to pursue his company(getgood drum) and stay together with his family But it is very comfort after his leaveing still work with these guys By the way :p4's bass is record by misha
Also big flashback to this incredible Creativelive session, a year after Juggernaut was out. I remember tuning in to this, live. As i'm from France it was from 11 pm to 5 am, i was dead exhausted but also very happy with this magical time. Very thrilled with this cool moments, where a band you love just tease you with these production updates. Can't wait for 2019, really !
I think Matt had a mentor or some such at Mapex when he first joined them, or at least someone who he had a very close working relationship with. That guy passed away a while back and since then it's been a bunch of people in and out and he wasn't feeling the same connection with the company and felt the need to move on. He's been posting about it recently on his instagram.
Crummock iPhail spot on. That’s basically the backbone to his long posts about leaving Mapex but quite honestly, Mapex is a good company but nowhere near as good as a company like Tama or pearl. I was hoping he would go to Tama but pearl ain’t a bad choice at all. It’s all preference and opinion on drum companies and tones and sounds and the feeling of each drum and company but for me I was never a fan of Mapex in sound or feel. These guys can make any kit sound good so his Mapex kit sounded good but it’s gonna sound wayyyyh better with his new setup with pearl.
@@andyham6094 I mean when you're at their level finding great sounding gear isn't much of an issue, at that point even the relationship with the company is important...I myself prefer mapex and Tama over Pearl, but if he felt the need to shift from mapex to pearl, it's all good...I have no doubt he'll have a great sounding kit at the end of the day
@@kevinlemley5962 he might be good in certain areas, I can't argue that, but you don't have to be a drum tech to know how tension works. Try changing your tire without a star pattern. Like wow. I'm bewildered. Excuse me for being negative here, but it's pretty foolish.
@@richrobb2977 if he isn't busting heads, or otherwise impeding the process, does it matter? I measure success and talent based on results, not how well someone follows a checklist.
@@kevinlemley5962 of course it matters. It's improper. Why are taking a detour and causing grief, money, time, equipment Etc. There's a reason for things. But there's not always an excuse. Does that matter? Go put your tires on your car without a star pattern. I think you'll understand how tension works afterwards. Not in your favour. You're defending someone unreasonably.
Watching Matt play the drums is one hell of an experience. I dont even play the drums, but watching him makes me start tapping my desk at work like I am some kind of drummer.
Even in my mind, Matt is always wearing a hat. His new drums look and sound fantastic, I wasn't expecting Pearl but when he announced it, I knew right there that he made the perfect choice. I hope to see/hear a full kit rundown from him in the future, and congrats to Matt on his wedding!!
My favourite part about watching these studio updates over the years is finding out which fun patterned crew neck Nolly will be wearing this time around.
Good for Periphery for actually recording drums with microphones instead of triggering the whole kit. It's an art which is rapidly losing ground. Triggered drums are starting to sound so fake lately anyway. I'm glad Nolly and Matt are staying true to the art form.
