THANTHAI PERIYAR A MAMANITHAN, MANITHA KULA MANICKAM, MESSIAH OF SOCIAL JUSTICE. UNESCO SAID PERIYAR IS THE SOCRATES OF ASIA AND PAKISTANI HINDUS TALK THANTHAI PERIYAR AS SWAMI PERIAYR (RAMASWAMY!). Without Thanthai Periyar we would not have seen so many untocuhables and BC people with high education and scoial status. Thanthai Periyar criticised tamil, Tamil people and more so Religions. But the his intentions are goid and directed to social justice and self respect. Well, UNESCO described Periyar as "the prophet of the new age, the Socrates of South East Asia, father of social reform movement and arch enemy of ignorance, superstitions, meaningless customs and base manners." SRM movement is dedicated to achieve a society where all are equal human (Casteless) and their rights (human rights) must be protected and people must have self-respect in the context of a caste-based society that considered them to be a lower end of the hierarchy. Periyar relentlessly fought for human rights, equality without discrimination based on caste, religion or gender, for widow marriage, abolition of Devadasi system and to restore their prestige as custodians of Bharatnatyam and Music, reservation policy, against hindi impostition, against superstitions, for temple entry for untouchables and many more social reforms. Globally, these principles are enshrined under the UN resolutions and all advanced and modern nations are fully committed to these dogmas of SRM. Is SRM anti-brahmin? Then let it be! Worshipper of GOD only lived as selfish and casteist religious leader. Thanthai Periyar rejected GOD but his initiatives and commitment for the social justice and welfare of down trodden, was more Godliness.
