I don't think it is a FIBA issue more than it is a culture issue. FIBA is definitely better than AAU for raising young athletes but it doesn't change your work ethic or priorities when you leave the court. In America, many things have your attention outside of the sport you play. It used to be that players wanted to leave poverty but once they leave poverty can they remotivate themselves? It is so easy to leave poverty now. They can leave poverty before they even go pro now. What is an international player's motivation? I don't really know what it is but it appears to be a much longer-term goal.

​@@semi6544lol, the kids you aee are not in poverty anymore. Unless you are tall early, you will stay in poverty. Its upper middle class pare ts who pay for training, or sons of former NBA players. Poor kids play football

Perk is really thoughtful when he's on podcasts (JJ, SAS, etc.), and not on the TV. I think the producers try to encourage him to be this crazy guy with wild takes when he's on TV.

Yea...for every humble, grateful international player that's grinded his way up from nothing like Giannis or Jokic or even a Pascal Siakam type there's still 2 or 3 Americans just like them (Dame, Paul George, Kawhi, Fred VanVleet, etc.). For every international player that grew up in a basketball family w a pro/coach Mom or Dad, like Luka and Wemby, there's 2 or 3 Americans that's the same, like Tatum, Booker, Klay, Steph, Kyrie, or the Ball Bros. Internationals are the same as Americans now, skill wise, development wise. That's as far as you can really go about it. NO WAY that Americans have fallen behind in a sport like basketball.
