Wow Gene, you have some pull in the industry huh? Not only will a company sponsor a $20k set of speakers for you they’ll make a custom center channel to fit your space! Congratulations and well deserved for spreading the science of audio to us with the team you’ve assembled. Keep up the great work everyone at Audioholics!
@@Bluecrabsandsushi The custom Perlisten S5c could of been made longer in length and fitted. So like the S7c same length but shorter depth. But I see several ornaments on the AV unit. So maybe that's why they went with a less long custom Perlisten centre channel.
Haha I'm very honored by Perlisten taking my request to heart. The smaller center fills a need that was missing in their product line and my understanding is it has become a good seller.
Hi gene. I have a full 1723 Arendal setuip 7.4.4. Would I benefit from replacing Arendal center channel with the Perlisten S5C> or would this be a bad idea if I cannot afford to swap to S5M for L&R? @@Audioholics
I loved the fact that you were hesitant to alter the output wirh correction. I would love to have the opportunity to hear speakers that precise. Wonderful review.
Perlisten are an excellent company to deal with. I live in Australia, I ordered a pair of D212s for my stereo system. After watching your review of the D215s. Dan and Lars organised to have the subs shipped directly to my address from their factory. It was a very smooth transaction. The subs were delivered to my door. I have the D212s integrated with my MBL101e Mk2s using a DEQX HDP-4. They are a delight to listen to. I would also love to hear the S7ts.
@@Harald-MacGerhard No, the MBLs are a full range speaker. The aim of adding the Perlistens was, within the limited placement options I have, to achieve a flatter bass response throughout the listening room. I think that has been achieved , at least to my satisfaction.
Hey mate, I'm also in Australia, and running a perlisten d215s, it is absolutely incredible, best sub I've ever heard. Are you still happy with your subs? I'm tempted to downsize to the d212s
Usually I watch RU-vid on my phone or tablet, but today I fired up my HT system and when your intro hit, My Whole House Shook!! Scared the Sh!t out of me!!! Those speakers I'm saving up at the moment! "In Gene & James I Trust"
Those speakers look amazing. Hopefully when the slightly more affordable R series comes out, maybe you can do a comparison between those and the Flagship S series. I'm holding out on buying a new system until then!
These look, and am sure sound, fantastic! I would have gotten these for my theater had I not recently acquired my Paradigm 120H's and 90C setup. I would love to see a review on these, Gene. Thanks for another great video!
So Gene I know you used the IsoAcoustics Aperta300 on your Perlisten center. But Perlisten makes a stand. I was wondering if putting Gaia in place of the stand feet would be as good or better? Im thinking it matches the towers better all with Gaia?
Gene - After seeing your other reviews: For a home theater setup front stage would you select the Perlisten S7T & S7C or the Revel F328BE & C426BE? Both sets received outstanding reviews, from you, and it has been killing me to know which you would pick if you had to choose between the two.
Sweet video. These things look sweet. I am really sold on the design of the push-pull subs. Not to mention they made a 15 inch version. I have a big crush on those. So much in fact that I have became inspired to war game ways that I can earn a higher level of income. I notice you have that commodore 64 in the mix. Do you have that hooked up to that tv? If so how did you go about hooking it up? I have some old vcr's that I could use to run it through my Marantz av7705. Gosh it would be awesome to rock out the commodore on a big tv. Thanks Gene and all of the Audioholics associates you folks kickass!!!
SO I understand that one of the top guys at Perlisten came from MK Sound. Oddly I have a 7.4.4 MK Sound S300 system in my home theater. I have love it. The S300's and the S300T for surround and atmos have been wonderful. I have 4 X12 subs in the front wall. I have had the system for 5 years and I am sad to say that 2 of the subs have failed. I thought it was just 1 but its 2. I did talk to MK Sound and they are willing to send replacement amps for $500 dollars that I can swap out but I am more than a little concerned that the subs will fail in the future. 5 years does not seem so good to me to experience two failures and I don't blast them either. Anyway so I decided to go with Perlisten D212's sight unseen. I just went for it based off all the reviews here and elsewhere. They will fit in the same space as the X12's but I think will be a huge upgrade. I talked with Erik at Perlisten and he hooked me up with Padukah home theater in Kentucky and they got the subs shipped in 1 day. Should have then 12/30/22. Can't wait.
Hello Gene. A bit off topic here but my all time favorite concert SRV Live at the El Mocambo sounds too low! Is it ok to increase the master volume past 0db a bit. Maybe by 6 db or so? Will that distort the signal? Or do you recommend increasing the input volume instead like increasing the input gain on a mixing console? Would that be equivalent to the gain on a console? Thank you very much!
As an owner of both, I prefer the Perlisten. The Revels are good but not quite up to the level of the Perlisten in terms of imaging, bass, and dynamics.
With the "beam forming" design, is that the same as or similar to line source? You referenced the MLP several times. Am curious how would the sound carry to a multiple row home theater and if the db loss be similar to point source speaker or would it be more like a line source speaker?
These were on my short list of speakers to get in November when I did my bday upgrade. It came down to specs vs not being able to hear them. They look and probably sound amazing. I would say that the price is reasonable for something you will use so much for years to come. System came out great, and buff audiophiles unite!!! GO GENE!
@@MusclesAVS wow that's quite the speaker and quite elegant looking. I've never heard of it until now. I hope it has brought and will continue to bring you hours of audio enjoyment. Cheers
Hi Gene, excellent review. Just a question about the front wall. What acoustic treatment are you using? Looks like diffusion to me but it looks unique.
@@Audioholics ah didn’t know that. How can you compare them a bit against the revels? The Perlisten look kinda like MTMs without the issues. Seems like they would be fuller and better time domain performance. Thanks man
Beautiful looking speakers. I thought it had the new Satori TeXtream drivers in it as they look the same But they are different as I seen the drivers out of the cabinet as shown on the website. I wonder how the Perlisten S7 T would compare with vaf Signature I-93MKII that's in the same price range. I've hurd VAF that has won sight and sound awards 3 years in a row. And they was sweet as
Great video Gene… the excitement is impossible to hide; you look like a 5 year old in a candystore when you talk about those speakers 😍 I am wondering if Perlisten is disrupting the whole speaker market….. the 20.000 dollar question now, will they make Donn Dunn dance? 🤣 🤪🍺💖🥳🇺🇦🇳🇴❤️😎🤩
Wow 20 grand for that sort of money they should be something spectacular, can you do a video with miller and kreisel, say the S-150 as they are supposed to the go to speaker for home cinema & music ,also have a great background from the film industry, also the perlisten sub woofer design is surprisingly like the push pull configuration that m&k has 🔊🔊🔊🤷♂️
@@Roof_Pizza if we are going to use cars then the lexus versus camry is a poor example. I would say Arendal is like a Tesla Plaid and the Perlisten is like a Buggati Chiron.
price is representative of the price, AH has review of the Arendal as well and speakers are with very similar profile. The question is; does 5 times price give enough above the Arendal.
@@NoobOnALiter I would say a partial yes based on the following. THX dominus rating means the system can play loud enough and clean enough in a dedicated home cinema above a certain size. Build Quality is a step up. Drivers and Tweeter are a big step up from Arendal. I guess if Perlisten was sold in a direct to consumer model like the Arendal the Perlistens would be more like 2.5 to 3x the price of Arendal...... again it cones down to room sizes. Perlisten is designed for rooms where systems cost 4-5x more than Arendals.
@@pumpituphomeboy Clearly its by case scenario. If your room it's not a huge one, you can go with 1723 and invest the extra in the other equipment. Of course, if you have the buck Peralisten it is.
God Damn it, when my centre channel did not fit, I never thought to ask the manufacturer to knock me up a smaller one, dang it, what was i thinking!! or not thinking, I will know next time.!! Guess when you have influence in the industry you can have the cheek to do that, instead of doing what the rest of world would do and work around it to find a solution. Someone is getting a bit big for their boots!
TEKTON did this tweeter/ midrange array over 15 years ago. My Pendragon’s sound just as good today as the day I bought them. And for a fraction of the price of these. Guess it’s good that some speaker companies are catching up - lol
Tekton bessel array of tweeters is not the same thing as what Perlisten is doing. Very doubtful the Tektons measure as linearly as the Perlisten. But if they sound great to you, enjoy.
The Kef is a good speaker but actually has less bass extension and won't play as loudly as the Perlisten. I'm very critical on bass output of speakers and usually active bass drivers are the only full size towers that satisfy my bass output requirements.
