George Perlman (1897-2000) Israeli Concertino for violin + piano (pupil's concerto) Movement 1 : Hora-Hatikva, with much vigor and swing Movement 2 : Nocturne, slowly and with feeling Movement 3 : Fantasie-Recitative, vigorously
I do online violin lessons with my teacher who is awesome and kind and when he showed m this piece, i knew it would take a while and im 3/4 away from my recital and he helped me through it. SHOUT OUT TO ALL NICE VIOLIN TEACHERS
I'm playing this concerto as a solo in April, I'm very excited because it's such a beautiful and exciting piece, very emotionally moving in the Nocturne movement as well. plus as a student, this is such a great reference!!
It so emotional! I'm 12 and I will play this concertino (all three movements) in my final exam in music school. In Russia it is impossible to find the notes of the accompaniment, but I enjoyed the concert so much that we ordered them from America! I'm happy )))
Well, four years ago I wrote that I was going to play this concerto for my final exam, and now I randomly went here and saw my comment. I really need to tell you how I passed my final exam, because it is a really nice story! The thing is that when I started to play the phrase from 9:00 (which starts from D-G-Bb-D), I accidentally skipped the whole part with the chords! I mean I played it like it was 10:33 part (which starts the same way and then goes to the end) already! I skipped about a half of a page at my bloody final exam! But there are more funny things, here they are: 1. No one except my mom and my teacher noticed. They didn't know that concerto, so they couldn't know something is wrong! My concertmaster had understood everything so fast and followed me so well that it sounded like nothing is wrong! 2. I didn't notice myself! I only heard that the concertmaster had same unusual harmonies, but I thought she just played something a bit wrong accidentally. I realized what happened only when I left the concert hall and my mom told me! 3. It was my worst nightmare to forget to repeat something if there were some repetitions or to repeat it too many times, but actually I'd never done that before this exam (well, only at rehearsals). And then the last exam - and it happened! Well, that's a story I am going to tell for my entire life. I mean, I am sorry I did that with such a masterpiece, but in the end I had my "5" mark (Russian version of "A", "very good") and when I played it at some concerts, not an exam, I did everything right. So I think it's a good funny happy-ending story!
Omg! I didn't know the actual Israeli anthem is integrated in this piece! I just looked up 'Hatikvah' because I was intrigued. I don't know why it fascinates me so much
Greetings!! I am looking for this score. Do you have it in a pdf file?!I would appreciate if you could send it to me. In other hand I can exchange scores with you! Regards Valter
King David Consulting LLC I can't find much info of this composer if he is even alive, I thought maybe it is inspired like the "indian" one he did but maybe he is Jewish though.
This is a recording by conductor Lawrence Golan, violin and Martin Perry, piano. Here is a link to the recording: www.amazon.com/Indian-Summer-Lawrence-Golan/dp/B000X12MGQ
George Perlman lived from 1897 to 2000, an American Jewish man who lived to see the entirety of the 20th century. Be careful calling this easy or the melody poor, because if you are passionate enough yourself to be medium to the music, this piece can sing about the return to the holy land, weep for the sufferings of the jews, and haunt you with stories of survival. Thanks for the great video that helped me learn this years ago. Still my favorite to this day.
I have been performing for almost 9 years and this is my all time favorite piece. I can feel every emotion that was put into it, and so can my audience.
I used to play this years ago when I was in much younger, but stopped playing close to 20 years ago. I've picked violin up again and my goal is to play this again. I don't remember ever playing this well. Such a shame I stopped
How is it going? :) I stopped 5 years ago, it was the year that I was supposed to start with this, but I never got there. Now I started this January again with lessons and I am full of motivation :)
PreservationEnthusiast It’s not more challenging, it’s impossible for the level of players who are learning this work. They probably have not even played any concertos, only concertinos. It would be better for them to go onto a Mozart concerto (preferably no. 3 or no. 4) Most violin students (unless they are in a pre-college program) do not even touch the Brahms until college. That being said, learning the violin takes time and effort, so rushing to play the Brahms concerto when you don’t understand many of the techniques used, may actually set back their progress.
George Perlmans Stueck erinnert an Klezmer_Musik.

@@sneddypie I don't think it switches every measure. If you look closely, there are a few instances where there are two measures next to each other each with 3 beats.

I am an adult violin learner. I started one year ago and now I am trying to play something nice, in my case is becoming difficult using my 4th finger and second position. But is a good one to practice it... Such a beautiful peace....
