The thing is, for a game with such a ruthless reputation it has the tightest communities, most helpful strangers and most meaningful relationships of any mmo, DUE TO the ruthlessness of other players and the harsh reality of New Eden. The love of death enforces the love of life.

It is simple, realy; We (EVE-Players) all know how hard it is to start. We all know that it is impossible to know it all. So, if you have no idea, someone will be there to guide you. And if you act like a smartass that knows it all (while your actions say you know jack-shit), you will be dogpiled into submission, your sexual orientation questioned, your mental abilities proven to be nonexistand and you perceived superiority crumbled to bits and pieces by creative exploitation of game-mechanics that even advanced academic game-theorists consider unlikely. EVE Online - Know your limits.

I feel a sense of pride, a sense of belonging, a sense of being a citizen of not just a game universe, but of a CULTURE. We have our songs, our stories, our celebrities and even villains. It really is about the trip, and not the destination. How can other games live up to this complete picture of our hybrid reality? Dance and sing on pilots, you complete our world. Eve Forever.

+CptArmarlio because it's much more efficient, and can do a lot of things that windows does not. My point is that if CCP dropped their nasty python, dx and asp.net codebase for something much more reliable like C++ OpenGL/Vulkan, DPDK based packet proccessing, it would improve overall ingame exprience and remove many existing bottlenecks. It's practically impossible to proccess 40Gbit of traffic with a single node on windows, but it could be done on linux/bsd with DPDK, for instance. So, CCP should learn how to profile, test and optimize their products. There's a pile of bottlenecks and lagacy codebase (crap) in Eve nowadays, and There are so many things that could be improved.

+Yuriy Yarosh Only that rewriting a game with about 15 years worth of code base is more or less impossible. Well, it is possible but considering the devs dont even know anymore what a good chunk of the code even does. *cough* the POS code sausage *cough* They would have to stop ANY feature development and release for quite some time while rewriting the entire game. Or most of it alteast. Also all the performance intensive things like physics simulation, graphics rendering and all OS level interaction is written in C++. Only the games feature code is written in CCP Stackless python. And thats probably for some good reason. Also there is a OGL render available for EVE, it does have a Mac Client afterall. Though offering a OGL or Vulkan renderer would be a nice feature. And a linux client FFS...

I found this song through Rock Band. I listened to the lyrics and I actually thought it was about how violent the world has gotten with frequent terrorist attacks and ongoing wars. Like, violence is so common that it's how people communicate. Then I find out it's just about some game. Song is badass either way.

Iceland's environment, shaped as it is by the diametrically opposing forces of ice and fire, certainly makes for a dramatic backdrop to music videos. Though CCP is a weird games company in that it has its own in house rock band to make music videos for EVE Online. *Sigh* If only more games companies were as committed to their products and player base.
