If my hair was longer than an inch and a half, HELL YES I'd do this! I did hair for 20+ years and never had half as much fun as you do Guy! Which is why I no longer do hair. I've been watching your vids since yesterday and I'm amazed at HOW TALENTED you are! You think of things that I never did! Sure it was a different time but just in this video, never would have thought to unwind the hair to make sure the perm solution was getting all the way to the ends! I love the vids you do with colour, I love these new, bold and neon and metallic colours that are out now! Keep going Guy, you're incredibly talented and these videos are informative!

One thing I have learned working with other stylist and some being experienced for over 35 years is to not put the perm rod/roller out to far, it's what causes the curls to become looser because you're taking out so much of the tension. It still looks beautiful but it was pulled out too much. When applying the solution you can apply it to the sides as well and it should soak in.

My hair literally falls flat within minutes of curling and I've always wanted to try this but I'm scared I won't like it or it will be hard to manage for when I go to work :/

I think this type of perm still needs to be perfected. I haven't seen one that I really like much. I think its only workable if you get this perm and then still use a curling iron for touch ups.

Did this perm today on a 13yo girl who wanted some wave almost a curl. I used 1” bender rods tho since her hair was to her shoulders. WOW. I LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE. It left the roots alone and it looked sooo cute and natural

love it! this is what I wanted for my hair. the girth of the roller is so important. The rollers for the perm that I got were basic 80's style rollers that were waaaay to slim. the stylist told me that it would work. I questioned her and teeter tottered with her the morning of. she said it will work I promise. nope. now I'm left with a look I never wanted. wish I could reverse the perm! I'd give anything for my straight hair again. Love the look Guy Tang!

This looks great. I have fine hair, but a LOT of it, and no wave to it at all. My hair doesn't hold a curl at all. I would love to try this so that I would have some body to my hair and then be able to actually use a curling iron every now and then!

Wow!! That wave looks fantastic!! I've never been interested in perms because I never knew anything about them beyond the stereotype of those big tight curly hairstyles from the 80s. I'm desperate for my texture and volume in my hair, but I'm growing it out at the moment (it's about to my jawline in length now, not like my photo). Is it possible to get the same beachy wave on short/bordering on medium hair?

Do you recommend a certain type/ brand of perm solution? You're the only one that does it right! I have shoulder length natural, fine hair and it gets super flat and I want to do a body wave and try to give it some texture.

I remember back in the day (18+ years ago) we would highlight and perm at the same time lol (this is not done today though). I still love doing perms till this day, they stink (not as bad as they used to)but that is the smell of money :0)
