Permanent hell: life with a traumatic brain injury 

That last comment shook me to my core . As someone with several TBIs this really hits home . It’s a living hell for most of us who aren’t bed ridden because we literally have to face a feelingless world daily with no understanding from anyone . Even our closest family or spouses can’t or won’t understand mostly to no fault of their own . So you live and struggle daily . There are brain helmets now that are thousands of dollars . I purchased one as a last resort . Let’s see how it goes .

I wake up everyday and feel like I have someone else’s brain in my head. Lost everything after a TBI, career , home, and future. It’s been 8 years and I live with loss of vision, loss of sense of smell, anxiety, seizures, tinnitus, depression, stuttering, loss of confidence, tremors,vertigo and much more… you have to live through it to understand. I’ve.ost family and friends . I really lost myself

I survived a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and all the professionals wrote off my life. Despite this, I worked and worked and worked some more. thank you for not minimizing the reality of tbi. so many these days love to shove neuroplasticity at us as if to blame us for continuing to have difficulties even decades after the injury

TBI is a death sentence, there’s no way out until the end. I just try to make the most out of what I still have left.

I had a minor TBI and I've experienced enough living hell in the past 3 years to understand why so many athletes with a brain injury are committing suiside. The pain gets pretty brutal.

It’s living hell with a TBI. Seizure disorder, cognitive deficit but I look a bit like I used to. I’m a shadow of my former self. Fatigued depressed and anxious it’s no life.

They need to start showing people that hurting your brain is bad. I have a brain injury

Now I’m starting to worry, because I’ve had several traumatic head impacts like this during my childhood which seemingly went unnoticed. My parents were also oblivious to these instances, and I can’t help but notice that around that exact time, I completely changed on a psychological and emotional level. It’s almost like I’m a different person from my younger self before it happened.

I wish you were my neurologist, a lot of them want to down play every thing you go through. They are better at being surgeon....there bed side manner sucks.

i got into a bar fight and got hit front in my forhead with a full bottle and knocked unconcience. it has taken me years to bounce back from that injury. my family thought i was on drugs because i had a history of drug addiction. this injury took my mental clarity and focus away. thank god i bounced back but it was a long road to recovery. I mostly think it was the lord who got me thru this bad period in my life. so you can bounce back but it is a slow process slower than a turtle. take it from me.

My son was killed by drunk driver while crossing the road his head was damaged I kept thinking I just wished he had lived my boy my son

My cousin attempted to take his life March 2020. He was revived by paramedics after 30 minutes. He’s been in a vegetative state ever since. He’s still physically alive, but his arms and leg have contracted, he has many seizures, he has a treach that has to be suctioned regularly, he’s tube fed, he has to be turned every 4 hours to prevent sores. He’s 31. This is so much worse than if he had been successful.

I've got damaged nerves/brain and my life is a living hell, the only thing that keeps me alive is just watching series/movies all the time, or some sort of distraction like talking to people, when i don't i've got no clue wheather i even exist.. But still.. my desire to live and my memories of how life was keep me going.. My scenario is different ofc since it's cause of drug abuse in the past.. Still it's just a 5% of a life what a healthy person would have..

The worse thing is when a psychiatrist prescribed antipsychotics to a tbi patient causing more damage.... do you know a psychiatrist or medication for repairing the brain from psychiatric medication

The pressure is the worst. Makes me want to scream. It could have been so much worse but i still wish i died that day. I fractured my skull and got sent back to work within an hour of getting my scalp stapled. Its strange, when you get an ABI youbpretend that youre super and its not that bad. Nobody to remind you that you need to follow protocol. Just feed your ego about how tough you are and "i cant believe yourr not dead" yeah im the terminator.

I suffered a tbi... it was from being aubused.. I had to be put in a coma and get a feeding tube.. it sucked.. I dont really remember anything.. I only remember coming home from the hospital with the song Coming Home playing.. I also hate having a tbi because I get looked at differently... I was three when it happened and Im now 15.. Man does it suck.. I hate it!!! It makes me feel not normal yk??

While right side brain was damaged is any treatment and is any chance to get recovery the patient and she will perment bed rest

even though I was hit by a large overhead lamp and was diagnosed with concussion and neck injury, no one here in sweden will say tbi, they started saying maybe ptsd and now are saying i am makig it up

I'd like to see the outcome that he's describing. I know it's dark and morbid, but until you actually see it for yourself, you will never truly appreciate what he's talking about here. We talk all the time about the dangers of head injuries, and in Australia there's been a movement to end the cowards punch for quite a few years. But the program only focuses on the punch itself, the legal repercussions to the perpetrator...etc...I've never actually seen the end result. I've watched tons of knockouts here on youtube, and some go WAY too far....continuing to deliver ultimately deadly blows after the person's lost consciousness and is defenseless. I'd like to see what happens to these victims - if they survive, what sort of life do they go back to. I reckon a program that focused less on the perpetrators and more on the victims would be pretty powerful. Yes, you will go to prison for your assault, but show them what they're actually doing to people!

I am dating a girl with a tbi caused by a horse riding accident. It's very challenging, im just learning as i go.... i love her and she loves me but lately it's become very difficult because she has changed all of the sudden, believing she's psychic, communicates with demons, a demon has taken over me (sometimes),she's afraid she's going to hell.....i can be talking to her on the phone and a compliment will trigger her and she will not talk to me for days thinking i ment to hurt her. We've been dating for about 4-5 months. 4 months were the best days of our lives, then like a switch it changed... im trying to learn as much as i can, as fast as i can but...

True story...people have no clue...thank god for my tbi program...they know how and why..it still sucks..but they try so hard for me..im not going to let them down

I have a severe traumatic brain injury with a diffuse axonal injury. It is getting better how I feel, but it does feel like a living hell sometimes. I always feel like crying for basically no reason, it’s weird. My brain didn’t move as he said, but I fractured my skull. It does feel like a living hell sometimes.

You have to ask why if we were designed our brains lack the ability to regenerate and regrow neurons or repair cells. I understand if the control was turned off but I honestly think that now that we have to have research done into how to turn back on the sequence to repair with stem cells lost neurons. Also I can only imagine it due to how chemically and cellularly my brain was damaged to where I could do less and less cognitively and slowly fell to low average IQ, for me it happened from taking Seroquel which when i researched later and to the best of my ability Seroquel especially alters the cells of prefrontal and frontal cortex to slow it down explaining my mental decline. I'm slow, I didn't ask for down regulation for depression and anxiety from ADHD, I asked for upregulation with what had worked for me in the past a low dosage of stimulant.

Thank GOD I had my hydrocephalus shunt that saved me. Pumped off the fluid. 💕✝️

Hi , Im'ma from (MIT) university freshmen. I've encountered a recent incident that has left me in need some advice . I wanted to share that I recently experienced a concussion two days ago, and unfortunately, it has occurred again in the same right side. I'm wondering, would a sudden sideways motorbike collision with a cycle at a speed of 30 km/hr., causing a forceful movement of my torso to lurch and my head in relative (lateral flexion) in the same area of the first concussion ,can it potentially cause some DAI and possibly axotomy to the previously concussed neurons ? very worried since i am difficulty speaking like finding right words and articulating fluently and even slight difficulty understanding words and its been 1 month no recovery? i initially have no symptoms after the incidence like nausea or dizziness , does it cause any permanent deficits or it is just temporary ? and Does this injury lead to the diminution of a handful of neurons?

My brother had an accident 3 year ago still not recovering no matter how hard we try he is not getting well day by day its getting worse

My brother has also experienced global hypoxic brain injuury.... Its been a month now Only he can open his eyes but limited look around movement.. He can move his lips a little.. And he also yawns Its been a week he is breathing on his own initially was put on a ventilator I want to know about his future

Neurologist told me I had a 20% chance of recovery and almost lost the left side of my brain from a major stroke. I was in the operating room in an hour of having it. I took a helicopter ride to the hospital that I don't remember!!! This was a year ago this month from what I am told. July 31st 2023. I guess I came out of it alright I really don't know. I try to focus on what I can do instead of what I cant... As hard as that is. But simple things like taking a spoon out of a drawer in the kitchen I go to a cabinet instead of a drawer. I forget why I walk into the bathroom... Turn around walk out..... Oh yeah I gotta pee!!! Last night when laying in bed with my wife we arm wressled with my right arm (my affected side) And while shaking I almost won. Haven't been able to do that in a year. Yes recovery takes time but I now know and realize I will never be the person I was prior to having a stroke. I can't drive alone..... I get confused and lost at times....... But I can still drive! I can't cook on the stove...... I forget what im doing....... But I can still feed myself. I can't go fishing much any more..... No stamina..... But I can watch the fish and manatees in my back yard daily. My skin doesn't feel like its my own......nerve damage I guess..... But i.can still feel. I can't work, had to close my business down......cant think straight and forget numbers.... But I have a wonderful support system. I'm done typing but if you read this then you know.... Every brain injury is different for everyone. But we aren't alone.

I was hit by a car 3 and half years ago medical negligence from a hospital sent me home and had continued to ignore my symptoms after major fractures found in my ankle bones and cervical, thoraic, and lumber issues found, from bone scan, than other doctors still ignored my symptoms in my head my head aches the burning and stiffness just had mri brain and neck I have serious what matter demyleinating disease hemorraghagic gliosis and scattered subcortical foci, because of symptoms I presented to neurologist shinking left for arm with clenching left hand and smaller fingers and vertigo sleep disturbances, the list goes on with bladder and bowel problems, its a living hell as I have been telling doctors for years my arms feel like they are dying, honestly you have to live it to know it, my body energy swings from hot and cold in hands and one leg my blood circulation in my arms has been restricted serverly for years, not all doctors are anything like professor Andrew H kaye, im sure if I was one who was able to have seen him first when injured things might have been different for me,

my brother just died last month, he took his life for like no reason. he was a professional athlete, i believe had a psychosis due to a TBI.

Why keep them alive then?

Can psycehedelics help? Brain is incredibly complex and there many backup neurons.

Reminds me of when I had a frontal lobe brain injury and had fluid oozing out my ear. I was lucky though. Even though I lost my career in engineering, some hearing, my eyesight was fine, my intellect was fine. I overcame alcoholism, almost depression by finding a woodworking hobby. Don't think it can't be you.

Hell is a place away from the Lord, but if you call on His name, He will answer you. And this is speaking from experience. Every Christian should know Jeremiah 33:3 by heart. "Call unto me and I shall answer thee, and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not." Dying without Christ would be a far greater hell than what is described here, and trust me, I've been in that place between life and death with a moderate to severe TBI, three bleeding hematomas, 17 skull fractures, shearing, on Nov. 6, 2018. I should not be alive and writing here. Trust in the Lord every day you breath, friends. He will answer you, and abide with you when no one else will, even in a body that has become a seeming prison.

I don't like this video. I have a relative who suffer dai now. And she is lying in bed, doctors says that only thing we can do is praying. After watching this video I realized that my relative is in hell. With all family. I hadn't this feeling before I see this video.

Just wanted to share my miraculous brain injury recovery in hopes that either someone in this comment section (or someone you know) may benefit.
