This segment appeared in the very last episode to feature Adam as the main Cartwright. It was downright shameful of the producers not to create an episode to explain his departure. It was abrupt, hostile and ungracious. Many chastised and mocked Pernell Roberts for being foolish throwing away the millions of dollars and fame by walking away from Bonanza. But he had courage to march to his own beat. Stardom was not his goal. He was restless, needed something more challenging and regarded time as too precious a commodity to keep reprising a role that did not develop. His stage, tv guest spots and film credits following his departure from Bonanza shows a man hungry for variety. And I am glad he achieved the satisfaction many cannot understand. You have to admire a man who lives by his principles and integrity.
You have really touched my heart. I have always said he followed his own dream. Thank you, you made me feel so good. Pernell would have loved your comment. Again, thank you. Peace.on
Before he died producer David Dortort gave a video interview to the Television Academy in which he admitted that the biggest regret he had was not letting Pernell Roberts take recurring status, perhaps by marrying off Adam. It would have allowed Bonanza to mature as a program, instead of being frozen in time.
CLARO QUE SI ,EL ERA UN GRANDE ,UN HOMBRE QUE APARTE DE HERMOSO ERA LEAL FIEL A SUS PRINCIPIOS, COMPROMETIDO CON SUS VALORES HUMANOS, UN GRAN HOMBRE EN TODA LA EXENCIÓN DE LA PALABRA, ❤❤❤
This song is my life. And ... during a short move to MT, I used this song to define the pain, and the loneliness of that desperate decision... which altered my life, and... I stayed there only 6 weeks.. and... moved on.. again....
This song in this episode was the first time I heard Pernell sing and I've been awe struck with his voice ever since. Unfortunately the video doesn't show me the lyrics and I can't understand Hoyt's part.....
Thank-you so much for putting this together. To Anna Blackburn, I also am having problem with the flash thing but, I'll keep trying because I love Pernell Roberts. Again TYVM.
This one appears to be a tribute to Pernell Roberts. He did have a wonderful talent and singing voice. Of course all the guys on Bonanza could sing. Remember the Bonanza Christmas LP. I love it so much I looked for it on CD, found it and purchased.
