Well according to the holy scriptures there is no way it was recorded that we who are still alive can pray to those who are dead to pray for us to Jesus Christ. As a believer of Christ Jesus you relay on the holy Spirit alone just as the early Christian relay on the holy Spirit to over come. The Saints and martyrs are not dead, they are alive, just as Jesus said that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are alive. The book of revelation also talks about them being alive. As full members of the Body of Christ Who have already passed through the trials of this world and gained their reward, of course they pray for the members of their Body who are still in need of prayer. When I die, I’ll certainly pray For the members of my family who are still in the fight and I will pray for the rest of God’s children as well. I’ll be so grateful for my salvation, that I will want to do whatever I can for the Lord that would bring him joy. What brings him the most joy? The salvation of his children. So I will ask him if I can pray for them or do anything to help his children come Home. I’m sure He will answer my prayer. I hope I can spend my heaven praying for the Body of Christ still on earth until Jesus returns in His glory. Amen! Alleluia! Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Service from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. I will pray this prayer while I am in the flesh and when I am awaiting the resurrection of my Body, until the prayer is no longer needed. I do not believe that God will push me aside and say my prayers are useless just because I have lost my flesh. The Bible never says that we become a useless member of Christ’s Body when we die.

Yet did our Lord teach his disciples to pray to them ? But what did he say, “what so ever you ask the Father in my name it shall be done.” When we pray to those who have went before us, have they become gods as some teach we become, able to be omnipresent and be everywhere and hear everyone and read minds? I concur we dishonor the saints and turn them into the same pagan gods the Romans had in their homes. I just read today on another site that some saint is the patron saint of toothaches. Isn’t Augustine the saint of beer or partying or some such nonsense? This is all ridiculous and superstitious. Love the saints. Honor the saints. Learn from the saints. Be proud of your ancestors. We can have grand fantasies of standing up for Jesus and being beheaded by the antichrists of this world and in reality shrink back with fear in the grocery store when we have an opportunity to shine as lights for our Savior. It is so important to let Jesus mold us in our everyday life by his merciful spirit. So whether we pass on peacefully in old age or are torn asunder by wild beasts, we are the Lords. It pleases him for us to live out the life he has graciously given us to life. All Saints Day, which is today, is a great time to reflect on those saints who have gone before us. Some martyred, some isolated monks, some great theologians, and some so quiet we have never heard of them. But they all had the same thing in common, as do we who believe. @@Anna-mz4ij Though the saints are alive in heaven, they cannot hear your prayer. We have been given the Holy Spirit today to communicate with God on our behalf and that is enough. Anything apart is unbiblical. Nowhere in the Bible the saints prayed to James or Stephen who were martyred.

So, you think that this woman, who was a Catholic is in hell? In fact, all of the Christians in this story were Catholic. You heard the story, she was a martyr who died for her Jesus. The narrator calls her vision of her brother as strange, or something like that. Clearly her little brother was in purgatory and St Perpetua's prayers and sufferings were instrumental in releasing him from there into Heaven. Your comment is heretical. We will have to trust that God will give us the grace and the strength to endure in those moments when we face those situations. We don't need it ahead of time. As Wm Paul Young says: live in the grace of one day... Maybe the best way to prepare for any difficult or scary situation is learning to trust Him in small things now. Be loved! :-)
