I have seen them in Slovenia. That was one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my whole life. The audience stood up singing with them. All of the singers are pro, one by one, the choir leader is genius, they are pure music, the top of the music I guess. I know a lot of songs the way they sing, except from beat boxing of course. My dream as a singer is to be able to sing once with them on the stage in the last row, having the smallest part.
I suggested this version to my son's chorus class. The teacher incorporated it into their list and won the regional award at the annual Disneyworld High school Chorus Honor! #SMHS
chas ames Well said!!! Like Baba Yetu (Our Father) - written by a Chinese American, the Lord's Prayer translated into Swahili and set to a tribal African rhythm, sung by a Gospel choir. Once in a while we get a glimpse of how awesome it all could be, then others have to go and f**k things up again.
The founders met at the school in California, USA. The band is from the United States, although Simon Phillips was with them for many years instead of Jeff Porcaro. Simon is British, the band is not.
Seven years later and it STILL gives me chills!!!!! Perpetuum Jazzile has absolutely raised the bar for performing this song!!!!! Edit: 2023 and 23+ million views. 23 by ‘23. :-)
Having listened to many other excellent covers of this fabulous song over the last decade, I still think this is the best. The bass percussion vocalist is outstanding!
This was the first video music my grandson ever saw, at the age of about 18 months. He was so fascinated, he watched the whole song without moving. He's three now, and it's still his favorite!
Over a decade ago I watched/heard this my first time, and well over a dozen times since. I've never heard anyone come close to the talent of this Slovenian group of stars. Just amazing. I never get tired of it! Who knew that Spiderman could sing like that?
me and my grampie used to watch this together in 2009 before he died, it's still my favourite cover. every time any version plays it's a solid reminder grampie is right here with me
I never get tired of watching this, truly amazing. Slovenians are good and kind, and know how to have a lot of fun. And to think all this talent, and all these wonderful people, were trapped away in the former Yugoslavia.
Kosta Kostov Nothing wrong with Yugoslavia, but it was a powder keg waiting to explode...and it did in the 1990s. Yugoslavia didn't have the same harsh policies as Russia and the Warsaw Pact countries. It's one fatal problem was so many different ethnic backgrounds forced into one federal system. Slovenia has little in common with Serbia, Bosnia, Herzegovina etc. They're more influenced by the Austrians and Italians. Not that there's anything wrong with Serbia or the other republics. It's just that Serbia had the most influence, naturally because it was the biggest Yugoslav republic. We actually have the same problem here in the United States. What California likes may not necessarily be in the best interest of Virginia.
Redstar Yu Probably the most lenient of the former European Socialist countries, where personal liberties were concerned. But Yugoslavia had the problem of so many different ethnic backgrounds, some who didn't get along with their neighbors. That's not to judge Yugoslavia, if that's where you live. It's just that some of the republics really didn't fit in so well. Slovenia didn't have that much in common with the other republics. That's why you see them aligning themselves more with the EU, and adopting the currency.
Lex5576 you know why Yugoslavia fall apart ?!.. after Tito died Milošević (and Mladić) ruined everything what Tito stand for ! the life we lived back then when Tito was alive was truly amazing ! i wish that we can restore that .. but i think that right now this is impossible, to much hate between ex Yugoslavian countries (because of that stupid war) !
A big thank you to you @Pertuum Jazzile because you gave me the inspiration with this song to transmit emotion to a group of autistic children during a musical awakening workshop. A fabulous moment ... ! Thank's so much.
you got to get into it. try to do something else than a whole group at the same time. if you are not getting into it, you can't do it, you get distracted and carried away.
...still watching this is 2017, and still loving it! This is still the best version of the song out there. There is another popular video of a different large ensemble, but that version cannot touch THIS performance.
ASTOUNDING rendition of a rain and thunderstorm! Just listen without watching...this is just people's hands, feet, and voices! The thunder is incredible!! Love you, Slovenia! Great job!!
My 3rd time back. Makes me want to see and BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN AFRICA in person, since I know all of the words...in time. Now at 77. This keeps getting better every time I hear ALL OF YOU. Love from America.
As you can see below. SEVEN (7) years have passed and I still had to come back to a FAVORITE. I am now 76, and the talent you show hasn't been forgotten. Thanks again.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just visited your beautiful country, Slovenia and now I find your amazing performance of a timeless song. Thank you for your amazingness!
I was about 15 whenever this song came out originally and absolutely loved it then and it never gets old and it still stands hair on my neck and that's 40 years ago now! It stands the test of time for sure. The whole point of this song is not to be able to distinguish one voice from another. It's 100% blend. The beatboxing is phenomenal!!!
Many have done it but none better, actually none even close. This still blows me away. A shout out though should always go out to the African College that performed this kind of performance first. And of course a nod to TOTO for this song.
This is one of the most AMAZING videos I have ever seen. I have two favorites on youtube and this is "One" of them. I have shown your video all over and I will never stop being blessed by ALL of your talents!! Thank you for blessing me with my favorite song by TOTO and making it better!!
I first watched this video in the early days of youtube, I was probably 15 or 16. That was the first time I heard this song. I'm nearly 30 now, and when I hear the original song nowadays, I always do the "tootoo too too tootootoo paaaaah" thing and the beatboxer's drumming passage just before the chorus. This video is absolutely monumental and it brings memories of a simpler world. :') Long live Perpetuum Jazzile
What creation the human mind has to make such beautiful music. Thank you for inspiring my children and myself and those around me. Please continue. Please.
Don't know how many times I have watched, and listened to this video, but...I love it, even better than when TOTO does it. Seeing everyone involved, and sounding so good, is Wonderful. My hat is off to all of you who took part. Thank you.
Saudações do Brasil.
So glad I found this! Angel City Chorale did your take on this classic 80's song Africa by Toto. But no one did it better than you!!! Tears poured down my face. The heavenly vocals, all percussion being vocal based! I followed you everywhere on social media!!! Best cover ever!!!!
This is so much better than violence and war and destruction. Creativity from the heart and soul of a human being no matter who they are or where they’re from is it masterpiece. God bless and please continue.
My friend sent this to me and told me to close my eyes at the beginning of the video and not open them till the singing starts... What a nice experience! This was super cool on so may levels!! 😎 👌 💯
Felicitaciones, el efecto de la lluvia extraordinario, muy pero muy creativo, y ni hablar de la calidad de las voces y la interpretación, gran coro, felicitaciones de nuevo.....
Over 21 million views to date and over 7,000 comments. We came here today by accident after seeing another song performed. It has been here since 2009 and we didn't know. This is a masterpiece in every way and the sound quality is superb. Thanks for the sharing; best to you
