He died 7 years later at 89, so he was 82 doing this concert!!!!??? NO way! He's such a blessing to the music world. ♥♥And he sings about Jesus! ♥♥(He'd probably get cancelled for doing it these days.)
I'm glad I was born 1941 and saw him on TV and the Christmas shows then were a great joy. He was such a lovely man. I'm 82 now I still love listening to him sing. He was so handsome too.
His last Christmas concert he was 82 at that time still have a beautiful voice..Perry you are the best the greatest singer at all time you are now gone but you are still my favorite singer and entertainer miss you so much..❤😘🌹😥🙏😇
Perry Como was a complete gentleman. He loved his wife dearly When she past away he was dead a short while afterwards.Thats love for 1 woman all his life
2023 - wonderful concert every which way. Fantastic, handsome Mr. Perry again. I grew up watching his TV show. How he enriched or lives. Me Irish relatives did great here also. Thanks!
Perry makes you feel your sitting in the front seat and you just want to say...thank you Perry for all your gave us throughout the many years we have watched you on the many TV shows and the many specials...i never met you in person...but i feel i know you...and we all miss you...God you were wonderful.....
I never saw this special. Absolutely wonderful show. I'm watching it on Christmas Eve 2016. It makes me feel so happy. I feel like I'm a kid watching my old friend.
To me Perry Como was one of the best, most talented singers that we were lucky to entertain us any day but especially at Christmas time. I remember when I was a very young child when he use to have his weekly show. I miss those special days. He was a special gift from God.
What a treat perry como and Ireland Perry Bing Andy Williams Lawrence welk Christmas shows one of the joys of Christmas past now to be enjoyed on this thank you!!!! for help bringing The spirit of Christmas back
What a good man Perry Como was, he always ended his Christmas Show with the singing of the Ava Mari. RIP Mr. Como, you now sing with the Choir of Angels and Jesus is Smiling.
when he sing how lonely life has been...but life begins again the day you took my hand...but i don't let the evening get me down....now that your around me.....i can say that about my current wife...and when he sings this song....it bring tears into my eyes.....what feelings he brings out when he sings...
!johnlynch6656 Great singer, yet I had word from concertgoers years ago he was pretty cold and distant, even for those nice ladies and gents allowed to meet him. And to get into God's true graces (biblically), requires nothing less than a personal conversion to the Savior, which of course Catholicism believes is only contained in the sacraments. God bless.
One of the most touching moments in the history of music when he comes back on stage after the little drummer boy to sing And I love you so. He was feeling very bad and wasn't himself. After a long wait he came to perform the song with such a control and vitality. For a while it was 70s again. He made the crowd giving two applauds during that song because it was such a huge comeback. Watching that makes me in tears, such a heart warming moment
when i listen to Perry on this wonderful Irish Christmas i feel Perry is still with us!!! silly i know because he's gone but i feel we can be with him when we see his greatness on YOUTube Thank you!!
Oh I feel the very same. I’m watching today just a few days before Christmas. It lifts my spirits just watching his special at Christmas time. Bless him. I truly miss him.
I was fortunate to.meet him.in Knoxville I will.slwsys be thankfully for knowing him for just a short special time in my life. One of my thankfull.momrnts in my life. Thank God that we had him in our lives. ZHE made Christmas slecial.
I have this concert ......and sadly Mr C was struggling with a heavy cold and the rigours of travelling ......however the sheer class of the man can clearly be seen .....wind beneath my wings & and I love you so ......are total perfection .....genius
This show famously took 4 hours to record, with Como frequently stopping mid song as he was feeling unwell. Many audience members were also unhappy with the sound quality in the auditorium. In fairness to Perry, he apologized profusely at the end to them and expressed his gratitude at their patience.
As my comment above says, I was in the choir that night and can confirm that it took 4 hours to record. He was not at all well and he really felt he had let his fans down. Both he and Nick Perito, the musical director, were true gentleman who spoke to those of us in the choir on the same level and never looked down on us. We had some wonderful chats talking about life in LA. The famous January 1994 LA earthquake happened while they were here in Ireland rehearsing with us. I remember Mr Perito's house was completely destroyed apart from the chimney which was the only thing left standing but they were just so grateful that their friends and family were safe. So many memories that I will have for a lifetime
Perry was not feeling well when making this, also they had his music too far away from him on the stage. But Perry felt he had to do this show and so this is the result. Truly a great friend and human being, we miss you Perry. Love Jeff and Linda
I saw this a few years ago, and it's a favourite...I have Loved Perry Como all my life! What a Voice, a Legend and true gentleman with a Christian demeanor and a God given voice. I believe he had the best voice of that era. Loved all the Crooners, but he was extra special, still in my heart. Thank you! Xx
Came to this , looking for Perry como christmas album I bought my dad in early 70s , I played it as much as he did , as I loved his voice so much , am thrilled to find this and have no doubt he has never been welcomed more anywhere in the world , the Irish sure no how to throw a party , I'm sure he was blown away by the love and affection shown , rip the beautiful man that was Perry Como , singing with the angels now xx
At this time of year I especially miss Mr. Como. I just watched this and tears were flowing when he sang Ave Maria!!! I wish we had such crooners today..
I have been missing his mellow soothing voice for a while now. Thank you Mr Como for the great performances throughout the years ! I’m glad I am still around to hear this !
Pure Velvet. Pure Perry. Pure Class. Perry Como's very last Christmas Special. We sure miss you, Mr. C, and are so very grateful for all the joy you brought our world ~ especially this time of year ... wishing you Peace and utmost Love this and every Christmas ... "Til the End of Time!" Thank you so much for posting, Cost Ander!
It was Blast From The Past starring Brendan Frasier & Alicia Silverstone back in 1999 that got me into listening to Perry Como's aural art, the song was Round and Round. I'm a1st time watcher of this. Thank you. :)
My memories from childhood of his recordings and TV programs are so wonderful. There was no singer with Como's warmth, presence and taste in songs. Beyond that, he was a very good man as well--generous and kind. Try to find the clip of Jay Leno (Como's opening act for a couple of tours) reminiscing on how good Catholic nice guy Como gave Leno the money straight from his own pocket so Jay could get out of debt and marry his fiance. What a guy!
i watched his show when my parents had it on the TV, i listen as a kid to his songs on the hit parade..i never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Perry Como...but those who have said he was a gentlemen pure and true....i am sure he had his faults all of us do....but i truly have to say i love this man...and i love his music...to me He was a big shot without trying to tell the world he was a big shot...or acting like a big shot...as many famous people do....
I've only just found this video! I was in that choir behind Mr Como and can confirm it took 4 hours to record and we stood for all 4 of those hours as we had no chairs. But I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. We sang in many shows in Ireland but this was the first international show we did and working with musical director Nick Perito was an honour. It's a night I will never forget. I was 24 then and I'm 48 now and I still remember all the rehearsals as well as the show itself. Perry Como was very ill that night and lucky to get through the show and I believe sadly it was one of his last live performances.
@@xanthia9536 It was an honor to sing with him. He was an absolute gentleman through all the rehearsals and on the night of the show. Both he and the musical director, Nick Perito, treated us in the choir like we were just as important as he was to the show. It was a wonderful experience. I will never forget it. The problems of Mr Como feeling ill and the show taking so long to record pale in significance to the wonder of performing with and being conducted by men who were such giants in the world of music
He nails the middle part of And I Love You So with brilliant volume and vibrato and the crowd goes nuts with applause both times, made me cry every time. As if to say kiss my hind end the rest of you, I'll go out in glory at 81 years old. and at the end!!!! you can see the look on his face so taken by surprise by their response.
Thank you for sharing this. Perry was a big part of my family's life when I was growing up. he had an unmistakeable voice that I continue to love. My mom was a big fan and thus, so am I.
Comment: God so loved Perry He recalled him to afford His HeavenlyKingdom the rest of his concerts. Perry , know that you were and always be the favorite. Your last concert was greatest testimony.
This Christmas show reminds me of my mom she loved Perry Como and I do too he was one of a kind. I remember when this came out it was fantastic and still is
My first favourite singing star. Perry Como 1946. His first favourite song. Till the End of Time.I really went overboard with that one.Memories. T.Heslop.UK.
Como's final Christmas special was filmed in January 1994 in Dublin's Point Theatre before an audience of 4,500 people, including Irish President Mary Robinson and Como's friend, the actress Maureen O'Hara. Perry Como's Irish Christmas was a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) production, made by an Irish independent production company in association with RTÉ. Como, appearing aged and unwell, had the flu during the show which took four hours to record.[204] At the show's conclusion, Como apologized to his Dublin audience for a performance he felt was not up to his usual standards."-Wikipedia. I remember watching it on PBS. I have to agree it wasn't his best performance, and was a little painful to watch. But, I was always a fan.

He was a good friend and this was a trip he wanted to make even thou he didnt feel well at all. We thought they could have done a better editing job on this show. He was still great no matter what and we love and miss him more every single day, that goes for Nick Perito too, two musical genius' at work.
Enjoying this in the sweltering heat of an August day., Mr.C. ,you were/are a legend , a role model for us all. Missing the good old days when you used to come into our living rooms every weekend. Thanks for posting!
When Perry sings to that lovely baby...Toora Loora Loora you could hear a pin drop...the audience was just so intent on listening to Perry singing and holding that baby....
I really enjoyed this video!! I had some business in the Fall up in Pennsylvania and stopped by Canonsburg to visit Perry Como's home town. Being a fan of his, it was nice to see the nice statue of him on their main street Being Irish American, I especially loved watching his Christmas show from Dublin! Thanks for posting!
Never saw this show.I do not think it aired. As an old school TV editor I would have loved to show off my magic and save this project. Most of Mr.C's songs, arrangements already existedon previous shows. Pull the tracks and dub over. If, they had lead time ,could be done while they were taping. Audience would never know. The orchestra was playing. They heard Mr. C's voice. If any lip sync problems arise, cover up with audience shots in post.
1994 minus 1912=82 years. Quite a feat for a man of those years. He is full of enthusiasm and life in concert but unknown to us all he had only 7 years left on this earth.
I have the very much abbreviated and long out of print CD from this show...I play it every Christmas since I bought it back in the 90's. Its my favorite! I love his rendition of "Wind Beneath my Wings"...
