It's insane to think that these flowers take so much time and effort on the plant's part to make, only for it to wither and wilt away in a fraction of the time it took to grow. Truly an object of impermanent beauty.

This is the type of thing I want in my house. Just think about it... Someone walks in a goes "The heck is that?!" and I'd just be like "Oh, that's Perry the corpse flower." It could be a conversation starter, or an excuse to not host dinners. The possibilities...

Somehow, this felt like I was watching a kingdom rise to its beautiful glory, become magnificent and an inspiring and terrifying take to all, before it fell to ruin and its memory become lost to time.

That pot be coffin up some huge plants... It didn't even get a chance to re-hearse.

I'm about a 3rd into the video and I started laughing so hard. My brain connected the name of the flower and the music. This calming flowing piece of the Nutcracker, and then the Corpse flower. Also realized while typing this the name of the piece is Waltz of the Flowers.. and it's a flower... very clever

I liked the part where it grew

Woah! That is wild seeing it’s petals open and close in this time lapse. It looked like it was embracing itself or doing a theatrical dance - a butterfly emerging from its caccoon. And the climactic ending of it withering, almost collapsing in utter defeat. Wow! Better than opera!!! 🎭

Thank you so much for making this video. I can't believe how big it got. It reminds me of the film and theatre show "Little Shop of Horrors". No but seriously it was so captivating to watch. Usually I am not a fan of music but I love that piece so good job.

Often, people record videos vertically when they should be recording horizontally ( _way_ too often ). This was the reverse and definitely should’ve been recorded vertically. That aside, great video. And I’m glad we don’t have smell-o-vision yet.

Thanks to whomever thought to record the bloom cycle of this very large and amazing flower . The music was very fitting as well. !! One gripe though... l think he deserved a bit more dignified space to be filmed than what looks like a back maintenance hallway .... no one could bother to cover the pipes ? or just place it outdoors (considering the scent of a decomposing body the bloom gives off lol ) at any rate l hope he gets filmed every year 👍
