Hi Chris, thank you for your succinct description of Configurations of Self it's been really helpful for me to understand that a lot of these configurations can be congruent yet still cause conflict and need to be heard and accepted. Keep the videos coming they are a great resource!
Thank you so much for the comment and it’s always lovely to hear that it helps peoples understanding of the theory. Got some new ones up and hope to be more regular with new uploads too. Thanks for the support
Thank you so much for your videos, I'm really enjoying them. It's wonderful to find someone who truly believes in the PC approach. I would love more videos from this channel. More in-depth videos about the concepts of PC, but esp, if poss, demonstrations of actual PC therapy sessions. Either real or just demonstrated, because it would be wonderful to see an actual PC therapist (one who accepts the fundamental premise of the actualising tendency) in action. I would also love a vid specifically on the practical applications of PC in the therapeutic space. How do you reflect/summarise/mirror someone, without subtle direction/intervention/influence. What does that look like, and what does that not look like. Thanks
Thank you for your comment and suggestions about future videos. Doing an actual practice session can be quite hard due to confidentiality or getting round this by using an actor, which then compromises the idea of authenticity. My hope is to produce many more videos on deeper aspects of PC Theory. In terms of the skills that you have listed here, I suppose in PC Theory, these will be most closely linked to the use of Empathy and Acceptance, although I wouldn't say that I try to direct, intervene or influence a clients natural process. I hope that helps in some way to answer your request and I hope to produce more videos in the coming months.
If you watch my latest video, I think that will be up there with suggestions. I think it’s about time I did but please feel free to leave a comment there so I can gauge interest and sorry it’s taken me a while
Hi Chris thanks for the wonderful videos man, super helpful. Chris did you train with CPCAB? I'm looking to start my journey into counselling and just wanted the advice of a professional. Can I become fully qualified and certified by taking my courses through them? And can you suggest any books as a complete novice I can digest before signing up, Thank you again.
Thanks a lot for your comment and sorry for the VERY long delay in responding! I did some of my training with CPCAB and then moved onto a University course for my final qualification. But yes, if you train with CPCAB you will be a qualified Counsellor after completing the Level 4 Diploma. And in terms of books I would recommend, I think Person-centred Counselling in Action is a great starting point. Hope that helps and good luck on your training journey!
