It’s kinda funny that Philemon shows up at very critical points in all five games except Persona 4 where is literally relegated to just being Yu Narukami’s save point
"I are thou, Thou art I." You hear that voice in the background when Yu first sees Saki on the Midnight channel. It is right before Yu sticks his hand in the television in his room.
If there's a Persona 6 (or Persona Q3) i honestly don't want to see Philemon in person cause him being a butterfly is very interesting cause he implied that he's looking to the protagonist like a "guardian angel". To me Philemon being a butterfly is just very interesting but still if he does appear in person i wouldn't mind it anyway
I wonder if atlus will be willing to show him (human form) and the og velvet room assistants ever again, it's cool that they haven't been retconned entirely but it doesn't appear like they're willing to bring them to forefront again anytime soon.
Yeah. I’d really like to get an official reasoning as for why they virtually abandoned Philemon and the og assistants, and why the only og character they decided to keep around unchanged is Igor. It made sense with 3 what with it taking place after Eternal Punishment (so it can be assumed that Philemon is still in his weakened state. Plus he still had a significant role in that game, even if not appearing physically). But come 4 onwards and it’s just weird now. Of course he did show back up in Q2 with an actual speaking role, but that’s about it.
@@anomaly395i think they've become comfortable with the formula established in P3 now, afterall a switch to that formula was what truly begun the series' rise to stardom. Sad as it might be delegating the OGs to minor roles or roles in games most in the fanbase wouldn't even sniff in the direction of is probably all we gonna get moving forward.
I mean that didn’t stop Igor from continuing to appear in the games (he’s a character from 1 and 2 as well, remember?). I don’t see why it would be any different for the others. They could’ve just as easily transitioned.
@@anomaly395one figurehead vs 5 of them is a different story, they probably figured only one of them needs to remain to give the series a constant face throughout it's evolution while the rest can be set aside as footnotes for the inquisitive.
Is there some explanation to why Philemon doesn't appear in his human form in P3, 4 and 5? It's so strange to see him being just a random butterfly in the neosona games. Is there a reason or nah? It's rather curious. The other Velvet Assistants doesn't appear too (like Nameless, Beladonna and the self insert of Kaneko).
It’s implied in Eternal Punishment that after rewriting reality in Innocent Sin his power began to drain to the point where he couldn’t maintain his human form (as indicated by his blinking in and out and only being able to appear as a butterfly for most of the game). So my guess is that through 3-5 he just hasn’t regained that power yet and thus is now stuck entirely in his butterfly form. Unless you’re referring to an out-of-universe, official-statement-from-Atlus kind of reason then I don’t know.
Oh. Well in that case, they haven’t commented on it. They mentioned a long time ago that they all still exist in 3-5 (both Philemon and the assistants), but that’s about it. There haven’t been any further elaborations since.
@@ayeheh3204 I’m saying he *was* golden during Persona 1 and 2 but became blue by Persona 3. In Persona 5 specifically it’s Lavenza. He only appeared golden again in Persona Q2.
In p4 igors no where to found hmm i think hes reporting to his master which is philemon and imagined hes complaining that why the velvet room so small and hard to move unlike the previews one or the first and second and ithink he will ask what hes other comrades doing and philemon said how about a cell or prison 😂
Does it mean p1 and p2 mc are stronger than p3-p5 mc because theyre the only person they find and talk to philemon he said you found me?? And p1 mc persona was from philemon itself unlike other mcs they find igor and his attendants which is philemon servants 😂 we need a proper remake of this game and he need to returned in persona 6 not a butterfly ofc but philemon itself
I think it just has to do with Philemon being weakened throughout 3-5, so he can’t talk to them in his human form like he did in the past. He still watches over all of them and managed to directly speak to Joker in Q2. Also I read from another comment that all Personas are technically from Philemon. It’s just that in 3-5 since they don’t meet with him they forcibly take their Personas from him (in a sense) using different extraction methods as opposed to Persona 1 and 2 where he gave it to the cast directly.
