Finished up Chie’s story with that being the first I’ve finished and wanted to highlight this interact between my favourite characters in 3 and 4 respectively. It’s kinda wholesome to watch.
Although I’m not sure what to think about Akihiko’s character portrayal in this game given his arc in 3 maybe something happened in the Answer that I’m not aware of since I haven’t watched anything from it besides its OST.

Funny how Mitsuru already forgot about her zero tolerance on sexism in the original game where she chastised Junpei who protested FeMC as SEES leader and dealing with her sleazy ex-fiancé scumbag in her Social Link. Seriously, these writers of Persona 4 Arena and Persona Q really sucked at writing character developments. 😑

I loved that line lol. Also imo you might wanna play the Answer or watch a supercut of it like I did before you continue P4A-the Answer’s impact is quite significant on the P3 cast and ((no spoilers)) you’ll be quite confused at some parts of P4A/P4AU if you haven’t played it because of that. I’d highly recommend watching a supercut imo, gameplay wise it’s definitely flawed but the story is awesome. Some people aren’t fans but I love it

Leaving this here as an update on viewing the answer. I watched through it from this: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FOK0ZGRH9kY.html&pp=ygUUcGVyc29uYSAzIHRoZSBhbnN3ZXI%3D Sadly I didn’t like the content but hopefully it helps to clear up some context I was missing for some of the 4A stories. At least I now understand why Yukari has the reputation she does.

@@phoney4258 aw im sorry to hear that you weren’t a fan, but I’m glad you watched it! It’ll definitely clear up some confusion later on. Enjoy the rest of 4A! Alright, rant time, feel free to read or don’t! I definitely have issues with the Answer but I like its conflict. A lot of people harp on it for being “forced inter-group conflict” but I don’t think it’s forced at all. All of the members of SEES grieve in different ways, and that manifests itself when they have to make a choice about going forward into the future or back into the past. It’s really cool to see Yukari trying so hard to move on and then crumble when she realizes that she *might* be able to save Makoto. Moving on was a façade; she was still miserable, but she had no choice but to move forward until an opportunity to move backward presents itself. It’s frustrating to watch, but also very compelling and relatable. We can’t say that we wouldn’t do the same, break down and be illogical, when faced with something so horrible as the death of a loved one. Akihiko is more mature, and he knows that Makoto’s sacrifice was necessary and wouldn’t undo it, but in that maturity he comes off as harsh and uncaring when Yukari breaks. My main issue with the Answer’s story is that some members of SEES don’t get much visible characterization beyond “let’s just move on.” Some like Akihiko do get more characterization in their grief, but it’s often hidden in optional non-voiced dialogue instead of being an active part of the story. Akihiko (and Ken, too, to a lesser extent) in voiced dialogue talk about how they wouldn’t change their pasts, how they need to focus on the future, so on and so forth. But in talking to him in the dorm, Akihiko elaborates when he says that he cherishes the time he spent with MC and that undoing what he did would be disrespectful to his sacrifice. Which is just… so much better. It makes him feel like a human, where his argument in voiced dialogue makes him seem almost robotic in how unempathetic he is. If they folded that kind of dialogue into the main story and elaborated on the grief of those who don’t get much attention like Fuuka or Junpei, then it’d feel a lot more fleshed-out and realistic. If The Answer was briefer (or at least more fun from a gameplay perspective) and kept the focus on SEES in relation to Makoto’s death it’d be much better. As it is, it’s long, drawn-out and the story is good but handicaps itself by only giving like 2 or 3 members of SEES anything beyond a couple of decent flashbacks. I hope it returns as DLC and is reworked into something more digestible, because the bones of something truly great are there but as it stands it’s just ‘pretty good,’ at least in my book. TLDR; good, but flawed and could be so much better.

@@phoney4258 Yukari’s rep doesn’t just come from the answer. It comes from her behavior overall, and includes stuff like her getting angry at the player for touching her after she almost got sexually assaulted and getting upset over the news about her dad’s “part” in the shadow incident. Ppl just don’t like women in grief going through the anger stage (and I say this specifically cus Akihiko is hella aggressive in the answer but he is given the pass).

@@ma.2089 Yeah that seems to be a pattern in the Persona community, most people absolutely hate characters that are written like real people.

@@thegamerfe8751 I deeply hate Yukari, and I barely know people like her in real life and I never played The Answer. The kind of people who says "you idiot" to someone going to the moon to sacrifice himself to save the world isn't going to be a likeable character. And even if she were realistic, art isn't about showing stuff as realistic as possible: it's about showing the most exciting and beautifuñ things in life. You need to remove the nasty stuff from it (such as Yukari's anger issues.)
