I'd say in the original PS2 version Makoto too was a cool laid-back guy. Him exploring the city and never taking his hands from his pants felt so chill.
Tatsuya: Just really awkward and quiet, gay panic incarnate. Maya: Hilarious and sweet, kind of a dork but her heart is in the right place regardless of how hurt she is by the world. Naoya: Extremely awkward and actually a sadist. Has some heavy issues
Between this and Persona 5's anime? Chances are, they just took the script of the games' stories, and told the vas to firstly have fun and then secondly follow the story in some way. Chances are it's just a convenient way the anime staff made to allow the vas to bond and become friends over if they haven't already
@@megax241 No, he wasn't. You can clearly see a red dot on the button his thumb is resting on, which is the universal sign for recording. It also fits with a comment made by Yu earlier where he asks Yosuke if he "wants a copy", implying he always recorded the shows on the midnight channel.
@@shelbybayer200 okay, but like… the dub actually saved it somewhat? Like they all had so much fun with it and Max Mittelman even improvised a “yeet” into once of the scenes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still trash, but it’s like… recyclable trash thanks to the dub
There are some in the game Specifically Yu's dialogue being Directly linked with the more Funny options When he got bit by Teddie at one point you can choose "I think I might Cry" In the anime this dialogue option goes into....... "I might be dying..........." Followed by Chie saying "No you're not" 😑
In game so many of the jokes and situation are sexual, super low hanging fruit. The anime is way funnier. Even just the anime style makes up for a lot of these stupid jokes, the way I’ll face myself unironically Starts playing when Kanji’s Shadow appears and half the party just wants to kill him and get it over with it’s so funny. Also the galactic punt for “ I don’t want to be the comic relief!” It’s hilarious(especially considering how gross the situation is frankly).

They took the player insert character and turned him into the beautiful weirdo and one of the series’ funniest characters. It’s so good, there’s a reason he’s rarely called “protagonist” over Yu and I think this series had a lot to do with that. The dub does a good job of accentuating his charismatic weirdness lol.
The use of the Persona 3 soundtrack while on a trip to Tatsumi Port Island was the best thing about that episode. And the closest we got to a P3 anime until the P3 movies came out, lol

I'm convinced that if the Aiya delivery girl was an Investigation Team member, They would be the fastest and most efficient persona user team in the series because they would've found the killer and the final boss in seconds, she's just too powerful

I just love how whoever localized the script of this anime clearly did not care of beating around the bush, in the game Chie and Yosuke only told kanji he looked "strange" next to Naoto, but in the anime they straight up told him he's Gay.

Any time I hear the English dub of Yu, some part of me thinks “in another life, this man was a power ranger”, and that somehow makes perfect sense in universe.

If anybody is curious, the highlighted line in the book Narukami is reading at 10:00 says 「そんなこと言ったってどうせ笑われるだけだよ」which means something like "If I said something like that I'll just get laughed at."
@Ryka I haven't watched persona 5 anime but playing the game I would think it would be less about friendship and more about heist plan and twist and turns, like in my head focusing just how smart and calculating the group and team leader are could get great result (bonus if you use some of James bond kind of music) Long story short less funny and more plot focused would help imo
The Persona 4 Anime and the Golden Edition were just excellent. They not only expanded upon Yu's character but they also added in extra comedy, addressed the social links and brought something new to enjoy that you didn't see in the video game. That is how you do an adaptation so it's familiar but you also get something unique so it can slightly separate itself form the video game.
AGREE, tbh P4 probably in my opinion have a lot of the best Spin-off and well as a fan I love the balance of Slice of life and the dark moments in it! People say it's not the best cause it ain't dark like the rest but for me it equally is but it just lao knows how to execute the good moments really well! GO P4 (The Cast and the social links are really good too) so as the ost, can't forget that
@@himasekiwari155 Persona 4 is more light hearted but it's still dark due to the murder that happens. The fact that Persona 4's popularity lasted 10 years with spin offs and more is a testament to how good it is.
I have to say the anime really improves Chie's character a ton. I didn't dislike her or anything in the game but the anime made me like her a ton more. She's hilarious and adorable.
What i like about the anime is it makes Yosuke less of a perv and more of the guy who just says out of pocket shit for a reaction (he still is one, very fitting of a teen boy) but his laugh at 5:18 makes him seem less malicious and more of a teasing friend
P4 animation added so much fun and interesting stuff to the scenes. Whereas with p5 it just seems they by the books did exactly what was on screen in the games.
The Persona series is the only series I love whether its in Japanese or English, in games or in animes... But I wished P5 the Animation was great as P4 the Animation, even P4 the Golden Animation was better

When I first got into Persona 4 I started with the P4G Golden game on the PS Vita. Than from there I went straight to the Persona 4 Anime. And I laughed so hard at how Hilarious this Anime is. I got me my friend into Anime. And he couldn't stop laughing at how good and funny Persona 4 is. I have such fond memories of this series. I can't stop bragging about how hilarious P4 is. Good times I had with this Anime and the video games.
I normally play and consume things in their native language but I think Persona 4 and it's anime are best in English. The voice cast is amazing aside from Yukiko's " THE ENEMY IS DOWN WE MUST STRIKE. "
