Hate to play devils advocate against this comment that I'd love to be true, but can we be sure that's what he wished for? Like doesn't Maruki just *assume* what the people wish for?
@@dhans9662 i get why you'd think that but even in the official artbook it's heavily implied that those are in fact their true wishes by confirming that Akechi's wish was shown in that ending (playing Chess with Joker every day). It would make no sense to state that if it was just Maruki's assumption (they make this clear by joking about how it shows that Akechi actually likes the protagonist lol).
@Queen_Of_Discord *To be fair* 😂 Joker & Phoenix: Well meaning guys with a heart of gold, a dash of sass, and sometimes dumb of ass Akechi & Miles: Serious inquisitive guys who tolerate no bullshit except from a select few, also have a dash of sass, and lots of ✨️fatherly angst✨️ that sent them down a road to hell (with the previous person bringing them sorta back from it). @@PatKerleyVA Like don't get me wrong.... He needs to atone for what he did. That.... that can't slide. Probably a few dozen people dead at his hands. But..... like.... Almost each and every one of the Phantom Thieves could have *easily* turned just as murderous as him. Ryuji has anger issues. Back him into a corner enough, he might lash out in desperation. Imagine if Mona and Joker and Ann hadn't been around to temper his anger towards Kamoshida, and he had Metaverse powers. Ann came *inches* from killing Kamoshida, even with the others around to help her temper it. She could have easily slipped down a darker road. Yusuke openly admits that, had the PT not found him, and had he discovered the Metaverse on his own, he probably would have become similar to Akechi. Makoto felt completely powerless in her life before the Metaverse. Imagine how powerful she felt the first time she destroyed a Shadow. Now imagine how she'd have felt if she had choked the life out of Kaneshiro's Shadow. Futaba has a *wealth* of knowledge about cognitive psience theory from her mother's work. Imagine if she'd really started applying that in more direct ways to influence people's cognitions from the inside. Haru *clearly* has underlying anger and rage that she only very tentatively taps into. Imagine if there was nobody around for her to appear proper to. Imagine her going full 'beast mode' through a Palace. And don't even get me started on Joker. Mona is perhaps the only one who couldn't have fallen, because Mona was *created* not to do so.
@@plgrn8r683 The real difference that separates Akechi from Joker is he had *no one*... They are both exceptional Persona users but Akechi had no one. That too me is the saddest part about his character. Although the P5 Animation falls short on many things it does really well with developing Akechi's character. If under some miracle they met a bit sooner I'm sure Akechi would have went down a brighter path.
I was in tears when I play this part making the hardest decisions to either lose Goro again or accept the reality that doc made (I chose to reject the reality and send one last letter to Goro before he was gone for good. )
@@rebekahwolkiewicz449 ya he did and idk y u would think he didn't unless u only played a tiny bit of the 3rd semester from Royal. Yes he's a horrible, sick and twisted person, arguably worse then his own father. No denying that. But despite all of that he literally gives his life helping the Phantom Thieves. That proves that there is some good in him. His crimes can't b undone but him as a person can be in part redeemed and in sacrificing himself not only does he in part redeem himself but also it can be seen as him choosing to pay for his crimes with his life. He knew there was no true redemption, he couldn't just become a good guy, so instead he choose to go out with a bang.
@@rebekahwolkiewicz449 worse than his father? Sometimes the people are really stupid. Shido is the great bastard of all that game while akechi yea he kill many people but i sympathize with him because i understand what "having nothing" means.
if i had to ding you for one thing, i'd say slow down a bit, take advantage of pauses so that the emotion has more time to sink in your actual voicing is decent though
Thanks for the feedback man, really apricate it! Looking over it there now that you mentioned the pacing, I can see an area or two that could have given a bit more time to breath with a pause!
Don’t ship these two at ALL. But this was a well done wholesome comic. Goes to show people care about Akechi more than he does himself. Any care he chalks up to pity and pisses him off. He’ll never understand. He essentially became his father.
I don't think he became his father, his lofty goal was to destroy his father and get revenge. His whole narrative is about giving into hate and in turn letting it consume his very being. Shido is more of a control freak wanting as much power as possible, he has more of a superiority complex.
@@PatKerleyVA Akechi became a killer, like his father, a manipulative, people-using, backstabbing liar… he may not be the stamped out version but he let his revenge fantasy allow him to basically become another version of him…
Ok in that sense yes, he became a killer just like his father, though I believe the motives behind the two for why they do what the do is what makes them different! Heck, Akechi is basically a foil for the phantom thieves, showing what the could of become if they had given into there own rage, they even have a chat about it at one point. I believe it's not as clear cut as saying he became like his father, though I could be wrong, it's not like we know a whole lot of shido's reasoning for doing what he is doing

Don't get me wrong Akechi is an awful human being! But you have to take in his circumstances, he obviously loved his mother, even with them being on the bottom of society, and when she went, all he had was hate for his father who abandoned them. In his eyes shido is the one that caused his mother's death by never being there and leaving her with a child that she she struggled to make ends meat for both of them. Akechi didn't have a good upbringing when you think about it, and then all of a sudden he was all alone and he comes across a power that allows him to take revenge on shido for the one person he loved, his mother. Also Akechi is a bit on the insane side so that probably didn't help him make rational choices. Shido on the other hand is a man who seems to be born with a sliver spoon up his ass. He's killing for power and control, believe he is the only one destined to lead Japan. So while both killers, it's for vastly different reasons the do be, so I don't think it makes him become his father! I think lumping the both together simply on the principal of being killers is just a little shallow
