In my case i had to plug the phone into my computer and move the mp3 to a folder that is named Ringtones, same method also works for alarms and alerts in my phone. Try giving that a go!

@@KawaiiKatieOjouOtakuSensei if you didn't find out yet, I have a Samsung too and what I do is go in the settings and click on Sound Then if you scroll down a little bit there is the name of your actual ringtone so you just have to click on it to change it with what you want.
