Taking on Lavenza with only three party members, tried solo... didn't work out so well. It might not be possible as far as I know, but I'm an optimist, so I'll keep trying.Difficulty: Normal

Love this trio. The Phantom Theives Leader, his previous enemy and now sworn rival, and the girl who essentially triggered Maruki's sincere but twisted desire all working together. I always imagined the Theives being in awe of Joker's ability to make allies.

Luke Parker I think that they should have had more time to work with only the three of them. Like having them complete Maruki’s Palace up to the point where they have to go to Mementos, turning back and only then running into Maruki. It would have also given Akechi more time to act as a Navigator, his lines are quite entertaining.

Well, first phase isn’t really hard if you have either Izanagi-no-Okami or strong elemental personas. Really, all you have to do is match her attack element with an opposing one, and she will take a lot of damage. The hard one is the crit stage, because she kills you if you can’t land a critical hit on your turn. And crits are too random for my liking, seeing as on merciless Lavenza didn’t get critted by a maxed out Yoshitsune with apt pupil and Brave Step active. Both Noir and Violet didn’t land crits after that, and Lavenza with a disappointed expression finished everyone off.

@@vladimircaelum7465 Looking back, yeah the first phases are pretty easy if you can maintain debilitate and ailment + Myriad. I went in the first few times thinking I could cheese it like the Twins, so I didn't have InO or any strong offensive magic personas basically under prepared as hell; so I received the business end of an all out attack quite a few times and Lavenza going "I'm not mad, just disappointed."

@@vladimircaelum7465 your mistake was using Yoshitsune. You're meant to use Sword Dance or One Shot Kill (which have innate high crit) as well as Brave Step / Revolution and obviously Apt Pupil. Tecnically with those 3 on joker and either Kasumi or Haru (or both) in your party, you should be getting that one crit per turn, and should only take 2 turns to transition to her last phase. She's definitely beatable without resorting to the broken DLC persona as well :P She's kinda like other SMT bosses that are 99% preparation 1% execution

It's actually possible to solo Lavenza. I've seen some Japanese players soloed her. EDIT: Though I've yet to see anyone solo her WITHOUT using Izanagi-no-Okami. EDIT 2: Now there are people who have soloed her without INO but it's still really hard as the fight is RNG heavy. Still possible though.

Mikura I think that’s impossible without Izanagi-no-Okami, at least on Merciless. On the stages where you have to land technicals and critical hits, you either have to land them every turn or damage her enough to get to the next stage. And on Merciless only Izanagi-no-Okami can do that kind of damage. And landing a technical in a solo battle is impossible, since Lavenza always recovers from ailments on her turn.

Mikura I see in the comments that it’s actually possible to pass those stages with Dream Needle skill if it lands both crit and sleep. And that means a lot of RNG. So yeah, it’s probably not impossible that way, but really annoying to do. Then comes the part about the damage, because when I fought Lavenza my party members kept Joker charged and concentrated with Ring of Pride and Ring of Greed, and Haru kept using her shield skill so that Lavenza would waste a turn breaking it. The problem with solo is that Lavenza will still have two turns in a row with her usually using one of them for Dekunda or Dekaja, and that means you can’t buff or debuff at all, and that’s a huge drop in damage. Moreover, you can’t baton pass solo, so that’s another drop in damage. Take note that debuffs can be lethal to you because if it’s sleep or dizzy she will finish you off right there and then. ...Yeah, I’m not doing that. At least on merciless. Maybe I’ll try on easy sometime.

Honestly it gets even worse because if you don’t reduce Lavenza’s HP by a certain threshold within around 7-9ish turns, she’ll AOA (I theorize this happened because the amount of turns she takes before she does it is dependent on your level (I was level 99 during this) because despite doing at least 5000 damage in phase 1 she still did it; either that or she’s bugged for me), which is why downing her is a big part of the fight; that extra turn *can* help I tried doing Maruki on Merciless and a similar thing happens where, if you take too long to do any noticeable damage to him (on phase 2), he’ll spam a Megidolaon that does 1000+ damage So tbh Merciless solos on any of the endgame bosses that isn’t done using InO sound kinda...impossible to do

To beat Lavenza, these are the things you must know: First phase: Deal 5000 damage before 9 turns Second phase: Land a technical hit every turn and deal 5000 damage before 9 turns (Lavenza is open for affinities) Third phase: Each turn must have a critical hit. Sumire is basically crucial for this part of the fight. Also, deal 5000 before 9 turns Fourth and final phase: Defeat Lavenza

Just gonna leave my strategy here for anyone who might find it useful: Phase 1 is fairly easy. Just use your best attacks until you meet the damage requirement. Personally, I like to let Joker concentrate, go for a crit with Kasumi/Haru and baton pass back to Joker for a big damage boost. All you need in phase 2 are a bunch of Sleep Capsule S', which Jose sells for 40 flowers each, plus some spare ammo since as far as I know, none of the personas she uses during that phase resist Gun damage at all. Should pretty much garuntee a technical hit per turn. After getting the technical, baton pass back to Joker and just continue the pattern. For phase 3, Kasumi is basically a must. Haru is a good option here too (Especially with the Black Moon R accessory equipped for the Apt Pupil passive), and if you REALLY want to be thorough, you can bring in Morgana with Miracle Punch/Rush for one more chance to crit if Kasumi and Haru fail. Again, baton pass to joker after knocking her down, rinse and repeat. Phase 4 is the easiest in my opinion due to the lack of time restrictions. Just keep dishing out damage, take breaks to heal and buff/debuff if needed and hope you pull through.

Phase 1: Just learn how to deal with enemy affinities Phase 2: Figure out that she’s vulnerable to status ailments and spam technical damage or die instantly Phase 3: Get lucky to crit on every turn, so always bring haru, sumire, and yuske or die instantly Phase 4: Play it like you were fighting Jose and be prepared for the super attack

It's definitely possible to solo lavenza but it takes a bit of rng in the 2nd phase cause you need to be lucky enough to get a crit with dream needle AND make lavenza sleep. I've seen some japanese videos that solo her on merciless/challenge

For your experimenting with the solo attempts, try a skill that can crit and cause an ailment at the same time (like Dream Needle). It’s possible to cause both at the same time, so with the right luck the second phase should be possible solo.

I always see Joker, Crow, and Violet as 'The Three Legendary Tricksters.' I could call it 'The Three Legendary Wild Cards' but that name only for Joker, Yu, and Minato. I mean sure Violet may not be a Wild Cards users but after seeing the first and second persona it looks like she only has two Persona. Cendrillon - The Persona that represents Kasumi, and Vanadis - The Persona that represents Sumire.

I have a question if anyone can answer it. With the trait Will Of The Sword does it just change the effect of Charge and Concentrate from 2.5x to 3x or does it multiply 2.5x by 3 to 7.5x?

I was able to beat her without using izangai no-okami It was hard but the only dlc persona I used was raoul I used his phantom show ability and he had one shot kill with apt pupil and other gun amps so it was easy to get through the last two phases of lavenza and sumiré definitely came in clutch with her criticals

I assume that she automatically recovers from ailments the moment its her turn, making the second phase impossible solo and the amount of luck involved for the third probably isn't worth the stress which sucks. Even a duo fight might be stretching it, I got wiped several times because of bad luck with crits on the third phase even with 4 members and upped crit rates. Doing these in duos is going to be fun. Good fight and video as always.

I should also note I was doing this fight on merciless without heavily prepping for the fight so I had to do stuff on the fly lol. Fun boss fight to work around, just a shame it can't be solo'd.

There is one possibility where you critical with a physical or gun skill that can apply statuses like sleep, I'm not sure if landing the critical denys the status ailment I'd have to do some research into that. If abilities along similar veins of Dream Needle (I think thats what its called, gun skill that has a chance of sleeping) can critical and apply sleep at the same time it may be possible to deal technical damage off of the 1 more, but that would require some crazy consistent luck and you'd have to power through into the next phase before you get unlucky if true needing the OP Myriad Truths which I don't have.

Equip yourself with Level 99 Maria with Enduring Soul and Holy Benevolence before Lavenza summons Lucifer. Or alternatively, get your compendium up to 100% so that Izanagi no Okami with all 99 max stats can use his Country Maker to its full potential.
