Sat here at 04:20am on a Sunday STILL trying to prepare for potential future interviews despite years of rejection and failure. I TRULY hope to be in paid and permanent employment by the end of Autumn 2019. I have been to over 75 unsuccessful interviews, including for apprenticeships, and have done hours of unpaid interview and job research but for what? Clearly I haven't given up yet but my patience is running out!

Oh i can really relate and I am glad you haven't given up. Whenever I get rejected my mindset is to say " God is making room for a better and more suitable job" . Also, I will always reflect on the feedback on and work on it for the next interview.

Hi, to get over 75 interviews is an achievement in itself. Appreciate that you’re not happy about this at the moment but it clearly shows you have the tenacity and cv to get yourself into interview situations. So potentially there’s no need to reinvent this element of your job hunting approach. Einsteins definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome” so it’s probably worth giving some consideration and review over the interview process. Is there anything you could do differently, any recurring feedback (appreciate that employers are often not great at giving feedback), have you got a friend or relative that could give you some unbiased feedback. Try and think outside the box from what you’ve done to date. If you get anxious beforehand think of ways that might settle your nerves. Doing some exercise beforehand to release endorphins, reading a book to take your mind off of the interview, etc. There are professional coaches out there that specialise in interview coaching. Perhaps doing some further research into them could help. In our cv article we talk about job hunting being a numbers game with some people being lucky and succeeding straight away whilst others take longer to find success. Stay positive as you’re another day closer to finding the right fit for you. Hope this helps, CI Team

@@rascal342 hoping she did. I've been permanent job hunting over a yr myself. Been temping all through. I've gotten good reviews from every company I have temped at, even been recommended quite a few times, but somehow last minute they choose someone else. It is extremely frustrating but all we can do is stay positive and keep pushing on

I love how calm she makes the job sound. Im sitting here trying to take notes. Quite nervous for my up coming phone call about a position for a PA position. I know myself that Im a calm person though very challenging dealing with a IRATE people. Though I just want to go with flow and not stress soo much .. I'll give it a try.

What type of degree do I need to become a executive or personal assistant
@careerinsights2430
@careerinsights2430 2 года назад
Hello, you don’t necessarily need to undertake a degree. Jemma attended Quest Professional and took their “Executive PA Programme”. I’m sure there are other similar options out there too.

@@nattymulugeta8411 actually I sound like someone who’s going to employ one of these young ladies someday and help keep the industry going. Did you forget that being an employer is a thing that people do?

Hi Jeremiah, Hopefully when that day comes for you, you’ll have gained some experience / wisdom and be more conscientious with your choice of words. “Young ladies” can definitely be perceived as derogatory regardless of whether you meant it or not. I’m a big believer in taking accountability in life, if your comment was meant out of positivity and people have not taken it that way. It’s better to acknowledge how that could have happened and explain your way out of that situation i.e. you meant it this way but upon reflection I can see why it’s been misinterpreted. If you hope to have a PA one day or manage anyone this is a skill you’ll have to develop. It’s better to have people who work “with you” rather than “for you”. People who work with you will stick around a lot longer than people that work for you. Depending on where you are in your career this might not make sense yet but using words like “have one” is a good example of how you subconsciously view employees. Sounds a lot better if you said I hope to one day be in the position to work with a PA as I think they’re invaluable.
