Sorry for such a strange comment under an asmr video, but maybe smb can help me with a thing. I'm studying English and there were rules about using all of these another / other / the other words. And as I understood, in case if we have only 2 objects, we should say THE OTHER for the second one. Like the other hand (if we have two ones). However, here Rebecca doesn't use the and says just OTHER hand, other side. My question is: is that ok to do so? Maybe I got the rules wrong or native speakers don't care that much about rules. I'd be very happy if you help me, please 🙏🏻
You got the rules right. Spoken English can be very sloppy and that's normal. When she says "ok and other hand", your English tutor would expect you (you specifically, as a student) to say something like "Okay! I'm done with this hand, now I'll do the other hand." However, if she had said it that way it would sound weird, especially if she said it that way every time she switched hands. I'm a native speaker, but not a language expert. If I had to guess why 'ok and other hand' sounds better here, I would say it's because the timing of the spoken words matches up better with her actions, whereas if she said the full sentence I gave, she would have to wait until she finished the sentence before switching hands. If she said the full sentence *every* time she switched hands, it would feel like she's explaining the process to a child.
