Hi Roxanna, This is an amazing video! Love it! You just opened my eyes to something. I am a widow and I hate eating alone. So I've been eating in front of the TV. Never really thought about it but now it opened my eyes to how bad this is. I just watch the TV and do not seem to really enjoy the meal I just made for myself. This is going to change starting tomorrow. I am going to take out some pretty dishes, set my table for myself, turn on music on the You Tube TV, they have some nice stations, then I'll sit in my pretty dining room and have my meals. So tomorrow the winter curtains are coming down in my dining room, the blueberry dishes and curtains are going up. I am going to learn to enjoy music with my meal and my pretty dishes and table. Thank you! You are what I need in my life. I got my new cutting boards that you have, tonight I washed them, tomorrow I'll oil them, then they will be ready to use. It will remind me of you and your beautiful meals. Thank you for changing this old lady's life. Love you!

@@aquaintlife Yes things are improving for the better here!!!! Yay! I've been working all day on cleaning downstairs, doing windows, cabinets, in the dining room and kitchen, etc. I have not taken out the pretty dishes yet BUT Roxanne, the news has not been on at all today and it is just wonderful. My mind feels better. I am giving these two rooms a good cleaning from the ceiling to the floor. Then I can really enjoy this space. My Spring cleaning will be done in these two rooms. Lots more to go but I am looking forward to pulling out some of my "pretty" dishes. I have thought about you all day. You make a difference in people's lives! Especially mine! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Paris is such a lucky girl to learn so much from you. Have a wonderful evening.

Hello Roxanna. You are so right, particularly in relation to how easy it is to be dragged down by the sorrows of the world and the malign influence of many aspects of social media. While we all need to be aware of what's happening and to do what we can, in however small a way, to alleviate the suffering around us, it's so important to create a peaceful home for ourselves and our family. If we are fortunate enough to have a place to call home, we should do whatever we can to make it a place of beauty and joy. Your content helps us to do that. xx

I'm glad you opened up about this. My mom never taught us anything about homemaking, how to cook and how to clean. My mom didn't create a home, it was always a negative atmosphere. So when I became a mom I knew that I wanted to create a home. I have been struggling because I am just now learning how to do things. And I do wish I was taught these skills when I was young. Maybe I would be better at them and I wouldn't struggle as much. It is so important to teach kids these skills. How to cook, clean and overall homemaking. It is something that my mom didn't want us to learn because she wanted us to become wealthy enough to pay someone else to do it. I don't think people realize that it's such an important skill to have.

I wasn’t taught myself and we had a similar experience with our mother too so I can completely relate. I am not sure how old you are but it sounds like you might be fairly new to it and I will say, hang in there. It will get easier as you go and learn your own way of doing things. Every effort you make matters and it will one day equate to the lady your becoming. They are important skills for sure. Thank you for watching! 😊

I went through this as well. My late mom was miserable being a homemaker. I wanted to avoid being a homemaker. I also avoided marriage because I associated it with being miserable. Advice: If you're new to homemaking, don't worry. No one knows what they are doing right off the bat. Especially if you didn't have a positive homemaker growing up. Just keep searching RU-vid, Pinterest, and/or Instagram. If you are new to cooking, use the above links. And yes, be conscious about what you have on your phone or TV playing. I enjoy listening to music like Elvis. Or what I grew up with. I may go out into the left field with Spotify with a pre-constructed playlist inspired by cuisine or event.

Great advice and so true.I didn’t know a thing but it was fun learning and still is. We’re lucky that today we have so many outlets to learn from other women. And Elvis! Love it! I listen to Django Reinhardt and Otis Redding station on Alexa. I might have to add Elvis.

I even set a proper table with cloth napkins folded like a tree for Christmas or any season. Crystal. Glasses, ironstone dishes even if it’s just you makes it special. I think in such a stressful world we need a peaceful home more than ever.

My best friend’s mom growing up was a wonderful homemaker, and I think of her often while I am in my own home. I knew I wanted to be a SAHM, but didn’t intend to stay a homemaker as my life long career, but unexpected disability made staying at home a necessity. After some grief and anger, I embraced being a homemaker. Now I absolutely LOVE it. I love learning how to cook and garden and baking things for my family. I love waking up every single day. I am economically dependent on my partner, but he is so supportive and makes it easy. I also love that I was able to stay home with my kids for their entire childhood and now into young adulthood. Being a homemaker is an honorable calling, though I don’t believe it is the only path. ❤

Good morning Roxanna! I absolutely loved this video! Thank you so much for your candidness when speaking about your upbringing. My Mom was a homemaker for most of my growing up years, and only decided to work outside of the home when my siblings and I became teenagers. I learned a lot from her! My home is my sanctuary, and I love everything that has to do with homemaking! It brings me so much joy! I also incorporate all of those little enhancements that you mentioned, and it really makes me feel like I am living a luxurious life, but in a very frugal way! Have a wonderful weekend, and we'll see you next week!
