At the age of about 11 she auditioned on a show for disadvantaged children and sang/yodeled. It is called 'Jodel Time'...really extraordinary...the audience absolutely loved her but the judges didn't turn their chairs around, even though they were obviously fascinated by her voice. They asked her to sing something else and she sang a French song acapella...but she was not chosen. What did she do? As the audience cheered her, she went up and gave the judges a hug! Completely captivating performer, even at the age of 11! I'd say watch her do Elvis' 'Can't Help Falling in Love' (fantastic -- she makes it an entirely new song). And also you could do 'Wicked Game' and 'Rechenka' both at the age of about 15 in singing contests... utterly spectacular voice! Also she sings a beautiful and uplifting 'Into the Sky!' Enjoyed your comments on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on RU-vid. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of RU-vid 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing, transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation. Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic. оригинал и другие каверы больше упирают на ритм и когда есть визуал смотрятся они замечательно. но вот смотря живые выступления на концертах, ловишь себя на мысли что как то это бледно выглядит. зато версию дианы можно смотреть наслаждаясь не только ритмом и энергией песни, но и ее голосом.))

It was probably me who suggested it. This was the singer's choice category, so this was the one song she got to choose herself for this show. She tends to have a lot of control on the arrangements and has described herself as a bit of a goat due to how stubborn she is with various details on songs. I don't know if it was RU-vid or the sound engineer fell asleep during this performance, but she's a bit far back in the mix. There's a live radio set she did with three of her original songs and two covers, one of which was this song. Her voice is much more forward in the mix on that one. It wasn't out yet or I would have suggested that one.

Ok you two, there is no argument of course since music is so subjective, so lets move on to the next Diana song, one you don't know, one that might be the most enjoyable of this project. Crow. Comparable to Rechenka in its vibe. Did you know there are white Crows (and Ravens)? Notice what happens to Diana at the end of the song. It's very subtle and just shows how pathetic and out of touch the camera crew/editor was in the video, but if you're attentive you'll see what I mean. Vorona.

I agree with you G. I have always connected with DM for the darker elements, especially PJ, Blasphemous Rumours, Master and Servant, Little 15 etc. I love Diana’s voice but this one didn’t work for me… Johnny Cash’s cover didn’t work for me either.
