I don’t know if I would say Peabody and Atlas are specifically made to be feminine and masculine, but are rather just made from a turret and a personality core
I was reading some of the wiki, and all it says is that P-Body was just designed to be a tad be more feminine compared to Atlas according to this "P-body is an orange eyed Core with a design similar to that of a Turret, and is portrayed to have somewhat less masculinity than in Atlas - if not a hint femininity." So far, from what I've seen from watching the trailers and playing the multiplayer, I'd say Atlas and P-Body have a brotherly relationship.
@@brother_leonardous7950 from what I saw, a designer outright states P-body and Atlas was meant to have feminine and masculine design respectively. Theyre probably the second and third designs to be humanized this way.
There is also a friendly core, known as Frank. There’s a deception core, and a business core. And one more core which name’s I do not know. These cored are from Aperture Hand Lab, also known as Portal VR.
If I could make a core to aid me in daily life, it'd a "Routine Core." It would follow me around, reminding me of tasks I need to do during the day and encouraging me to do them if it realized I was putting them off. It would also do things like wake me up in the morning, like an alarm clock! I'd personally make its eye similar to the Curiosity Core, but green. Id give it a voice like Wheatley, but different enough so its not Wheatley haha.
I often find myself wondering... at what point does GLaDOS become corrupt? How does the system recognize a corrupt core? I often wonder if GLaDOS simply shut down this corrupt core recognition system and it happened to be one of the many things Wheatley accidentally turned back on. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if Cave himself turned the system off because it "got in the way of perfectly reusable cores". Point is, it's possible that GLaDOS had been corrupt long before she's first recognized by the system in Portal 2. In hindsight, that's quite obvious given that she, well, killed everybody. This could explain why the Morality Core is completely silent. Maybe it became corrupted by being attached to a mainframe with a corrupt core? It could also explain why the emotional core became so aggressive. Maybe trying to remove this corrupt core is what set GLaDOS off in killing everyone?
She’s probably corrupt based on a template made by the scientists that contain GLaDOS and the necessary personality cores attached to her in Portal 1. I’d imagine without those personality cores, compared to the template, she’d be 80% corrupt.
@@Abu_Brandino I agree with your overall idea, since the Cores are meant to regulate GLaDOs' behavior to keep her mind more stable and to hinder her murderous tendencies. However I think the mainframe has something to do with corrupting AI that interface with it, like with GLaDOs or Wheatley when they connect to the mainframe. When they are removed from it, they become more passive and gentler. I also think that the mainframe body also contributed to the corruption of the 4 personality cores. Morality seems completely silent, Curious seems to have an short attention span, Logic seems obsessed with the Cake recipe(although most of the ingredients would mostly be considered inedible to most humans), and emotion only shows signs of anger. I think that cores that are most corrupt are logic and emotion, since they display bizzare behaviors that would hinder their functions, and seem to be less useful in their directives. Like the corrupted cores like Space, Adventure and Fact.
@@bionic-tale4313 morality just can't function . It wanted to advise her but at the end Glados didn't care and did things that traumatized morality. Emotion core is more likely caused a lot of problems. Remember Caroline didn't want to become Glados. She was forced and probably why emotion core is so angry all the time. Logic core's obsession is pretty outlandish. Maybe it is because Glados doesn't need one. As mentioned before the reason why Glados is the way it is, is because of it's making. It is also possible that main frame and personality core are complementary, meaning that Caroline was copied to both systems to accommodate her person in. Much like Cave needed to have a giant head.
@@temkin9298 So the only personality core that was attached to GLaDOs that did its job properly is the Curiosity Core. Since it's supposed to add more inquisitiveness to GLaDOs' processing power. GLaDOs even states that the reason she kept Chell alive for so long because she was curious about her behavior. When it's destroyed, GLaDOs has no other reason to keep Chell alive.
the core in skyrim could be an implication that skyrim does in fact not play in the past but far far in the future. implying that the invasion did an even greater impact on humanity. not wiping it out, but sending it into a new middle age kind of world also, creating new races.
For those of us who are Wheatley fans, there is a great fan fiction book called Blue Sky that is really well written, and very enjoyable. It continues the story with Wheatley and the Space Core orbiting the moon after the events of Portal 2. Check it out!

@@saucevc8353 I mean, I understand the reasoning behind the decision, but at the same time we could’ve just left him in space and had Wheatley just float towards Earth away from him, instead of just obliterating him and having Wheatley be like “oh no, the space core, it’s broken” and end it there. The story’s awesome though, don’t get me wrong.
@@nobodyatall8451 Considering there are some unused Space Core lines in game where it regrets going to space, I think just having it die painlessly in space before it regrets anything was the best option.
@@saucevc8353 That was not a painless death. Also, there’s been debate over whether those lines should be considered canon or not since those lines were never used. The Space core could’ve just as easily enjoyed space forever. But what’s done is done, I guess.
I have this crazy fan theory that the Personality Cores were actually the employees of Aperture; they had their brains scanned, and that information was then used to make the cores. That is why the cores act so human.
I feel like every core that’s seen in both games were used at least once on Glados as she said “The scientists tried everything to make me behave, to slow me down” and before the wheatley fight she said something along the lines of how the scientists had placed many and multiple cores. So by these two lines that means there’s been a lot of cores and being called personality as well would mean that the adventure sphere was used to be adventurous like a watered down curiosity core that Glados corrupted, fact core that was used to supply Glados with fake facts like a watered down Wheatley, space core which would try to keep Glados’s mind off murder by focusing on space, either that or some sort of guilty conscious from Cave’s death (moon rocks). Many other cores must’ve been used to slow her down or change her mind if the cores didn’t wok they would be given another job perhaps adventure spheres job was to help create test chambers since he knew about danger before he got corrupted.
You notice that the morality core is a core that forces glados to follow a modified version of the laws of robotics. And the other cores were supposed to be Caroline's emotions
Man i love the personalitycore: Their Design and each of their individuell characters... The only thing i dont like is that they run on 1,1 Volt...i mean come on, that little power for like an half-AI with so many additional robotic parts...seems a little bit off even for Aperture Science...
look at the M1 chip and re consider your argument. if you would make them in the sime design philosophy, it could have very well been a system that runs on very low voltage.
Bending of space and time is fine, but a computer that runs on 1 volt is where you draw the line? Keep in mind lots of commercial microcontrollers can run on 5 volts
Honestly I thought the intelligence Corps and intelligence dampening core for the same course just asked her along while the corps decided to run its own stream of bad ideas in a GLaDOS, also if I have the choice to make a core from Portal 2 I would make a mixture of Rick, a companion cube, and the defective turret
the panels, crushers, and all other robot arms are sentient aswell, you can see in portal 2 mulitble panels looking at stuff with their blue eye and you see robot arms on the turret production line which sometimes look down at the panels. Glados also confirmes that the reconstruction and decontruction robot arms are all sentient. then there are also Nanites which repair the facility and those are sentient aswell since we see wheatly talking to one of them.
If you pay attention, some of those same panels after you awake GLaDOS, will also watch you as you walk by. Some will only change to red, when you get near them too. I can't say if that's because GLaDOS is angry at you, or not, but that's what made the most sense to me lolol if I were here, I'd be pretty mad at the player too, tbh.

3:58 I don't think she designed one to be feminine and one to be masculine. I think she just used modified personality cores for one and modified turret cores for the other. You can tell by how the shapes of the heads correlate.
2:31 - Wasnt there some Glados voiceline that hints at her keeping the combine ("them") out? so those also interact(ed) with the facility. 4:19 - Pretty sure those are not cores but bombs? 8:36 - I dont really agree with this, Wheatley transferred her consciousness/construct into some Aperture gizmo (prototype of a miniature core?!) that just happens to be able to draw enough power from a potato, there's still Aperture tech there, he did not transfer Glados into a potato but into hardware he attached to the potato. the storage scene at 4:19 are idle cores as seen by the very end of portal 1, and one can assume they all got picked up to the job the moment glados was unable to provide for the facility during the events between portal 1 and 2, keeping the facility up and running, keeping the facility still alive, if you will

Dan a.k.a builder core is an oc of mine Green stripes accompany the core as well as a detachable arm used to grab items. This core is supplied with apature's version of lego. He makes mini models of many things, but his prized creations are a one to one replica of another core, a model of glados, many test chambers old and new, and the apature logo.

If i could make one up, i can’t think of anything. I’ve never had ideas of my own. I love the cores, they’re funny, and very awesome. (Unsurprisingly, Wheatley is my favorite character.) But I guess what would be most useful is a support based one? Like emotional. I think every character in this game is emotionally supportive in some way, but you know. I’d really like it? Just bc i like company?
Only constructive feedback I have is the first chunk of the video is just observations of their form with little to no actual information about the features. It might flow a bit better to put the observations in with the information (like mentioning the plugs on the back when you talk about how they move about the complex). Otherwise, great presentation, great video, and I do understand this videos 5 months old so you might've already changed the writing for your videos. Or you didn't, cause its your channel and ultimately how you make your videos is up to you. I'll be viewing either way lol
5:20 your wrong about the morality core. It was designed to stop GLaDoS from flooding the facility. they attached it to her when she was flooding it. thats why in the portal bossfight she only starts flooding the place with neurotoxin after you destroy thr morality core. the same goes for the other cores. The cores make up GLaDoS's personality and keeps her running GLaDoS would barely be an ai without them. thats why she breaks after the last core (anger) was removed, she didnt know what to do.
The 57 dislikes are from test subjects "Climate change awareness core" would there even still be any climate change in a future 10,000 years from now where both humans and combines are most likely either endangered or extinct
What kind of core would I make? Why, no other than the companion core! It will be your friend. It could help guide test subjects through the facility, acting as an emotional support assistant to test subjects who see some..questionable... things occur that may affect their mental state. By following the test subject around, and providing a beneficial friendship to the test subject, test results could be improved as a direct affect of a better mental state. Well, they're calculators, so they aren't really men or women. But Atlas was designed to be more masculine while P-pody was designed to be more feminine. This is likely a part of the cooperative test, to see how different personalities interact.
