I LOVE MY CITY!!! born and raised up here in Perth amboy. I loved summers growing up here. This city has been through alot and still needs a touch up. We've come along way to success and we are the city where alot of great history has come out of. I still love reading about Perth amboy and looking at the pictures and going looking at old archives ...PROUD TO BE BORN HERE!
I grew up there and went back about 11 years ago to go to the children's library to see the murals I remembered from all the time I spent there. They told me about the fire and that all but the one mural had been destroyed. I am elated that they've been found and will be restored. Thanks for this program. It brought back many good memories.
How many people remember Perth Amboy's ill-fated slogan in 1913 "The Pacemaking City"? The name was popular for a few years and the minor-league baseball team of 1914 was called the Pacers. I wonder if the library has photos of the ball club and ballpark somewhere in their files.
For those whom do not know Jon Bon Jovi was born in this town. The Hess Family and many more famous people were from here, just as The 1st black male millionaire Mundy Peterson of Perth Amboy and Joe Raberts contestant and winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, if people care more for this town they would see its a historically American Gem.
Very very informational and so proud of my hometown. People are often taken aback when I tell ppl where I am from with such a different name. Now I can tell them of the many "firsts"!

Home of my 7th G Grandfather and proprietor Thomas Gordon from Pitlurg, Scotland. He is buried at St Peter's Episcopal cemetery. Thank you for this very interesting video.
They were there, but no one did anything about them. My husband and I saw them years ago, Katherine Massopust and I did a video tape to be posted on the community access channel for the Taste of Perth Amboy, but it was only shown once. We showed them and the beautiful back of the library that hardly anyone realizes is there. Suzanne Russel and I also walked through a few years ago wht the mayor. We need to restore the murals and also expand the library.
Always wanted to visit the Proprietary House but never have yet. My brother in law Dennis is from Perth Amboy, I went to Catholic school here in 1960. Hope you don't get haunted in the Proprietary House again bud. Perth Amboy's City Hall built in 1714?, Wow, I'm blown away by that, the oldest in the country, older than New York City's, that's awesome. Great town, always liked Perth Amboy, still do.
