Bernardo Faria is a 5x World Champion. Bernardo started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Juiz de Fora - MG, Brazil at the age of 14 in 2001. After receiving the Black Belt from his first instructor Ricardo Marques in 2008, He moved to Sao Paulo to join BJJ legend Fabio Gurgel and his Alliance team. After many years of training and winning many major titles, Bernardo moved to NYC in 2013 to train and teach at Marcelo Garcia Academy. In 2015 Bernardo achieved his dream of winning the IBJJF World Championship Open class title and his division, doing the double Gold and becoming the 1st in the IBJJF Ranking and also chosen as the best athlete of 2015.

Off a sprawl where I catch my opponent in a front headlock, I love to play between the D'arce, Peruvian Neck tie, anaconda choke and arm-in guillotine. I need a little more practice with my Japanese Necktie but those subs work well together.

I recommend looking up Joe Rogan’s neck crank video that he shows TJ Dillashaw bc it is the same explanation in this video when they go belly down. He almost prefers this neck crank to the darce bc all you have to do is fall to your side and their head is in your chest with nowhere to go

It’s better to avoid destroying your training partners necks though. A lot less likely to get very far if everyone is trying to rip each other’s heads off

That's a 3/4 nelson called a slicer so it's called a Peruvian 3/4 slicer choke

I LOVE their Peruvian necktie. It was the first submission I ever learned and was able to pull it off against a bully in 9th grade. After that, I fell in love with BJJ because it made me feel empowered, like I could finally start defending myself

Wait…. The FIRST submission you ever learned was the Peruvian necktie?! Brah you coulda beat the bully six months earlier just by learning the guillotine 😂

@@Austin-wy4xe lol, it took me 5 years how to do the gullotine, properly. now its my main submission in comps. it only took me 2 months to get the necktie down.
